Clean inside and out, priced right, fresh,great selection, polite efficient staff. We buy them late after game night near their location, then have them the next morning,and they're still fresh and yummy. My fav is the choc iced, raised round glazed, filled with Bavarian cream which is like vanilla pudding. We like all their donut types,but if we indulged in all we wouldn't be able to fit in our car. Mr T's shop is not a run down hole in the wall. It's not a palace either,but it's always spic and span,and the employees are well groomed, polite, enthusiastic and well informed on the world of Mr T's donuts from the fees to the food. There's an area with clean tables,chairs, napkins ,and it's always inviting...even the parking is great...lots of room and free of clutter. The prices are what you'd expect, and I ve never, in over 10 years of donut partaking, had an unpleasant experience there. It's really nice to wake up to a bag or two of Mr T's soft, scrumptious at least once a week. It's hard to be anything but happy when you're eating these sweet treats. I've been coming here for as long as I've been alive. There's a reason why this donut shop is a landmark of Modesto. My uncles, one from San Diego and the other from Walnut Creek say that Mr. T's makes the best donuts in the world and they've had their fair share of donuts haha The glazed old fashion has been my go-to donut. They're so fluffy, buttery, and sweet all at the same time. I've been to other donut shops and their glazed old fashions pale in comparison. Ever since Dunkin Donuts opened across the street Mr. T's has been pumping out donuts like no one's business all day long, so any donut you are craving will be available in the case. The service is really quick and great too. Winnie knows my family and always asks how they're doing when I come in which is so sweet. One time I came at 6am and the line was out the door, but the ladies moved the line really quick. Pro-tip: my mom knows what time of day on Thursdays they make their cinnamon sugar glaze donut which I think is around 3:30pm so if you go in then you'll get a hot fresh delicious donut. read more

This place is amazing... normally when I consume donuts I tend to get reflux and can't digest this... something about this place, no issues, they maybe use a better oil to fry their donuts? Ok, not the healthiest, but once in a great while, this just hits the spot! Tasty and wide variety of exotic donuts! I was in a donut mood this morning. So of course I had to stop by Mr. T's to get my fix. Service was super duper quick despite there being a line. The lady who assisted me had a huge smile on her face and seemed happy to be at work. Now that is something I admire, especially since I'm so not a morning person. I ordered six glazed donuts (not all for me, duh) to share with my coworkers. They always appreciate it when I bring in treats to share. I could not wait to get to work so I could enjoy one of the fluffy, yummy donuts with a cup of hot green tea. I figure the antioxidants in the green tea helped to balance out all of the naughty things in my donut. ;) read more

Rating this on the service and not the donuts. The donuts are still delicious. But I don't think I'll be coming back there's other Donut shops that has same or better quality for the price. 1. Bring cash. They charge 75 cent to swipe. Even if o order 2 dozen there's still a charge. I find that shady. I could have gotten an extra donut lol. The prices went up on the dozen. I spent borderline $10 on a dozen donuts. That's outrageous. 2. The girl with the tats was so distracted with the presidential news I kept on having to repeat myself which donuts I wanted. So...I'm a little confused by all the rave reviews. This particular donut shop was your usual run of the mill business. The staff was friendly...but I find that most donut shop employees are. There is definitely a mom and pop feel...but that doesn't make it anymore deserving of additional stars. The donuts were ok. We picked 4 different ones which didn't have any wow factor. Prices were typical. Nowadays, with so many donut shops trying to make it and up against places with cronuts and bagnuts, amongst other items...something needs to stand out. On this weekend morning visit we bought a couple dozen to take back home for breakfast for four adults, one teenager, and three other small persons. Demolished those donuts. Their original glazed in UNREAL. Melt in your mouth good... Fluffy, sugary (but not too sweet), just the right texture... Delicious. Stopped by Modesto on the way home from the Sacramento area. I was craving donuts so I found this place on Yelp. Saw that it was rated 4.5 stars out of about 150 reviews! I knew that I had to try this place myself. Found the place easy enough. Walked in and was greeted right away by a friendly crew. There were some families eating at the tables. I was the only one in front of the donut displays though. Did not give me much time to decide what I wanted, but that was not a problem. I was only planning to buy 3 or 4 donuts at the most. My darn sweet tooth got the better of me! Everything looked awesome in the display cases, and the racks of fresh donuts stacked in the back made me crave them even more. I ended up purchasing 6 assorted donuts and a couple of crossnuts. The following is what I tried: 1. Custard filled Chocolate bar. I was not too crazy about the custard (or whatever was inside) the bar. (3 stars) 2. Regular Glazed donut. Thought it would just melt in my mouth, but it did not. Still pretty good. (3 stars) 3. Sugar donut was fine, but no "wow" factor either. (3 stars) 4. Maple bar was alright. Was not too crazy about their maple icing. (3 stars) 5. Apple sauce donut. I thought that I would really like this one. Instead, I found this little cake donut lacking in flavor. Could not taste any apple flavor at all. Disappointing! (2 stars) 6. Bacon Maple Bar. As I mentioned earlier, I thought the maple bar was alright. The bacon portion of this donut was not up to par. They looked like bacon bits that one adds to a salad. A whole slice of quality bacon would have been better. (2 stars) 7. Crossnuts. I believe that is what they call their version of the infamous "cronuts". Tried 3 different flavors of them. I thought that all 3 were quite good. The regular glazed crossnut was my favorite. I even had one a day later, and it still tasted yummy. (4 stars) Overall, I think that Mr. T's Delicate Donut Shop is a good local spot! They are, obviously, very popular with the locals. After paying for my sweets, I was shocked to see a line out the door!! I noticed that it looks like Dunkin will be coming soon nearby. From what I have tried so far, Mr. T's is much better than DD. Maybe, I have been too picky with Mr. T's. I was just expecting to be absolutely in awe of the place because of the very high Yelp rating. I expected more because of this. Would I return here again? So I'm originally from the Bay Area. My roommate and I decided to take a gander down to the Central Valley to take a tour of a cheese factory (random, but that's college for ya). Let me make one thing clear: stopping at this donut place was the absolute highlight of that trip. Nothing compared. Not the cheese factory, not the drive, not the multitude of cute cows I saw along the way. Nothing. You might even say I drove over 80 miles JUST for these donuts. We ended up here on a Saturday, possibly around 10:30 am and the place was packed! There was barely enough time for me to process all the donut varieties before I was asked what I wanted to order. Normally, I would be irked at the rush, but in this case I was pressured to go all "love at first sight" and pick the first donut that caught my eye. But alas, I wasn't disappointed. I took one bite into my sprinkled chocolate cake donut and knew, then and there, that I had met my donut soulmate. Each nibble was absolutely delectable. Did I mention I only paid 95 cents? Less than a dollar! I actually applauded my restraint for not ordering a whole box. Word of caution: bring cash! Otherwise you'll end up paying $0.75 as a card fee.
