When I arrived, the place was a madhouse. There were several sections that were reserved for groups of school kids (not a bad field trip destination for a Friday!) and there was very little pizza available. To pass the time until the next surge of pizza from the kitchen, I grabbed a plate and loaded it with some salad, corn, mashed potatoes and fried chicken. The fried chicken is really tasty. It had excellent crispiness and juicy flavor. They also offered fried fish on Friday which was pretty tasty too. After I was done with that initial plate, I moved onto the pizza. To my delight, they had brought out several pizzas and all the slices I had were very good-on par with Pizza Hut's pizza, which I think is good fast food pizza. The standout slices were the cheese stuffed crust pepperoni and the cheeseburger pizza. I went back for another slice of each! They also have a soft serve ice cream machine, but pizza is a much better desert anyway!!!! Pizza the Ranch offers a delicious array of buffet items for a little less that $11, which includes a drink. If you are willing to weather the storm of lunch patron craziness, I highly recommend the Ranch over any buffet restaurant in the area. If I had known about the Ranch earlier in the week I would have visited at least 3 times the week I was in Mankato. *Tip 1* They take requests-tell management what type of pizza you want them to make and they will make it. **Tip 2** Check out the indoor half basketball court - the most random form of entertainment I have ever seen at a buffet!

There's a lot of tasty options to choose from. Portion sizes are small for what they're listing--my husband is a tiny man but he will eat the heck out of their 3 person portion meals. I purchased two "6-portion" meals, which totaled to over $70. I think once in a while purchases are okay. Also a great place to pick up frozen meals for loved ones going through tough times.

The meals are easy to put together with clear instructions on the back, which saves a lot of time, and everything I've tried has been delicious. Parking has never been an issue, and they always pick up the phone when I call. Prices are a little on the higher side, but they have a wide selection to choose from. If you stock up for a week, you'll save a little, though not a ton. For me it's really the convenience that makes it worthwhile, with everything prepped, packaged, and ready to go.
