I have been away from MD/PA for six years. Before 2020 I ate at this restaurant at least four times a year. The food and service were always good. I get that a lot of businesses suffered during and after Covid. A lot of them have not completely recovered. It seems that has been the case at Mrs Gibbles. Today, I visited the restaurant. Unfortunately, the service was slow. The food was also not as good as in the past. So many restaurants have had to close their doors. I hope that this one will eventually recover. I will continue to support them in the future. read more

Visiting from out of town and came here for dinner. First order of corn fritters was ok only because they were cold. Second serving was better because they came out hot. Tasted like a beignet. For dinner I had the beef brisket which was tender. Mac and cheese was good too. The green beans were bland. Overall it was a good experience. I thought the service was good and attentive. read more

Here's what I experienced. We arrived at 4:15p and were seated/greeted promptly and cordially. The dated interior was clean especially the bathrooms. The young waitress was very accommodating. I ordered the Turkey/dressing with mashed potatoes and salad. The stuffed pepper soup was added extra. The salad was great, fresh and tasty. The entree's arrival was as expected. The dark/white meat combo was a surprise and portion size abundant. The mashed potatoes were good and non-lumpy. The dressing was almost non existent. I had to look for it . When found and sampled, I went desperately looking for more and found none. The soup consisted of 4 carrots, 3 oversized potatoes and celery. Though seasoned well, the description needs adjusted. The addictive fritters were dense and lacking corn. Overall ..... it was an average experience. read more

I'm a fan because this is the best food you can get at any restaurant in the area. The fried chicken is fabulous and the pork tenderloin is done just right every time. I also like that the sides are served family style (with refills). The corn fritters here are so addictive that I have to be careful not to eat too many before my meal comes... and the service? AWESOME (and fast). read more

It's a little bit of a drive, but if you want the best pork chops ever it's absolutely worth it. It's reasonably priced, simple and excellent cuisine. And yes, on the way out we visited the candy store next door and got some very good chocolate- all prepared right there on site. Quite a treasure of an eatery, and out of the way. read more

This is one of the very few restaurants I am willing to give a 5 star rating. I love how the place is decorated as it makes me feel at home. The staff is always very friendly and quick at getting our order out. The unlimited corn fritters are amazing in terms of taste and also in the sense that... you get unlimited of them! The tenderloin here is out of this world, it is hands down the best tenderloin I have had in the whole country, and I've been to at least one restaurant in 34 states out of 50. The candy store next door has amazing fudge also. Not one thing I can think of that is bad about here! read more

This place was really hyped about, but failed to live up to it. Food was alright, but nothing was great. Service was lackluster. It was very chilly inside, and the decor hasn't changed since the 70s. Seems like things have gone downhill for this place. read more

Not deserving of a star. Undoubtedly the worst, most overpriced meals I've ever experienced. Everything, ribs, brisket,chicken, vegetables, starches over cooked and tasteless. We had dinner stopped by Mrs. Gibbles's. We expected home made meals. This was not the case. I had the turkey dinner. The turkey was processed white Breast meat and not cooked turkey pulled off the bone. The dressing was out of a box and not made from scratch and the potatoes were also out of a box. Mrs Gibbles handled our large group efficiently. They are child friendly. They serve family style side dishes, most notably corn fritters instead of biscuits. The 1/2 fried chicken dinner was great. It is not cheap but food was plentiful. Next door is their homemade candy shop. read more

My favorite thing about this place is is the unlimited corn fritters. Food is good but unfortunately the last sandwich that I had here was very soggy on the bottom of the bun. Also, there was way too much cheese and I didn't even taste the honey mustard sauce that I was promised. Also, the chicken was in a strange shape for a sandwich. I had to cut it in half and eat the other half with a knife and fork. Bacon was also on the soggy side unfourtnately. As far as the atmosphere goes, this place feels like my grandma's dining room. Very old and lifeless. Even the vinyl table coverings are similar to the ones that she used. This restaurant clearly caters to the elderly crowd and is not a place that I would hit up with a group of friends on a saturday night. Also, I really wish that they would play something other than christian music all day. I don't mean to disrespect the owners' beliefs but i'm sure they could find another genre or station that is a little more fun and equally respectful to their religion. Overall, I do enjoy the food despite a few hiccups, but I definitely think that this place could use a facelift. read more

Their food choice are excellent and the taste is magnificent! They make you feel like you are home when you eat here. Not very impressed with this restaurant. Service was extremely slow. It took from start to finish 1 1/2 hours. The bottom of my crab cake was burnt. My daughters pulled pork was burnt. Two of us ordered French fries and she didn't think to bring out ketchup when she delivered our meals. So it took another 5 minutes for her to bring out ketchup because she decided to grab drinks and food for someone else before bringing out ketchup. I'm sorry but when a customer needs condiments to eat their meal that is a priority! I won't be back. read more

We finally tried this place out. Very clean place and nice server. Feels like a good home cooking, smaller menu. I got the turkey and stuffing which was excellent, my husand got the pork tenderloin and a piece of ham loaf which was good he said. My daughter got the hamburger and mac and cheese which she said was way better then most places ( she loved that it was on a potato roll). The salads were a good size and fresh. I loved the house dressing sweet and sour, even bought a bottle for home. I will be back! read more

Wow, what a charming little family-owned restaurant with all your favorite home style menu items like fried chicken, pork tenderloin, and BBQ ribs. With all the tempting choices I decided to go with the Saturday special: turkey and stuffing. Glad I did! When I received my plate I was amazed by the portion size of both the turkey and mashed potatoes. It was definitely more food than I expected. They serve all entrees with a house salad (with, I must add, AMAZING croutons) and your choice of one side. The corn fritters were probably the highlight of my entire meal. They were PERFECT! Don't know how they make them but I'd love to know. Our waitress was so sweet and polite. She seemed genuinely concerned about us and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. The decor is a bit old fashioned and out dated but I think it is okay considering the food was great and honestly exceeded my expectations. It is a bit of a hike from where I live, but I will certainly consider stopping by again if I'm in the area. read more

This building doesn't appear like a place with fantastic food from the outside (or really the inside). Great surprise, the food was fantastic!! Starting with the house salad and endless corn fritters, I knew that I would enjoy my main course. I had the most tender and flavorful pork tenderloin I've ever had. I added a potato roll to my meal and made it a sandwich. On the suggestion of our waiter, I chose homemade French fries for my side. They were perfect. This is definitely one of the "don't judge a book by the cover" type of places. read more

Been eating here since i was a kid. "unfortunately the decor hasn't seemed to change". But either has the great food! My personal favorite is the Delmonico steak, pork tenderloin also very good. All meals are served with family style sides, also their outstanding corn fritters!, and salad, which if you not want to hate yourself. use the house vinaigrette on the table. You will want to buy a bottle, which they do have for sale. The staff are always fast, and very nice. So other than the out of date looks and feel in the dining areas, this is a great place to enjoy a home-style meal. read more

It was my first time visiting the restaurant about a week ago and I wasn't impressed with the outdated décor. I also waited a long time for my house salad and chicken and rice soup, when the restaurant wasn't too busy just around 5:00pm. When the soup arrived, it was extremely salty and luke warm to the taste; couldn't finish eating the soup. I also received unlimited Corn Fritters with powered sugar and were delicious and would come back just for them any day! My wife ordered a cheeseburger and thought it was very good with no complaints but we both felt the our meals were a little pricey which totaled about $30 including the tip. A cheeseburger, house salad, bowl of extra salty soup and some corn fritters should have cost under $20 for the entire check. No plans to return anytime soon. read more
