My friend and I have been to PRG many times. We visit as much as 2-3 times a month. Last night she picked up a couple of our favorite items and brought them to me as I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks. Our prime favorite is crab soup, it is delicious. Yesterday it was like water instead of the normal thick and creamy. It also had no flavor.i was so disappointed. The spinach dip was the opposite thick but very heavy on the mayonnaise, very little spinach or flavor. My friend's Cobb salad was mostly lettuce very small amount of cheese, and other good vegetables. We were questioning whether they had hired a new chef. Also it was suppose to come with chicken but she was charged extra for the chicken. Please tell me this was an aberration, we would hate to give up this establishment. read more

Looked very tacky, no real decor style, old style wobbly tables and some bench seating. Took about 20 min get service, ordered a T bone steak and grilled salmon. Another 40 min for food. Steak was warm, potatoes so cold butter didn't melt. Steak heavenly covered in garlic! Couldn't eat it! Garlic butter on vegis too made unable to eat any of it. Had to keep waving the flys off the table. The salmon was cold and very salty, even the rice was salty with teriyaki sauce on it. Only thing edible was the broccoli. Did tell waitress the steak was horrible and inedible and was offered a replacement meal to go without any seasonings added. Will see how it taste tomorrow after I stop belching garlic and salt. read more

Given the options I found this diner to be a great spot after a long day of driving. The place was packed but that's a testament to it's popularity. The parking lot was a bit tight as was the dining area. The food was decent enough with generous portions too. read more

The Potomac River was recommended by some friends and we finally got a chance to stop in for lunch on a Sunday. In the door the place is clean and very cozy with a old school dinner feel. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu have all the favorites and some goodies you don't see often. I had the cheeseburger with a side of baked beans. My burger was huge, tasty and cooked perfect and the bean were very tasty. I highly suggest stopping in if in the area. read more

What a horrible experience! I discussed with my server that I have a dairy intolerance. Every. Single. Thing. That she brought out for my meal had dairy all over it. A salad covered in cheese. After I sent that back, I then had a steak brought out with roughly 3 pounds of butter. I sent this back as well but was then thrilled that she was actually quite fast at bringing the plate back. Well, she scooped the butter off. Because that certainly helps with a dairy intolerance. My daughter informed me today that she saw the server doing this! How freaking gross! Which matches the decor of the place, I don't think they washed the place in years. It was covered in dirty and grease. I've been suffering ever since. So if you value your life and have any life threatening allergies, stay away from this place. They surely don't give a crap about their customers. I hope the health department of West Virginia looks in on this dump. read more

Driving home from Bethesda decided to pull off into this amazing little place. The people were incredibly friendly but bring your appetite. The food is delicious and well priced and the portions are huge. I would stop here 10@ times out of 100 easily. read more

Everything thing can improve from food to the cleanliness of the restaurant , nothing is constant food always tastes different and not in a good way. They also only offer gravy on the weekends. Gravy is never the same . One day it's great and the next it has way too much pepper in it. Definitely don't recommend wasting your time or money here!!!! read more

The best alfredo i've had at a restaurant in a long time! The food was fresh, hot, and quick. My server, Kathryn L, was super kind and great at her job. The ambiance was very laid back and had some cute handmade crafts for sale, too. Unfortunately the bathroom could use a paint job, you can see where cleaners have been sprayed and worn paint off over time. The bar looked very clean and all staff was kind. Fresh meat, and great portions. Lunch during our stop was this diner off the highway. Simple decor inside with a small bar and colorful walls. The staff was nice and let us know their main feature was the meat came fresh from their farm and was butchered in the basement. You can taste the freshness when you have one of their burger which are large enough that I split one as a snack. They also serve steaks, wraps, milkshakes and all the other american classics but get a beef meal if you want a treat. 12-15 for each meal was well worth the size and the taste and some people walked out with leftovers. We've been here a few times and it's time to write a review! Here is the verdict folks: if you like good old fashioned country food you won't be disappointed here eventhough the menu is quite short. We are not big on loads of gravy and things like that but really enjoyed the steak and burgers. I order my burgers without the bun and they give me a ton of lettuce, tomatoes and pickles on the side...kind of a deconstructed burger that is yummy and filling. No bueno. Arrived at dinner time, only 3-4 other tables seated. Music in kitchen (I think from kitchen) turned up so loud the bass was shaking the tables Out of steaks. (Well server said "been out since Sunday, he hasn't come in to cut them") which eliminates 1/2 the menu (we were there on a Wednesday) Out of turkey. (Which eliminates even more menu items) Sandwich came out wrong, took 30 minutes for a replacement. Roast beef was dry, gravy was not good White onion on the salads and in a cold sandwich? We have becoming to Hancock, MD and Berkeley Springs for years. Why did we not know about Potomac River Grill? Did you know they raise and butcher their own black angus beef? It doesn't get much fresher. You select your meat right from a cooler and they cook it just right. My son and husband both had the Delmonico steaks and said they were delicious. I had the burger platter with sides of green beans, mashed potatoes with grilled onion, mushrooms and gravy. Can you say fresh and home cooked deliciousness?!! The mashed potatoes were a favorite of mine and I am picky about my taters. My son apparently didn't have enough to eat and got dessert. The coconut cake - it was a HUGE slice so we all tasted it. Dropped in for a late Sunday afternoon lunch and had a relaxing meal with good service and good food! Casual atmosphere, country music videos playing on the tv. They have counter seating by the tv, and booths and tables, good for families, friends, or couples. They indicated to sit where you wanted and a waitress brought the menu. Huge glasses of water with oversized straws, didn't need any refills. The menu had all day breakfast, sandwich, and dinner options, lots to choose from. I went with the farm fresh liver and onions with 2 sides and a snowflake roll. Many choices for sides, peas, corn, potatoes, slaws, potato salad, mixed veggies, applesauce, corn on the cob, and could upsize to a side salad. I went with the veggie medley, good mix of cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, all perfectly cooked without overcooking. The liver and onions were browned and tender, great taste even without any gravy, which was optional, came with two huge pieces. Yum! Staff was responsive and also let you just enjoy your food, no pressure, good place to get away from the highway and enjoy your food, didn't notice the road at all once inside the restaurant. Family was really excited to try this place we'd been told good things I wished it lived up to the hype. 1. The waitress picked the steak out of the selection and just placed the raw packaged steak on the table while taking the rest of the orders then forgot it there while taking the next tables order 2. A different waitress by the register continued to use foul language while speaking to coworkers and we had young children with us 3. The food was not great and the bacon cheese fries we ordered looked and tasted like something I could make in a microwave So won't be going back or recommending hopefully it was just a bad day there and it's not always like this read more

This spot is right off of 522 and would be easy to pass right up! It feels like a locals place. It has a diner feel and is clean and well kept. Their specialty is burgers and steaks, and the beef is raised locally on a private farm. The fries and onion rings are made in house and are really good! The service was good but we did see some precarious mask wearing. read more
