We found this gem on Yelp during our trek back to Michigan from DC - conveniently located right off the highway, we were pleased to see they were open on Memorial Day. The General Manager greeted us upon arrival and we were seated immediately. A few minutes into our arrival we were greeted with an appetizer compliments of the manager and chef. We had a sampler of their best sellers - Brussel sprouts with sweet chili, handmade onion rings, elote corn with their house made Brick sauce (so delicious) and then a side of their house made honey mustard (probably the best honey mustard I've ever had - and I am a huge foodie)! This newly opened restaurant deserves more praise and more reviews (highly recommend adding a QR code for reviews to the menu or receipts). 7 reviews on Yelp doesn't do this place justice. Our server Neveah was fantastic - so sweet and knowledge about the menu and seasonal specials. The She Crab soup is the best I've ever had. Granted, I'm from Michigan so "when on the East coast" I had to try it. The chef says this is house made, along with 80% of the menu. The NY Strip salad was full, fresh and flavorful with house-made dressings. The Double Smash Burger was juicy & cooked to perfection - the Brick Sauce on top made it the most delicious burger, the kids meals were insanely delicious and don't sleep on the Mac & Cheese - delicious! Now for the best part - the Donut Bread Pudding. I read a review stating their donuts are from a famous local bakery, and that's what they make this with. It's special, you are in for a treat. We can't wait to make another trip to this adorable town - Hagerstown, MD just to eat here again. The service and food is top notch! read more

The restaurant was basically empty when we visited around 5 on a Tuesday. The "hostess" did not so much greet us but acted annoyed that we were there. She asked if we had reservations and reluctantly seated us. Our server had about as much enthusiasm as the hostess. We received our cocktails. My vodka martini was fine but husband asked for a blackberry mojito and there was no balance very tart and he would not order again. The only good thing we received was the French Onion Soup. It was a little salty but very beefy broth which we both liked. Husband had the prime rib which was good. On special Tuesdays for $25. I had the ribeye and it was flavorless. I would not order again. We were traveling and the location was not convenient so we wouldn't be back. The building and atmosphere is nice. The gentleman who brought our food was also very nice. read more

Such a great place! From the time I walked in, to the time I was seated, the welcoming environment was palpable. You get the impression that the employees really like being there! The menu is impressive, and VERY difficult to choose from. I've visited this establishment about 5 times. You cannot go wrong with their Brussel Sprouts. They are crispy, and tasty with a bit of sweet chili sauce. Even the croutons in the Caesar Salad were delicious! The main course, Salmon, was brought out to me by "Cooper", one of their chef's. What a lovely touch. Cooper was a very professional, affable young man. Sometimes, it's all about the presentation, and he aced it! Lastly, the dessert, Creme Brûlée. I was taking it with me. Cooper, again brought it out. It was packed so carefully, that the caramelized portion stayed perfect, and the inside was incredible! I highly recommend this restaurant. By far one of the best places to eat in downtown Hagerstown. Was looking for place we've never tried and gave The Brick Tavern a shot. I saw a really solid review about their crab soup and felt like it deserved a try. I'm glad we made the stop. Even if the vibe and style within is pretty much as generic as most modern pub/Irish bars get, the food and service were very good and yes, the crab soup was fantastic! My wife was also pretty satisfied with her meal. For a Friday evening both our appetizers and meals came out quick, and very well prepared. They had live music and the solo guitar player/singer was a good volume and wasn't one of those that are so loud you can't have a conversation during your meal. First time we eat here as we had an event at the Maryland Theater right crossed the street. So we had dinner before the event and the service and food were great! The appetizers of crab dip and Philly Egg Rolls very tasty. Dinner for everyone was very good - Tavern Rubin, Texas Smoked Brisket, Roast Crab-cake and Turkey Bacon Brick Wrap. Driving through town and this was one of the few restaurants that had a kids menu and good reviews. Walked in and it was pretty empty but we waited about five minutes for anyone to come up to us. When the hostess arrived we asked about a kids menu and she said they didn't have a kids menu. I said oh there was one on yelp. She said she would ask and brought back a waitress who showed her the kids menu. We sat and ordered drinks. When the waitress came back to take our order we explained very thoroughly our 8 year old is a picky eater and asked if the grilled cheese was white or orange cheese and she said orange. We said perfect because he will not eat white cheese. She said she totally understood as she was the same way as a kid. We ordered the crab dip appetizer, my husband got the crab cake sandwich and I got a chicken Caesar salad. The crab dip came out about 3 minutes before our meal and was honestly mostly cheese and old bay with minimal crab. My son's grilled cheese did have orange cheese but it also had white which is kind of frustrating as we were pretty implicit. By the time she stopped back to ask how it was my husband and I were almost done with our meals and my child just ate fries. She asked if we wanted it remade but he said no as he is 8 and now thinks he won't like it because it originally came with white. What really frustrated me is she didn't offer to take it off or give a discount or just charge us for the fries or anything. Like they threw away a whole grilled cheese we paid $12 for. So if you are a guy who is just looking for a beer and to watch sports this place is great for you but not great for kids. Also the bathroom is not in the restaurant you have to go back into the building it is located in and walk to the other side. When I went the sink had a faucet with no handle or knobs and while trying to figure out how to get the water to come out I snapped a whole nail off. read more

From the service to the ambiance to the food--everything is 10/10! The cuisine is a perfect blend of coastal bites meeting comfort food. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My wife and I went with our daughters to the Brick Tavern for dinner on Saturday evening. I made reservations a few days prior. We were seated quickly once we arrived. Brick Tavern has a cool atmosphere. The bar is very nice, and there's lots of TVs if you looking to watch a game. The menu was great and has a good selection. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. It was easily the best crab dip I've had around here. It's on par with places in Baltimore. Our dinners entrees were fantastic. I had the brisket plate. It was delicious. The service was also good. They've got a pretty decent drink menu as well. The Brick Tavern is a great addition to downtown Hagerstown. We'll be back. read more

We chose The Brick Tavern based on its online menu and mention of ambiance and cocktails. We were staying in a nearby small town for skiing, and didn't have any recommendations. We were very pleasantly surprised--amazingly tender filet mignon, perfectly prepared rainbow trout special, and best crab cake sandwich we'd ever had. The cocktail called Sweater Weather was dangerously delicious. It's in a historic and spacious building, with friendly staff, and a fun play list the night we were there (31 January 2026).
