I really love the donuts here but the organization on how and when to order gives me anxiety! Let's start with the donuts , they have the classics and then specialty donuts ! For classic donuts the chocolate glazed is definitely a fan favorite in my house , but if you're looking for something more classic the Honey dip is fabulous ! They are pretty big donuts too and taste fresh all the time ! The specialty donuts are fun and change a little every time I go in , we love the maple bacon donut! I mean who doesn't love bacon !? The coffee is good and the bagels are good so all around food and drink are good ! Moving on the way people line up to order is a bit messy there is no line and their are two cash registers at either end of the counter kind of making it a free for all for ordering ! Half the time you're trying to see what specialty donut you want as the next guy is peeking in front of you etc . If you like donuts and you are anywhere near here, this is perfect place to stop for caffeine fix and donuts. The place looks like a small house that has been turned into a donut shop. There is a small parking lot which can get crowded. The shop is cute and small with few tables. There is wonderful glass case filed with treats. The donuts are made old fashioned style and has substance to it when you bite into it. There are many varieties however some are higher-priced based on decoration and the type which was little too much for me. The apple fritters and other goodies also looked amazing. I walked away with 1/2 dozen to share with my boys. Will definitely stop in again and try the different ones. Bring cash since they are cash only. They do have one of those ATM but I am kind of weary of those things and why pay $3 in banking fee which is worth 2 donuts. read more

So I'm getting married. To save money I thought after seeing a photo on Pinterest of donuts stacked into a cake shape. Not only does it save money and then more money to have someone cut up your money but less waste. We live in Rhode Island near Newport, my finance is from the "hill towns" (where ever the heck those were when I met him I had no idea). We drove from where we are (about 3.5 hours) to check out places to get married, have the reception, and to go check out these donuts everyone talks about. Within 20 minutes the manager Shane, came and talked to us, sat at the table and had coffee and went over prices. The fact that someone did that and didn't laugh at the idea was great. We didn't realize it was cash only so we got two cups of coffee and two donuts. We wanted to get a dozen just for us to tease the different flavors, we mentioned we were going to do that during the meeting, they were given to us so I was blown away. But who knew the best donuts around weren't to be found on the racks of the all-mighty D+D but rather this quirky local joint called Mrs. Murphy's. What's good about this place is they're always baking. If they're running low, they make more. It's not like D+D where they bake overnight and at the end of the day, there's nothing left. These are some of the best donuts I've ever had, and I've tried some of the bigger names across the country - and here it is in little Southwick close to home. Weekends expect long lines in the morning, but it's worth the wait. The cake donuts are amazing; craggy on the outside with crunchy fried ridges that hold the cinnamon/sugar (my favorite), and soft on the inside. I can't decide between that and the airy, gigantic chocolate frosted donut; so fresh that if you hold it too tightly in your fingers it will collapse upon itself, and some of the best chocolate icing, thick and rich. The glazed crullers are delicious. Do yourself a favor and try these, I guarantee it will spoil you vs. that local orange/pink signed chain that sits every half mile in this area. Caveats; I don't like their coffee, and apparently they have other food that I've never had - these are 5 star donuts, can't speak to the rest of the menu. read more

Best donuts in the state and no one is kidding when they say that. I live nearby but work fifty miles away. I am constantly being asked to bring in their donuts. All their pastries are excellent. I can't speak for the coffee though, I just get donuts. Good breakfast sandwiches but not great and the wait is longer for those. Their lunch menu is decent though. There is a breakfast counter but I don't like the floor height seating so I don't eat there (bar stools at the counter but you do not sit any higher than an average chair so it seems silly to me). Always busy on a weekend morning but the line moves fast so don't be discouraged. It's a very old restaurant and the layout is lousy but still worth it. read more

Ok so I still love this place but, I went here a few days after Christmas for some blueberry muffins and was severely unimpressed. I got my food by 8am on a Sunday and normally when I get them they melt in your mouth. This time they were as hard as a rock. There is no way these were made fresh, I'm thinking leftovers before the holidays that they're trying to offload. I'm all for an establishment's profit margin but not to the detriment of their reputation. Please discard of food that isn't fresh, at the very least let your patrons know so they don't waste a meal and the better part of an hour eating a muffin that a gas station would be embarrassed to serve. read more

Wow. These are the best donuts I've had in a LONG time. There's nothing fancy in terms of the offerings, just your typical New England donut shop with the usual assortment, but man, are these donuts good. The cake donuts are amazingly flavorful, and the lighter varieties are so soft and light tasting you could be easily fooled into overeating. The only jelly stick larger than the one they offered here can be had at Allie's in RI, but Mrs. Murphy's is better tasting, and that's saying a lot. Our favs are the honey dipped, coconut flaked (sometimes have to ask for them), and honeydew - all rank far above any "chain" out there! Even family who visit from out if state ask for Mrs Murphy's during their visits, AND friends from MA have to drive their customers by Mrs. Murphy on the way to the airport!
