When you walk in, your eyeballs will be greeted by a dazzling display of gorgeous pastries, cupcakes, bars, cookies and pretty much any kind of bakery treat you can think of. Our pound of cookies included chocolate macaroons, chocolate leaves, rainbow petit fours, and a slew of other beauties. Everything we've had so far has been stellar, and you'll really need some will power to make your cookie stash last longer than a half hour. Never knew this place existed until a friend mentioned it to me because I asked where to get good frozen meatballs as the grocery stores are all horrible. We decided to try some pastries and coffee and sit down and take it all in. The lady behind the counter was super awesome, Marie, and you won't find one better. The coffee was good and my cannoli delish and my wife's chocolate peanut butter cake was to die for. She got something to go as well, lol. We even tried the minestrone soup which was good but got the meatballs to go and won't get to try them till dinner. Already making plans to return and feast upon more of their pastries. read more

They have great homemade soups here. All your favorites... tomato basil bisque, tomato and rice, chicken and rice, pasta fagioli etc... As for the desserts!!! They are the most authentic tasting treats in the area. Definitely a little "sweets" gem for Southwick. read more

Maybe it's just me but every good I've had from here had a distinct mold taste. The apple turnover actually had green spotting on the flip side(glad I realized this after a few bites) I called in about this to let them know. Years later, got some cannoli. Moldy taste. Few months after that, tiramisu cake: cream had a clear moldy flavor as well. I don't know if there's mold in the mixing machines or maybe somewhere in the display cases but it's definitely spreading and spoiling their baked goods. They need to address this issue before it plummets revenue. read more

The place is very nice, very good service. The cannoli are very good and the calzoni is amazing.

I love this place! Would be 5 stars but I had a few mishaps with their chocolate strawberries. The strawberries were moldy and I had to toss them all out. I've had most of the baked goods and they're all delish! read more

Can not recommend the carrot cake... Tasted more like a spice cake with very minimal shredded carrots. On the dry side, and the frosting was too sweet and did not have enough cream cheese flavor. Sad, as this is my daughter's favorite cake and it was for her 18th birthday :(( read more

I have been in here a few times because my kids like the "worms in dirt", cake layered with frosting and gummy worms. Always a hit with the kids. However, the pastries I have tried have not been very good at all. The one exception is the cannollis, which were good. All of the other cakes and pastries I have tried have been dry and old tasting. We were in the plaza today and I decided to give the place one more try... I ordered a lobster tail, a pastry filled with a custard cream. It was horrible... Completely inedible. The pastry so dry it could very well have been weeks old, and had an awful, almost rancid taste. The cream filling had a sour smell and taste. I actually think they had sat so long that the filling had soured! Actually had to spit it out and rinse to get rid of the awful taste. I will not be returning. I gave it two stars instead of one because the kids do like the worms in dirt and I have always liked their cannollis. I would like to add that I am not a picky person and I think this is my first negative review.. Would have to be pretty bad for me to do this :-(. read more

We purchased a fruit cake for a birthday party. There was a very thin layer of fruit, if you want to call it that. The strawberries were frozen. Not one person was impressed with this cake. For our next birthday, we will purchase from Mozzicatto Bakery in Hartford. read more

I like this bakery, and I worked in a bakery for four years as a cake decorator and baker; I know a fire bakery when I see one. This place is great. Love their stuffed bread, I've tried the buffalo chicken and the chicken and broccoli. Only comment is I personally think the buffalo chicken needs more sauce and I'd love to see banana peppers in them, but I'm sure I could order one ahead of time if I chose to. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount and quality of the chicken in these breads. I also have tried the plain bread. Great to dip in a sauce. That being said, I've also had the pasta with sausage and meatballs. I would and have bought the sausage and meatballs separately. They're pretty good. Their desserts, and I've had many are AMAZING. I had one in particular I'd recognize but don't remember the name (I was gifted a box or several single serving desserts on my birthday from my mom) and I would eat that cake any day of my life. Cannolis, which can make or break a bakery for my fiancée, are surprisingly good. They compete with La Fiorentina in my opinion. Shells are nice and crunchy, the filling on point. I do like the orange zing you get from la fiorentinas, but these are damn good too. The service is good, the price is reasonable, everything I've tried I would buy again. If you're on the fence just go for it! read more

Rich. That is the name of the game at Pasticceria Italia. I feel like I need a shot of insulin after every trip here. Everything is so sweet and thick and heavy. For your own well-being, you should not visit this bakery often. Not that it isn't good. Believe me, it is. It's just too much of a good thing. I gravitate toward these Snickers cakes. I can't remember the exact name, but it has Snickers in it. It's basically the thickest peanut butter mousse in existence, coated with hard chocolate, then drizzled with some more chocolate, then topped with a flower made of frosting. They take me two sittings to finish. Oh, and the prices are out of this world. You'll spend the same on a pastry at Dunkin' Donuts, but get something impressive. This is the type of place you go to reward yourself. I've always been impressed. Highly recommended. read more

I can't say enough about how beautiful my wedding cake turned out from here!! I had an idea from seeing other photos of wedding cakes and I talked to Carmen about the design. She was extremely pleasant & patient w/ me and went through all the details she needed. I had no idea that the end result would be as beautiful and breathtaking as it was!! It was absolutely gorgeous!! The cake was so delicious and moist!! My husband & I had stored it for our honeymoon and finished it off when we got home!! The price was 1/2 of what I was expecting to pay! What a super deal! I had a 3 tier cake that had 3 different flavors, and was so beautiful I hated to eat it, for about $300. I LOVE getting my indulgences from this shop!! LOTS to choose from!! EVERYTHING is delicious!! I will get my daughter's birthday cake from there!! I am VERY happy I found this terrific pastry shop!! Cannolis are great but the creampuffs taste like some sort of cleaner . Don't buy the creampuffs. They said it was just the custard but there's no way it's just the custard it's something in the cream. This Italian pastry shop was terrific when it first opened. I went the first Thanksgiving they were open, line out the door, not much in the case but the pastries that I purchased were fresh and delicious (and worth the wait in line). I started ordering cakes there for office birthdays at my work. Their cakes are fantastic, especially the oreo cookie cake, yum! However, as of late I've made purchases of single dessert items, the oreo cake and lemon cake and they have been bad. Dry, old tasting and the lemon crème in the center was more chewy than creamy. I believe that during the "off-season" (not holidays) there isn't enough turn-over of their desserts and they are old. If they fixed this problem than this bakery would be untouchable! read more

Unfortunately, very unimpressed with this bakery. We went in on a Saturday to order a cake for the following Friday. The woman who served us was very unhelpful, uninterested and had an overall sour disposition. We went ahead and ordered the cake anyway, a seemingly simple white cake with lemon filling, and watched her write all of this information down. After cutting the cake we realized we were instead given a marble cake with frosting as filling - definitely not what we had ordered! Will not be going back. read more

Purchased their carrot cake and it wasn't good at all. Not one shred of carrot to be found. I have spent a lot of money here from soups to pastries and have been satisfied. I called to let them know and the owner in my opinion could care less. She said it was their recipe and that was that. I expressed how all 4 of us who tried it thought it was tasted bad. She didn't care and repeated that was their recipe... Honestly customers service and satisfaction isn't something they care about I guess. If you have ever purchased a cake there, they aren't cheap. She even said, "What do you want me to do about it?" She didn't offer a refund or even a store credit. That's what I was hoping for. She did offer for me to come in for a couple of pieces of another cake. I hung up the phone and decided this was my option. Don't purchase the carrot cake if you are looking for a traditional carrot cake. They have lost a customer that has been going there since they opened. read more

This bakery is not in my back yard but worth the drive. I recently stopped in and had soup for lunch and it was delicious. Generally I go there for the pastry. I had trays of cookies made for my daughter's wedding and everyone raved about them. My sister-in-law from Missouri has me send the cookies to her. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. read more
