As a little kid, our sister's Godparents always got her Easter Basket from Mrs Nelson! As we got older, some of us "found Mrs Nelson" as well! Recall Mom 1st entered a Nursing Home and an aide helped her (as she was confused when 1st there). Mom asked me to get the aide a box of chocolates from Mrs Nelson ($10 box) for helping her. That was years ago ... and I always marvel that they are still that price! Our daughter lives now in NC and I send chocolate (large and small boxes) from Mrs Nelson to her at the Holidays ... all her friends (and a friend's daughter) absolutely love them!!! My friend lives in Plymouth, MA and I live in LA, CA. The big deal in Plymouth is to get See's Candy shipped all the way across the country. When my friend came for a visit in October, we asked her what is her favorite chocolate candy. (Thinking that's what she'd get for the holidays.) We were surprised to hear it is corn cakes and old fashions, definitely not a CA thing. It was a special treat her grandmother used to bring when she visited. My friend thought they weren't made anymore and had no idea where her grandmother bought them. So ofcourse we did a web search and found Mrs Nelson's Candy House in Chemsford, where grandma used to live so many years ago. The website shows corn cakes and old fashions out of stock, what a disappointment. However, just last week I emailed them asking if it was possible to order them and have them shipped to my friend in Plymouth, MA. Got a very nice reply and was told to call their customer service line. Yesterday got a text from my friend with pictures of her corn cakes and old fashions smashed on top. We sent her 20 of them and I don't believe she is going to share! Just wanted to recognize the amazing customer service and to thank the staff for bring back a wonderful childhood memory for my friend. My favorite specialty chocolate retailer now sells pineapple caramel chocolates! I had to have one with my coffee on the road and it was as amazing as I had hoped that it was going to be. Other chocolate connoisseurs at the shop also noticed the new offering and added to their purchases of their favorites. read more

Great shop~! I was able to get the chocolate covered patties that I like so much and had my grandkids pick out their faves! Nice selection of candy all around and very helpful counter staff! Highlight being the RUBY Chocolates. yes they have them. Its a bit tart however interesting to have a newer version of chocolates after Milk, white and the dark ones. They are so ready for the holiday season. Lots of options and their boxes are available in different options. The assorted boxes come in different varieties and they are delicious. Been getting candy from Mrs Nelson's since I was a kid and it always stays consistently excellent. My most recent visit was for Valentine's Day treats. A small store they had social distancing protocols in place to manage the crowd. It was a little sad to see the floor displays empty but this was so they could provide you personalized service rather than just randomly browsing the store. On this trip it probably saved me from buying too much candy as I literally become a kid in a candy store wanting all my favorites. The candy itself is always excellent and it is consistently high quality old fashioned favorites. This is a store to go to get nicely made delicious chocolate. They had items for children and adults alike and is a go to place for locals for all candy related holidays with a continuing rotation of seasonal favorites. I love this place. Absolutely LOVE this place. The chocolate is very good. You can buy boxes of chocolates and chocolate novelties (they also have other candy there too) or indulge and pick out chocolates from their glass cases. My boyfriend and I saw their sign off the highway and had to stop in. Needless to say, it was worth the stop! The owner is the sweetest woman and you can tell she took pride in the shop. While I can't say that I've actually been inside the store in probably 5 years... I will say that I received a small box of dark chocolate salted caramels from a client at Christmas and OMG were they phenomenal! I sent her a note thanking her for the treats and that they were my absolute favorite so being the sweet lady that she is, she brought me another small bag on her next appointment. I savor each one and will truly be sad when they run out... Then I will have to go myself to restock and honestly probably won't even pay attention to most of the store. I'm so disappointed. I and my family have been going to Mrs Nelson's for decades, as long as I can remember. The chocolates have always been delicious. I received some chocolates at Christmas, including the non pareils and I just cannot believe how terrible they are. They used to be my absolute favorites! LACKING CUSTOMER Attention --- I stopped at Mrs Nelson's for some chocolates. I was greeted when I walked in, but that was it. There were 2 girls behind the counter, but they did not look up to help me or even ask if I wanted something. They kept busy packing boxes to sell or fulfill orders or something. another customer ahead of me was also waiting on them and had to verbally ask who would help her. Mrs. Nelson's doesn't have the greatest candy across the board, but they have a few keepers. I love the milk chocolate pecan turtles and the chocolate "bark". The fudge is a little grainy and corn syrupy. As someone else mentioned, stay away from the stuff they don't make in-house. Gummy bears are overpriced and stale. Just go to CVS or Market Basket if you want Gummy bears. If you order something from the cases, as opposed to picking up a box of chocolates already made up, be sure to monitor the person filling the box. A few times when I've failed to monitor them, they gave me the wrong thing. Instead of milk chocolate turtles with pecans, they gave me dark chocolate. Another time they gave me the ones with cashews instead of pecans. Oh, if you're old enough to remember Bailey's hot fudge sundaes, you might like to know that Mrs. Nelson's bought the recipe for their hot fudge sauce and sell it here. You'd think they'd make a bigger deal of it than they do, but you kinda have to know where to look. If you poke around the shelves right next to the checkout area, you'll see some of those squeezy plastic bears that usually contain honey. In this case they have hot fudge sauce and there's an old Bailey's box hanging over them. If you can't find it, ask. The staff has always been pleasant to me, even when they're busy. read more

Went there for the first time today, I was overwhelmed with the volume, greeted as "Sir" (I'm a woman). I said I needed some chocolate for fondue, she gave me a lip curl and said, "what's that?!?!" I decided to go with plain milk and dark chocolate, the dark is good, the milk is too sweet, tastes pretty much exactly like Cadburys. As we've gotten to now Chelmsford, we were struck by Mrs. Nelson's Candy House. A blast from the past, a bygone of earlier days, has survived into the 21st century. Coming here from California, I miss my favorite chocolates, especially some of the offerings of Sees. So, we thought we'd give Mrs. Nelson's a try. The interior is old fashioned; looks like it was last updated in the 50s. Chocolate and candy abound. We looked around at the vast offerings and ended up getting a half a pound of what we thought looked good. The folks we chatted with looked like they could be Mrs Nelson (or her sister), sweet and pleasant ladies. Overall, the chocolate was pretty good, some pieces better than other. Since I tend to like darker chocolate, I thought their milk chocolate was too sweet. The coconut and creme feelings were quite good. We are thrilled to have Mrs. Nelson's in our back yard; we look forward to sharing local goodies with friends and family in PA and CA. read more

Or the chocolate that is shipped from somewhere else in the country only to show up with white marks on the chocolate denoting it's been stored improperly. The holidays are the busiest. Great opportunity to chat up the others waiting in line with you. Valentine's Day is the worst, with a cop to direct traffic and help you back out of your parking spot. Yankee Magazine seems to always have their ad in it. Every holiday has a box of Mrs. Nelson's candy in it. read more

My favorite candy has been raspberry fruit slices from Mrs Nelson's for more years than I can count. My sister always gets me several pounds of them on birthdays and holidays and I am always so happy to get them. This year, she again bought the fruit slices for me and had them sent to me in Florida. They are just awful. Eating one is like eating a cup of sugar and there is no temptation to have more than one. They must have changed the recipe or changed suppliers because they are inedible. The sugar on them crunches when you bite into the slice and instead of having a tart flavor the slice tastes like nothing but more sugar. Never again! read more

Went to Mrs Nelson's Candy House for the first time yesterday! The first thing that hit me when I walked through the door was the delicious smell of chocolate, it was incredible! I bought a 1 pound box of half vanilla creams and half strawberry creams, they were incredible! We also bought two chocolate covered twinkies to try, uhmmm have to say it was YUMMY! This place is adorable. I have been a fan of Mrs. Nelson's since I was a little girl. I grew up about a 7 minute drive away and it was our family's favorite place to get a treat for a special occasion. Even though we are grown and have moved away, we still stop in from time to time when we are in the area. My youngest sister and I visited a couple weeks ago. You feel as though you are walking into your gram's dining room. The ladies behind the counter are hysterical. I think they were both in their 60s/70s. I could see an older gentleman in the back kitchen working a chocolate coating machine. It smells heavenly in there. Don't expect modern boutique flavors. Just good, old fashioned candies and chocolate and plenty of it. They have a vast variety of chocolate by the pound. I will continue to patron Mrs. Nelsons as long as they are open! read more

I was a bit disappointed, but it might have been mostly due to the fact that I was trying to get my coworkers to go to "Mrs. Nelson's Candy Shack" for a few months, and I had sort of gotten my hopes up. And I think they might have thought something a bit more... uncouth... was happening there, based on the name of the establishment. The homemade chocolates looked nice, but, being allergic to chocolate, I opted for some gummies and hard candy. The gummy worms and bears tasted as though they had been there for a while, and were rather hard. People seemed to enjoy the chocolate. Sea salt caramels are hands down the best thing on earth but so many other delicious candies too!!! So many cute boxes, pops, and more to pick from for every holiday. My wife and I had driven by a few times wondering what the Candy House could be. It looked like a house, not made of candy. We finally stopped by and were very pleasantly surprised to find a blast from the candy store past inside. The place is larger inside than we thought it would be and they have a ton of fun in-house chocolates and goodies. They even have chocolate hockey pucks (only saw milk, no dark for this one). Great candy and fudge! The store is big. I think I went in when the were changing from valentines day to St. Party's day candy, so some tables were bare.
