I miss Zesty's! I used to work at the library down the street from it. Both the library and Zesty's have connections to The Simpsons-the old wing of the Chelmsford Public Library is the inspiration for Springfield Town Hall and the pizza shop in The Simpsons is named after Zesty's! I recently stopped in to get subs and a pizza for a birthday party and everyone loved their food. The Italian sub got rave reviews. The pizza crust is delish! I wish this little, bustling pizzeria was closer to my home! It's a must if you're a Simpsons fan. Or a fan of top notch customer service: I'm disabled and use a mobility aid. A friend and I stopped in on a Saturday around 2 PM after biking the rail trail. We both ordered wraps: southwestern and Mediterranean both with chicken and a small order of fries to share. The fries were ready before our wraps so we started with those. They are the type that have a crusty texture (cornstarch I think) which are ok but I prefer the good ol' fashion fries. I had the southwestern wrap and thought it was tasty but I wasn't a huge fan of the texture of the wheat wrap which seemed hard. My friend had the mediterranean wrap and said it was good. The young lady at the counter was very friendly. I did think their pricing was a bit high $21 and some change for one wrap, a small fry and a bottled water. We also went next door to the ice cream stand and I would give my cone (their smallest size called a "snack"), a chocolate fudge brownie, a 5 star for taste and consistency. Overall, a convenient stop right off the rail trail but be prepared to spend a few more bucks than expected for a "sub" shop. read more

Great place to stop in for a beer and a small pizza. This places' claim to fame is that two of the Simpsons cartoon illustrators grew up here in Chelmsford and have included Zesty's Pizza in the intro to the show. So cool to stumble upon this spot. One of daughter's favorite shows!! The menu is extensive, almost overwhelming. If you are in the mood for a salad they have plenty to choose from. Subs...anything you want. Chicken strips? They have that too! It always worries me when restaurants have too much variety though. My thoughts...Stick to less items but do them well. Thankfully I picked the right pizza joint out of the two within walking distance from my hotel. The crust is a bit thicker than I like. It was almost a pan pizza. The sauce was perfect, sausage divine but a little stingy on the cheese. The crust was nice and crunchy on the bottom. Overall, I was impressed. The waitress was lovely. I chatted with her, charged my phone and watched the end of the B.B. game. This is a nice little family friendly place. Another mediocre mom and pop place in Chelmsford where the quality of food is nowhere near the prices... This place is so confusing/irritating to me. They seems to care; the place is always clean, they have decent customer service, and are typically quick no matter how busy. That said, my main gripe is a massive one. I've been here numerous times since moving to Chelmsford 5+ years ago (mostly due to convenience) and there is no way someone could convince me that *anyone* who works here tastes tests any of the food. They somehow manage to make everything SO BLAND. It's shocking really. The pizza dough tastes like it has literally zero spicing or fat (oil or butter) in it. It seems as though it is literally water and yeast. The sauce is almost equally as flavorless. Forget about any spices, even salt or pepper, on top of the pizza. I recently had a steak and cheese sub with peppers, onions, and mushrooms with a little bit of mayo (I also asked for salt and pepper) and it had ZERO flavor. Absolutely maddening. How do you make a flavorless steak and cheese?! Honestly, how is that possible? Also, a small steak and cheese is $9... for that price, I better be getting a REALLY good sandwich. I legitimately can't fathom who would give this place positive reviews, unless they are used to eating boiled food everyday of their lives. I could not believe how much ham, cheese, roast beef, salami and other goodies that came with the salad. It must have weighed a good two pounds, and was super fresh and absolutely delicious. We stopped by Zesty's hoping for a quick bite on a recent trip. The atmosphere is cute, but the dining room was extremely hot. There were also no high chairs or changing tables, which seemed strange for a pizza place. My daughter has a dairy allergy, so I asked questions about different menu items to find something we could eat. It was like pulling teeth to figure out what had dairy, so we finally settled on a salad with grilled chicken. They confirmed that the Syrian bread was dairy free, but the dressing I had selected (with guidance from the employees) was cream based. The pizza here is excellent. The crust is a unique mix between the fluffy Greek style and the thiner Italian style. The cheese blend is quite savory and compliments the sauce nicely. The toppings are hard to review. The quality / freshness are good. The problem is preparation. I'm not as much of a fan of sliced sausage, for example, but I can tell that it is good sausage. The bacon & pineapple are cut funny. Not bad, but just... funny. A side word. It's worth at least one trip to the shop itself, as there is a giant "Simpsons" mural handpainted on the wall. Fast, friendly staff. Great food with very reasonable prices. I have tried a number of items on the menu and all of them won't let you down. I'd have to say my favorite item from them, however, is the calzone. For the Middlesex County Area, I have not found a better calzone than Zesty's. Their sauce is great, (ask for extra on the side for dipping!), and the fillings are always fresh and plentiful. Nice and hot...and they always pack it with some foil before putting it in the pizza box before you walk out...keeping it hot for your trip home...IF the calzone makes it home. read more
