I love Findeisen's. Been coming here my whole life. I'm also really glad they have my favorite flavor of all time. However, they quite literally put the ice in ice cream. 9/10 no matter what I order there are ice chips in my ice cream. Sometimes they are small something quite large. I took a picture the one time I pulled 2 chunks that were 3 inches long each. I don't know what is up with their freezer or whatever is causing this issue, but I wish they would deal with it. We visited Findeisen's for the first time after spotting it on the map when looking for ice cream in a new area. It was such a treat and I'm so glad we went there! They had a ton of flavors (including ones you don't see as often like strawberry cheesecake and bubble gum), even though there was signage saying that some weren't available, and the portions were huge. The staff was incredibly friendly and the line moved quickly. I'd love to go back! read more

What happened!!! Not the same place from a year ago. Ice cream was full of oil, kind of stuck there in the throat. You get one star because it's cold and resembles ice cream. Never going back, it's sad to see quality suffer when a key person passes away I'm sorry to say it's beyond fixing. Go back to making your own ice cream!!! read more

Prior to heading to New England for a vacation with my husband I must have mentioned Findeisen's to him about a dozen times. Especially that they are known for their floats and shakes, both of which my husband loves. We were able to sneak a quick trip in during our week long visit to NE and it was so exciting! Both the menu and the building haven't changed a bit which was cool, I hadn't been there in over ten years. They have a wide variety of ice cream, pretty cool flavors too. I was glad to see a few low fat and low sugar flavors, that is always cool to see. They also still had the infamous shakes and floats which I was so excited for Paul to order. Paul got a coke float with rum raisin ice cream and he loved it. He said that there was a nice balance of ice cream, syrup, and coke to it and he just loved it. I got a children's sized sugar free black raspberry (boring, I know!) and loved it. The taste of the black raspberries was so strong I couldn't even tell it was sugar free. The cost is low, the lines seem long but move fast and the quality is just as good as I remember. Very cool, LOVE Findeisen's! read more

Simply a classic! This place I haven't been to since around 2003. I used to go several times a summer, but haven't since then. I used to get Strawberry Sundaes and Vanilla milkshakes all the time when I went when I was a kid. They have great ice cream and give you a lot! The vanilla is really good. I recall when I was a kid getting vanilla with chololate sprinkles and a cherry on top, that's how I liked it back then. The ice cream is pretty much like Haagan Daaz but a little different. The feeling is sort of like Haagan Daaz but Hood ice cream mixed together. Hood ice cream is not the greatest, it's just sweet, Haagan Daas is sweet and amazing and that's what this ice cream tastes like. The Milkshakes are awesome. I always got vanilla all the time. They pump that syrup in it, I forget the name of it, but it's a syrup they also started selling in the stores in the late 1990s you could add to milk to give it a sweet milkshake flavor. The only complaint I have is mostly a suggestion... they've never renovated the place. It's the same way every year. It would be nice if they renovated it, maybe have it extended and have an indoor area and that way it can stay open year-round. read more

I've been going here since I was a little kid over 45 years ago. The original owner, his son and grandchildren always ran the business. Now you go and they don't even know how to take an order. What happened to all the college summer kids who were quick and didn't have to explain step-by-step several times how to make your ice cream?! Suggestion... You need to bring in people who don't have to repeat the order to three times. On a good note... I'm glad you take debit cards. I really hope that they read the reviews and make some changes. read more

I am writing this review for this experience only, normally they are on the ball. I ordered a chocolate ice cream soda with vanilla ice cream, pretty straightforward. Maybe it is an old school thing and they don't get much practice but not rocket science. There was very little soda and the syrup was a mass on the bottom I had to add soda water at home or I would have been drinking straight syrup. That was somewhat forgivable but here is what earned them one star the vanilla ice cream was more ice then cream. I maybe could understand a less served flavor but vanilla? Really? I have never had more icy ice cream. Not just small grains but huge chunks. One star for an ice cream stand that has such a poor product. read more

This review hearkens one to another review of mine describing a certain bakery as a "crap shoot". Here we go again. I got a large cone of pistachio. It is a respectable pistachio, not the all time best, that would be Willey's in Salisbury, MA, but better than "not bad". It was certainly the mildest pistachio yet, and also the least sweet, though not the smoothest (that would be White Farms at Georgetown, MA - smooth as wet glass). It was a bit rough on the tongue, which boggles the mind where we are not talking sugar grains, but it's not the extreme in that category. The lack of sweetness coupled with the mildness of the flavoring allows the pistachios themselves to come forward. You can clearly discern the saltiness of them (no, the ice cream isn't salty). It's certainly a memorable pistachio. Their prices are cheap. Their portions are generous. Their staff is friendly, and cheerfully fulfill requests for samples. I must now lend a caveat. Other flavors range from "nothing special" to "what was that?". The oddest being the "chocolate" which jogs your impressions in a "why was that so familiar?" sort of way, the answer being "wait, was that was a Fudgesicle?". I would assume that when you want chocolate ice cream, you want chocolate ice cream, not a curious surprise. Come to think of it, I think I actually can explain the odd roughness. In general the ice cream lacks creaminess: think gelato. But again, weirdly, that's what made that pistachio memorable..... read more
