Just as a warning... never ever go to Mariam through Groupon anything. Had the worst wash and blow dry. She claims I was 1 hour early. Right from the start, she had attitude saying I was 1 hour early. I specifically told her on the phone earliest the better. Obviously she lied.. Obviously when I informed her of her Groupon offer, her attitude changed.. Even with a do-over I would never go to her again... She had a lousy attitude wasn't open minded about what kind of products or tools I've used. Didn't want to be told what kind of tools to use, she just wanted to use her tools. If I could give her negative reviews, I would and she charged 30 extra for wash and blow dry long hair. read more

She is nice but does not listen to what you are asking for . I wanted my color to be medium brown like the photo I showed her, she colored my hair black although I specifically told her several times that I did not want my hair black. She asked for an extra $30 because I have a groupon and she said that she would be using more product. Fine. No pb but coloring it black despite what I asked for. Unacceptable. I never write reviews but people need to know what to expect. She took no responsibility like some of the previous reviews show. She said it will lighten after a couple of wash, that's BS. I had to buy clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner. It is frustrating especially knowing that I am going to my stepson wedding in 2 weeks. Went for a haircut and root touch up. I asked for a very specific cut - long layers into a V. I showed her multiple pictures of exactly what i wanted. She just cut about 4 inches off total with a few long layers but the ends are straight across and don't have the V shape at all. I even told her half way through that it wasn't V'd enough. She did a few more layers then told me that it'll be a V when it dries. It isnt V'd at all. It's just short. Also, this is a very extreme amount of hair color to leave on my forehead. Im glad I don't have plans later today. Hair is so personal and takes so long to grow. I'm really sad. I won't be coming back. read more

I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Mariam for the last 3 years and she's always done an amazing job. She always listens to what I want and executes! Shes also open to my ideas and suggests other solid options based on her experience. She's always so friendly and makes sure I'm comfortable while waiting for my color to set. I got my hair cut and dyed black here (trying to cover my grey), which I really liked. I also liked how she has a private studio. She was very nice to me while doing my hair. However, I happened to take a close look at my scalp a couple weeks later and soooo much grey was showing. Not the roots, but the long strands I had. I was on vacation when I noticed, and after returning to the US 3 weeks after coloring it, I called her to question why my grey was back (color faded that fast??) and she said that is normal and she only guarantees her work for one week. Hmmm. I told her if that's the case, there was no point in my returning for future work on my hair. Sadly, this was a waste of money. She also manages to charge more than the original quote by telling me I need extra work. Beware, don't go here. BTW she doesn't return phone calls if you have a problem. read more

Miriam is lovely and a great stylist. Her other staff members not so much. I've now got two levels to my hair. I asked for a trim, layers, bangs and a fringe. I was shown my hair from the back once, right after the first section was trimmed. I wasn't shown the back until after I had left and was told it looked odd. There's two layers to my hair, one incredibly short and one long. I did ask for a fringe; just not in the back of my hair. Brings me to my second point, I specifically asked for a fringe at which I got a nod (awful communication). I didn't get a fringe. John (I believe) just took the cape off and directed me to pay. I'm not so much complaining about the lack of fringe because I could have stood up for myself. What my problem is the fact I have to tie my hair up to cover up the fact I have two obvious parts to my hair. Don't like the bags either, not even at all. Hope not everyone has such a bad experience as I did. My sibling also had a bad cut, but not nearly as bad as mine. We wont be coming back, even if Miriam is wonderful. read more

Oh My Gosh! I have always had to have a good men's cut for work. M is amazing and does more than cut your hair, she just really cares, takes her time and a perfectionist. I have tried many other men's haircut places in Toaks and none compares . Miriam is very nice and clearly very capable, but I wouldn't recommend going in on a groupon. I was surprised she wanted to charge an extra $25 for all over color for hair length (my hair is shoulder length). She ended up just doing a root touch up instead and the color came out just ok. The included conditioning wasn't anything more than the usual products. The styling was not good; my hair looked crazy from a short blow dry and she wanted to send me out! I asked her to do more and she did but when I suggested she use the flat iron for frizz, that would also be an extra charge. Never heard that before.... She ended up blaming my curly hair for the look so maybe curly hair isn't her strong point. I know offering groupons isn't profitable but I felt the whole experience was halfassed and upselling was more important than making a good impression. read more

This is what a HAIR SALON should be- I love M'S CUTS- Mariam is awesome- very sweet- very personable- very professional and most of all her hands are magic- she made a horrible haircut from another salon amazing. I didn't think I would be able to go out for a while with that hideous hair cut but Mariam fixed it. I got so many compliments on the cut, color and the style.
