I went here for a reception here. This is a hidden gem located right outside of downtown Charlotte. I visit Charlotte a lot, but hadn't heard of this place. I did not stay here overnight, but the reception was beautiful. I loved the old historic feel to the inn. All of the decor was beautiful. The catering company was very friendly. The food we ate was amazing. This place is very small for an intimate reception. I felt like all the rooms where full very quickly. Overall I had a good time. Enjoyed the historic nature of the Inn. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with The Morehead Inn. I remember first walking in when I was looking for wedding venues and thinking this was a dream come true. Dorrys did everything to make the day perfect. We were in constant contact over my few months of planning and the day was absolutely perfect. We rented the entire inn for the evening of the wedding and it was like having a party in your own home. It was cozy, comfortable and beautiful. I keep thinking of all the other life events I want to celebrate while I'm there like baby showers, birthday parties, anniversary parties... I just loved it! We stayed in the Mt. Vernon room and the bed was so extremely comfortable. We plan on coming back each year for our anniversary and will always recommend it to our family and friends. My husband and I got married here 5/21 and I cannot rave enough about the inn and the staff. Our wedding was exactly what we envisioned, with guests wandering between rooms and enjoying all the inn has to offer. Every employee from the catering team, to hotel staff and the amazing Dorrys herself, were so friendly/welcoming and attentive. We rented all the rooms at the inn as well so late night we ordered pizza and hung out by the fire pits till quite late. The food is amazing - ORDER THE LAMB KOFTA OMGGGGGGGG, and everything went without a hitch. Truly a magical space. read more

As a wedding planner, The Morehead Inn made the process and day of so easy! The venue coordinator, Brooke, was so easy to work with, highly communicative, and incredibly helpful on the day of. It's so convenient that they have rooms for the wedding party to stay in overnight, and the location is close enough to the city for stuff to do while being secluded enough that it's quiet. We made reservations to stay at the Morehead Inn en route to the rest of our vacation and I am SO glad we stayed! Chad Logan, General Manager, went out of his way to make it welcoming for us. Xavier and Philomena were so helpful in making our stay truly memorable, as in a we'll-never-find this again kind of thing. I have food allergies/sensitivities, and the breakfast was tailored perfectly to my needs. Give yourself time to really take in this property. There is a lot of history in the walls, and many write-ups about the inn that are cool to read. We wish we had stayed another night at least. The property is expansive, with many private areas and "nooks" to spend time relaxing. Edison lights hang overhead in the front patio with areas to gather around a fire pit. There's also a separate carriage house, complete with a living room/writing station, kitchenette, private enclosed patio with water feature and king-sized bedroom, among other amenities. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout. We look forward to when we can stay again! read more

Recently stayed 2 nights in the second floor unit in the carriage house. The unit was quiet, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the window air conditioner kept the unit comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious with probably the best water pressure I have ever experienced. The made to order breakfast and dining room were lovely and the coffee was great. This is not a modern inn, more stately with much charm. The common rooms are lovely. The birds kept in one room were pretty amazing. Also met Elvis the cat who was very friendly. The staff was great. Only had a small electrical issue in my unit, but would definitely stay here again. read more

I need to give a HUGE shoutout to the Morehead Inn!! The employees make this place so much more than what you expect! Let me begin by saying that I made my first reservation a few weeks ago when I heard that we were expecting poor weather conditions and that the roads would be treacherous. I needed a place to stay that would be close my place of employment so that I could get in safely. My reservations made, I had no idea what to expect. I arrived and was quickly given my room key. As soon as I entered my room I was overwhelmed by the creature comforts of crisp clean linens, no hotel smells, a 4 poster bed, the complete comforts of home! The Nest soaps and lotions made me feel amazing! This Inn had a room that you could grab yourself a free soda or coffee, water just amazing. The antique furniture that was so well cared for, the adorable finches in the cage. Jeez what can I tell you. Then came the following day, Dear Lord could this place get ANY BETTER?? I'd have been happy with just the Keurig coffee but NO you absolutely must stay for breakfast, I mean it is included in the price.. the breakfast was delicious!!! The coffee here is an absolute must. So let me be completely honest with you here... since we have had so many weekends of snow/ice with unknown road conditions I have taken the opportunity to continue to make my reservations here! By the time I would have paid for a hotel uptown then include my breakfast; I would end up paying the same price and NOT had all the comforts of home! If you are looking for a place that will love on you, give you a homey room and all the privacy you need/want, they this little gem is perfect for you! You need to give yourself a little love!! But, the professionalism, warmth and creativity, MHI and Something Classic, brought to this weekend's wedding, was stellar. Unfortunately, the rain caused a plan "B" scenario, but it did not dampen the evening or disappoint the fabulous couple. Karen created the most breathtakingly lovely florals and decor, befitting the historic inn. Dorrys and her crew were spot on and at times going far beyond duty, to assure a smooth event. I highly recommend the lovely and gracious Morehead Inn. I stayed at the Inn for a special girlfriend's staycation. The establishment is run professionally and the property is pristine and elegant. The common areas and gardens are manicured and peaceful. My room above the carriage house was comfortable and came with so many little branded extras! Coffee was easy to come by in the morning and breakfast was delightful and handsomely served and presented. The staff is helpful, available and friendly yet always respects your privacy and personal space. I always appreciate feeling well taken care of when away from home and thank the Morehead Inn with making my stay the stuff which memories are made of. read more

If you need a place for a company get together, this is it! I was able to visit The Morehead Inn for a small company meeting of around 20 people and it was nice and cozy in the room they provided us with. When I first arrived, I noticed how it the plants were well kept and there wasn't that much parking. If you come here, I would highly recommend carpooling. From the parking lot, I was able to walk right to the conference room they had for us. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I went back in time. The decorations there were beautiful and made me feel like I had to drink tea with my pinky out. The only gripe I have about their decorations was that they had plates with Slytherin colors. How can they support the evil house in Harry Potter!?!?! Other than that, everything was perfect. They do not have that many bathrooms, but it is understandable since it is an old house. I wouldn't want them to change that anyways. I wasn't able to explore more in the Inn, but all the things I was able to see I loved. The staff was also very friendly, so kudos to that! read more

I was very happy with my stay at the Morehead Inn. It is a beautiful place and every small item has been attended for you to be comfortable. This place is filled with rats and rat scent, and rat droppings, everything is out-dated management is rude and RASCIST! just disgusting, Check-in process is totally a mess, There is mold in the entire place you can smell the mildew everywhere in there, the plumbing is horrific there is no A/C in none of the rooms, The rooms are not worth the prices what so ever. I attended one of my dearest friends weddings a couple of weeks ago at the Inn. The Inn was cozy, intimate, and beautifully decorated. It was the perfect place to have a wedding and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to stay in one place for the ceremony and reception and we even spent the night. The Arosa room was clean and comfortable and the porch with porch swing was the perfect place to enjoy a cup of morning coffee. I would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding or even just a night away for a getaway! read more

As a groom, who spent over six figures on the wedding with his finance, the experience with Moorehead Inn was horrible. We were promised that if we were unhappy with the food, we would be able to bring in our own food. We were asked to pay for every tasting even though this was never mentioned during pre-contract. But the worst part of all was the fact that their lack of organization caused major issues with our wedding. They ended up keeping our money we paid them, and we ended up not having our wedding at the Morehead Inn. Let me tell you, money was not our issue, you can find our wedding as a Platinum wedding in national magazines, the issue was their customer service. Never had I imagined that Billy Maddalon the owner and SOMEONE RUNNING AS A POLITICIAN, would threaten me and insult me in front of my soon to be wife. We ended up paying them their money but decided to not have our ceremony there. As a groom, I recommend staying far away from them. While moving to Charlotte I stayed here a couple of nights to get are perspective of a more residential area. It is an old house on Morehead in Dilworth that was converted to a bed & breakfast. The interior is definitely what you would expect of a B&B - I felt like I was at my great grandmother's house. I was slightly creeped out because I stayed there during the week and was one of two people there. Kind of like the Shining. Anyway, the rooms were well appointed and clean, but smelled a little stale. Old furniture, carpet, draperies will do that I guess. Staff was super friendly and eclectic. The breakfast was great. Neighborhood is a good one to relax in and very central to Uptown and South Charlotte. However, you will have to drive a few minutes to get to places to eat or shop. Stay if B&B is your style. If not, head up the street to the Westin. read more

The Morehead Inn is a sad excuse for an establishment. The staff is unbelievably unprofessional, confrontational, and rude. NEVER have an event here unless you want to go through an insane amount of stress and be lied to multiple times. When last minute problems arise instead of helping you to make a new solution they will back you into a corner and threaten you. They advised that an outside event was possible but situated our tent under rain gutters so that it was totally flooded. They then proposed we have dinner outside in the storm instead of moving inside where there was plenty of room. In preparation for the event it was the same stress and frustration dealing with people who clearly don't care and just want to rob people of their money. A little about the accommodations: do you like to fall into the middle of your bed and feel the springs all night? That's what you'll get if you stay here! You will also be surprised by unexplainable Burts of cold water when you take a shower, the strong smell of mildew, and unsuitable pluming. When you place a breakfast order you won't receive the food you order but a buffet that you didn't ask for. I would never recommend this place to anyone for a hotel or event space unless you want to be severely disrespected and mistreated. read more

My husband surprised me by booking us a night away. Upon arriving to the Inn we waited 15 minutes while the desk person shuffled through keys to find our room key. He finally brought the key and walked us to the room. We walked in and the room was 85 degrees. He pressed some buttons on the thermostat all while joking about how hot it was. We assumed it would eventually cool down some. That did not happen, we could not sleep it was so hot. We had to open the windows but it wasn't really any cooler outside. In the morning we sat on the sofa to watch tv and the tv would only turn on and go to the screen to connect to the apps, it would not change channels or connect. We went down to breakfast which was good but only had 3 selections. We turned in our keys upon checkout to the same girl that was our server at breakfast. 2 hours later they called us telling us we didn't turn our keys in. My husband had to give a description of the girl he gave them to for them to believe us. We called the following Monday and Tuesday and left messages for the manager but have yet to receive a call. Save your money or find a different Inn. Also I didn't mention the huge roach behind the curtains we found when we had to open the windows. read more

DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING HERE!!!! This venue was a nightmare of rudeness, negligence and poor customer service for my daughter, who used them for her wedding venue. They got a new "wedding coordinator" in 2019, when the old coordinator left. From failure to get necessary tent permits after 100 reminders, to gutters that drain into their only outdoor space and flood it into a lake, to forcing guests to move furniture when their outdoor space flooded, to multiple cancelled menu tastings, to one of 2 toilets for 100 guests put out of commission before the ceremony started, to serving buffet style after guests paid for individually cooked breakfasts, topped with arrogant and anti-customer behavior on the part of their "wedding coordinator", my strong suggestion is RUN FROM HERE! read more

Very charming bed and breakfast with a nice spread in the morning. The house is well kept and the house cat is very friendly. Be prepared for old house creeks if you're a light sleeper. I've stayed here many times. The location is in a nice residential area but not close to walking distance to pubs and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable but the TV is not close to the bed to watch and is very tiny at least in the room I was in. The wifi works well and for the price I may keep staying here. I travel for business and typically book things well in advance but do not plan on paying for it until closer to the date, having said that, make sure to watch your credit card statements as this last time I booked, I was fully charged for a trip that is over 40 days away, very disappointing and has me considering other options....hopefully they will stop doing this as it's a huge inconvenience for customers :( read more

Went here today with wife, kids, and mother in law to celebrate Mother's Day. Had a good experience a few years ago and thought to try it again. What a mistake! Had a 1:30 seating for brunch. First they bring us to a table with a dirty table cloth apparently left unchanged from the previous diners. Second, we go into the house for the buffet, which was underwhelming to say the least. They're out of bacon, yes bacon ! Also the prime rib was out. The ham was cold and salty and the turkey was like bad deli meat. I could go on regarding the sides and the service, which both sucked. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were impressed with the delightful antique furnishings, the friendly staff and the efforts made to combine old world elegance with modern conveniences. We enjoyed every moment we spent at the inn. The breakfasts were tasty and helpings were generous. I had a couple of food allergies which the kitchen staff willingly accommodated. We found the staff went above and beyond and helped us whenever asked with information about directions, destinations, restaurants and more. In addition, the bed and breakfast is conveniently located just 10 minutes or so from "uptown" which is what locals call the center of town--a common destination for tourists. I would heartily recommend the Morehead Inn to anyone who wants more than the generic modern hotel experience. read more

This place is so relaxing and quiet. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The grounds are very beautiful and I was able to walk to a nearby shopping center without any issue. Let me start by saying it is a very lovely inn, but not the typical B and B we are used to staying in. We are used to a host/hostess who is attentive. The staff was anything but attentive! We are also used to a hot meal. When we asked about breakfast, we were told come down anytime between 8 and 10, but no mention that it was a buffet. Needless to say the food was cold by the time we went to breakfast. We would rather be told a time to ensure the food is hot and fresh. Also, who puts out a tray of bread (uncovered) and no toaster. So we had stale untoasted bread. We asked about early morning coffee and were told to use the Keurig in the coffee station, which we could not get to work. The room was quite chilly. Overall, not a great experience. If you are going to advertise as a B and B, then run it like one! read more

We booked the Morehead Inn for a bridal luncheon held in October.a we had extensive discussions with the event manager and thoroughly communicated our needs and expectations. Our experience was a nightmare. Phone calls were not returned, promised meeting notes were never sent and our arrangements didn't get carried out. We would have backed out if invitations had not already been sent to out of town guests. The room was not set up as we outlined making the floral arrangements we ordered inappropriate for the setup. The food quality was terrible and was served cold. Everyone left hungry. I wrote a letter to the owner outlining my concerns over 5 weeks ago and got no response or acknowledgement of the communication. I have had numerous previous interactions with this business and its sister facility and have always had good experiences, but they have clearly lost their way and I would advise people to avoid Morehead Inn and Vanlandingham. read more

My husband and I stayed here as a weekend get away to Charlotte. When we showed up to check in there was an event in progress downstairs and in order to get up to our room we had to take a back staircase. The bed was not very comfortable and I thought the bed was going to fall to the floor every time he moved. Breakfast was good but I wouldn't say on par for some of the other B&B's that we stayed at. The power surged the whole time through out the night so the lights got brighter and dimmer. In the morning (a Saturday) they began setting up for another event directly below us around 7:00 and at 8:30 began playing the piano. We wouldn't have been able to sleep in even if we wanted to. We did not have a very restful or quiet stay. The worst part was the water in the shower never got hot. There is nothing worse than a lukewarm shower. read more
