Stopped in twice this week for lunch. Had the hamburger then the award winning wings. Both were great!! I love the crew the was working. Even the owner popped in the check in on me. Great story and can see why they are successful. Burger was full of flavor and filling!! Had the blue cheese burger was a great choice for me. The wings were great would have liked to been able to split up the order to try more flavors but maybe next time. The smoking prior to flash frying gives another layer of flavor and would be very complex with some of the flavor profiles of the sauces I'm sure. Great job Midway!! And you better not sleep on this place it serves great food but also has an amazing supply of bourbon and spirits for sell and drinking. read more

Today was the last straw with Midway Cafe. The last time we went there we sat so long that we ended up leaving and going to Tickle Pickle as we couldn't get a server to acknowledge us. My wife and I decided to go back today and went in for a quick snack. We were going to split a burger and I also ordered an additional side salad and a side of onion rings. This was after waiting a ridiculous amount of time to actually have the server come to our table to place the order. When the food was brought out by one of the young runners I commented that it looked as if I had received the full orders and asked to see the server. After five minutes it was clear that he wasn't coming back as he was behind the bar engaged with other patrons. I went ahead and started eating as the food was getting cold and I assumed that he would make it right, Bad assumption as he never came back to check on us, my beer ran dry and there was no opportunity for another round. When he next appeared, it was with the check. I questioned him about the sizes and he stated ,"I rang in the side sizes validating my concern. He then came back and said, " no those were the full sizes, would you like a free cheesecake on me?" No, I want to be charged for what I ordered and what I ate. as you can see by the check, I had to pay for food I did not order and did not eat. It seems as if my used to be go to place in the county is suffering from a lack of customer service and I am sorry but there are too many other choices out there that value me as a customer. read more

More than just a local joint....delicious food, great beverages....but the staff go over and above....makes you feel like a local

I had heard of this place from my girlfriend, who has a friend that raves about this places smoked wings. Boy was I in for a shock. We arrived, ordered our drinks and decided to get an appetizer, the cheese bites. When they brought them out, there were hardly any on the plate. For $10.99 I expected to see a lot more than 15 tiny bits. They tasted fine, but the number of them was minuscule. We decided to order our food, I ordered 20 smoked wings, and she ordered a burger and fries. After placing our orders we waited 45 mins for the food to come out. During that time, our waitress never came to refill our waters. When it did, everything appeared okay. I got the pepper honey mustard, and garlic parm. I took a bite, and it tasted as if the wings had been bathing in the ocean for a week. The sauces were fine, but the meat contained a TON of salt. To the point where I couldn't taste the flavor of the smoke. My girlfriend ordered a burger and fries. She said, "the burger tasted like a cheap kroger burger patty, but had been over cooked". Fries were fine. They also placed the ends of the tomato, they even had the stem of the tomato included on the burger. When I brought the issue with my wings to the waitress's attention, I asked her to comp it after only eating 4 of them. I was hungry, but just couldn't stomach the disgusting saltiness of the wings. I would equate the wings taste to opening your mouth in the ocean. The waitress told me she would get it comped for me. I was happy with the result, and was going to chalk it up to just a bad batch of wings. When she returned with the check, she only took 10 off and not the full 20. She said I'd have to go to the bar to discuss with them even though she told me she'd comp it. At this point I was so fed up that I pulled cash out of my pocket, paid the bill in cash and left. Only paid the bill. The tip I would've given the waitress was now going to the food that should've been comped. Overall, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Stay far away from this place, unless you enjoy terrible food, terrible service, and loud terrible music playing in the background. If I could give this place a 0/5 I would. Extremely disappointed. Relaxed sports bar with variety! Visited many years ago and went with a friend recently and had a great experience. Attentive staff, great food and relaxed place to hang out. The service was fine but the food was awful. The BLT was soaked in oil. It was so greasy that I sent it back. Came back just a little better so I just gave up and didn't eat it. Two napkins were saturated with the oil that I tried to remove. Again, it was awful. Didn't know you could goof up a BLT but they managed! I did inform our waiter. No compensation was given. The food was delicious when my wife, my in-laws, and I went there at the end of September. It was not too busy for a Friday night but I'm pretty sure the weather drove people away. My boyfriend and I went to Midway after seeing it on Yelp. We absolutely fell in love with the place. It felt like the kind of spot where the proprietors have put their truest selves into every aspect. Like a place that the owners themselves would love to eat at and hang out. When you can feel the soul behind a place, it makes it so much more enjoyable. Going to plan to watch some football at this Midway this season. Ate at Midway for the first time after a recommendation from a relative. The food was good. The music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation. The staff was yelling across the bar at one another and they played a seriously inappropriate and offensive song with kids in the restaurant. (N word, F word...). Won't go back. There are great wings in this town, and then there's Midway Cafe. Midway is an absolute gem, and you have to try their Cajun Dry Rub and Carolina Gold wings. I have a tough time ordering anything else and typically order so much that we have leftovers to enjoy too (my strategy amd it works). I really can't help it because they are amazing. If you are a lover of wings or haven't had a genuinely GREAT wing, look no further. Oh, and everything on their menu is delicious too. Parmesan garlic wings were excellent. If I went here again I would probably only get wings. The burger was a cafeteria patty and dry as a bone. Even the egg yolk couldn't rescue it. This place was a great find. I love the little town of Fort Thomas. This place looks like a great little bar/hangout. I imagine there are tons of regulars. It's pretty small so get in early. The prices were a bit high but not too bad I guess. You pay a dollar more for fries as your side. They gave my bacon cheese fries when I didn't ask for them and charged me extra for them sooooooo The weirdest thing is the sink in the bathroom. It's like 1/3 of the normal one. This was the first time my husband and I ate at Midway Cafe, surprisingly, since we've lived in the area forever! I was very impressed with the atmosphere and food. We started off with the Nashville hot peanut butter wings. They were smoked to perfection, crispy, and super juicy. I wasn't sure what to think about trying the Nashville hot peanut butter rub at first but, it was outstanding! Not overly spicy, and had a nice sweetness. I loved it! I ordered the shrimp and bacon wrap. I loved that it was a spinach tortilla. It was loaded with huge, plump shrimp, and tons of bacon, with lettuce, tomatoes, and a house made Thai chili sauce. The wrap was so big, I only ate half. It also came with a huge side salad. My husband ordered the ribeye steak sandwich but, got it in wrap form. The steak was sliced thin, and really tender. It was stuffed with grilled onions and mushrooms, swiss cheese and, accompanied with a creamy horseradish sauce. It was so delicious! If you've never been to Midway, it's a must! This place has some of the best wings I've eaten in my lifetime and I'd say the have the best wings in greater Cincinnati area for sure. The sauce flavors are all pretty great but nothing insanely hot like they make them out to be. The spicy Nutella is novelty but worth getting on the side to try for sure. The best flavor in my opinion was the wasabi teriyaki, it's thick and just spicy enough to balance out some of the sweetness of teriyaki. I've been a few times and the burgers here are pretty good but nothing that is going to blow you away. I would still highly recommend them over most chains and a number of places in the area. The beer selection is always fairly interesting but slightly pricy for what they have on tap. The seating and aesthetics are great but anything in the Highlands area of NKY is very culturally homogeneous and boring so if you're not a rich white person ya might think they are looking at you funny. They probably aren't but Highlands spots give off that vibe sometimes. read more

Delicious burgers! I got the one with garlic aioli, jalapeños, and ham and it was phenomenal. The fries are delicious and nicely seasoned. The fried pickles were not very good probably wouldn't order those ever again. The wait staff was awesome and our glasses never went empty which is so nice. Stopped up for lunch figuring it'd be crowded for burger week, so we left extra time. Surprised to find light crowd along with a wait for service and food. Although burger week means "no changes to the $5 burger" they did ask "which cheese" which seemed like a customization to me... but, then when it arrived (eventually) I understood what they meant as it had the wrong cheese! Oh well, maybe burger week evenings are busier and staffed for such? All in all decent food, tap list, and bourbon selection with a noisy pub atmosphere, so it checks those boxes. I figured I'd post an update on one of my favourite bar/restaurants. It still looks great and people are still super awesome. I got their Cheese Curds as an appetizer once again and their still some of the best. Great breading, a great sharp cheese, and then to finish it off a superb, housemade marinara sauce for dipping. Combine all of that and you a tremendous combination of delicious flavours. I also got an order of 6 of their Jumbo Hot Buffalo Smoked Wings. The wings were indeed jumbo and perfectly cooked. The sauce was a relatively hot one and had great traditional Buffalo style flavour. I'd rank them an 8 out of 10 on my personal scale. I will take this moment to ask tge question of "What happened to the Midway Madness Challenge wings?" While I never got to properly take the challenge I really loved that flavour. Anyway for my main course I got one of their burgers; on called The Fort. It's a big ole tall burger topped with onion rings, cheddar cheese, and their special Midway BBQ sauce. It was a great sweet and smokey bbq sauce and when combined with their perfectly cooked burger patty and very flavourful (and huge!) onion rings it was quite delicious. You definitely won't be hungry after eating this burger as like I said before it's a big one. Put all of this great food together with a great environment and it was another great experience at Midway Cafe. Now please bring back the Midway Madness wings........ read more

The hours are misleading should say the bar is open until 1am but kitchen closes at 9 pm at least on Sunday. Plus they throughout the tea early. Food is good bar food but prices are a little hi for what you get. read more

Finally made it to Midway Cafe. Have heard great things about the staff, the chicken wings and the bourbon. None of the above disappointed. Got the blue cheese wedge. Holy moly. This was huge and had just the right amount of dressing and tomatoes, onion and bacon. Missed a meal today so this was perfect with the wings. The wings are all smoked and then flash fried finished so very moist and tender inside and a little crunch outside. As a New Yorker went to my standby hot buffalo. Not the typical buttery buffalo hot sauce 'm used to but good and crisp outside and moist and tender inside. And these aren't any tiny wings. Lots of tasty meat. Cant forget the great beer and bourbon selection! And a fun and friendly atmosphere and staff. Felt right at home from the moment I walked in. Fun, good food and fare, good people.
