Great Winter Getaway! This place was comfortable, tranquil and sweet. We live in the city so it was a perfect hour drive to get away and recharge. The food at the restaurant was good and they had live music on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. This is my go-to for cozy home cooking. It is easy to get to and really friendly! Sometimes the kitchen gets bogged down, but the servers and bartenders are always entertaining!! We booked an overnight stay during the Labor day weekend. As expected the cabin was nice, painted red with a quaint vibe. The surroundings were very calming. You can actually see steller jay birds hanging around the rooftops and around the lodge. We were also greeted with an awesome band playing different genres. They have a mini basketball court and a swimming pool. Inside the cabin, was not as I would've wanted, it is kind of outdated with the price we paid...the shower is too tight that the showerhead is literary right at your face, with no space to move. Sofa looks so old that i put a blanket to sit on it. Lesson learned never come here during the summer, they only provided 2 large fans, which didn't help with the heat at all.. we couldn't sleep since we were sweating the whole night, even with the windows open. Love the cozy cabin vibes! We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and there was a bit of a wait for our table of 4. We decided to play some billiards while we waited (which is $1 in quarters). Food was pretty average, but in my opinion one would mainly going for the cabin vibes vs how good the food is. I got a strawberry margarita and it tasted like a smoothie; little to no alcohol in it. Came in yesterday for a lunch break with two other friends. We rode our bikes from Duarte. Was greeted by a warm and friendly woman tending the fire. The lodge had a nice and cozy feeling. I got the hot chocolate right away which hit the spot since we were chilled to the bone. It was 50 degrees and I was freezing cold. We enjoyed our meal by the fireplace. I had a hamburger with fries. The waitress was very sweet, warm friendly and attentive. We are grateful for the good service. Also there is a water bottle dispenser right outside that is so appreciated to refill our water bottles. On warmer days there's even an ice chest with a scoop to fill our water bottles with ice and water before heading down the mountain. Came up here on winter break and it was the only spot I saw before going higher up. First impressions means everything and as soon as we got in we didn't see any host at all. There was this sign in sheet I guessed thats where you put your name down so I waited. While me and my family waited I noticed there was a fire place which was nice to get away from the snow. But the place looked so dirty and as I passed up people that were all eating going to the restroom I didn't see anything worth while eating. They look like they serve all cheap deep fried bar foods. Everything is just warmed up in fryer like mini corn dogs and French fries. I made up my mind I wasn't going to spend. $70 on bar food and I went back down the hill to enjoy a delicious pizza for the right price. Skip this tourist trap it's not worth it at all. read more

Cannot recommend enough! This is our second time here. First time was "mid Covid" and then again just very recently. Both times we stayed in the cabins and ate at the restaurant. Both times we were very impressed! The staff is AMAZING! They were so patient and friendly and helpful. All of them! The food was so good. I don't know where they get their French fries but YUM-O! The restaurant was so cozy and the service was very attentive. The cabins are so cute and cozy! We brought a jigsaw puzzle, had a fire in the fireplace and made hot chocolate. Despite being very busy the staff accommodated our somewhat annoying and random requests so quickly and so friendly. This is a hidden treasure less than an hour from us and we will definitely be back again and again! read more

Dropped by after a hike. Ordered coffee, hot chocolate, and chorizo burrito. Coffee and hot chocolate were okay. This review is for the chorizo burrito. Holy damn. It was so good. The chorizo was perfectly cooked (which is not always the case at other establishments). The egg was also perfect, soft and not all mashed in with the chorizo. It was piping hot. The tortilla was crispy on the edges and soft where it needed to be. The rice and beans on the sides were good. I like putting them on the burrito for each bite. My friends and I came here after hiking Cucamonga Peak. BEST chicken strips and fries I've ever had. Given the obvious fact that we were all hungry and so food tastes even better hungry, the fries were the crispiest fries I've ever had in my life. The portions were big and so the $12 was reasonable. I also loved how the BBQ sauce had a bit of a kick to it from pepper seeds. Host at the bar was also very friendly. :) Will definitely return when we hike Baldy next time. read more

My husband and I have stopped by on four occasions now, always after riding our bicycles to Baldy from Glendora. After several hours of climbing, a mid ride coke and meal before descending back down is such a treat. There's a bottle refill station just outside, which is so thoughtful for the cyclists. They have a breakfast menu until 11:30 am, and both their breakfast and lunch menus have solid choices. I've had an omelet for breakfast, which was very good. I've also had their chili, bacon burger, chef salad, and carrot cake. While it's not particularly spectacular, the food is generally good, consistent, and well prepared. Service leaves a lot to be desired though. On one of our visits, we arrived at 11:10, and I really wanted an omelette. We sat for 20 minutes, and I started getting anxious as it was almost 11:30 which would mean I could no longer order breakfast. We were sitting in the patio, so I went inside to the bar and asked if they could send a server to our table. I think they just forgot we were there. The server comes out at 11:32 and advises that the cooks are no longer making breakfast. I tried to nicely point out that, had someone come to check on us in a reasonable amount of time, the order would have been in prior to the cut off. She then went to the kitchen to ask them if they could accommodate my request, and they did, so that was appreciated despite the hassle. My omelet was very good and came out very fast, so that was a perk. The service continues to be slow at each of our four visits. One of the things that irks me the most is no one is ever there to greet you when you walk in. The staff is all running around attending to different things, and we just awkwardly wait until someone notices us. The last two times, we've just gone straight to the bartender to ask if we can take a seat, and that seems to yield a better result. After four visits, I still don't know the right protocol with this place. Do I wait until someone comes to me? Seat myself? Get the attention of staff to be placed at a table? Who knows, we just figure it out as we go each time. Once seated, we've always had to wait at least 10-15 minutes until a server initially comes by. Last time, we had to go hunt down the server to finally get a check even though we had finished our meal 15 minutes prior. And to be frank, it's never been particularly crowded here, so I have a hard time understanding why the service is soooo slow. In addition, the last two times we tried to get onion rings, they were out, and both occasions were only around noon, so that was a bit disappointing two times in a row. I'd give it 2.5 stars but will round up to give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Came here after spending the morning hiking to Timber Mountain. This place is right across the street from the Mt Baldy Visitor Center. Tired and hungry we saw this place and decided it was the easiest spot to grab some food before heading back down the mountain. Came around 2 pm on a Saturday and it was packed. We had to wait 15-20 minutes before getting seated. Once seated, the 4 of us were sat at a 3 person table, which we agreed to because we didn't want to wait any longer. The waitress was nice, she apologized for our wait, she had a table of 30 she was trying to serve at the same time. We ordered: - chili cheese fries as an app - shroom and swiss burger with onion rings - everyone else got burgers and sandwiches - side of potato salad - hot chocolate Everyone enjoyed their food it seems. A little pricey for what it is, although portions are large. The chicken breast was surprisingly good and the onion rings were super yummy. Go for the atmosphere more than anything else -- including the live bands that play at night. (Daytime jukebox selections were A-OK for me as well.) Service was a bit slow but super friendly. We went up to Mt Baldy with the intention of possibly hiking, but were feeling lazy so we went to grab lunch at Mt. Baldy Lodge. We were able to find a table outside without issue. The menu wasn't fancy but there were lots of things that appealed to me so I was happy. We had drinks and lunch, then we put on our bathing suits and headed to the pool. This place is rustic but absolutely heavenly. I'm not a Disney or theme park type of person so on vacation I like hiking, biking, being outside... this place was PERFECT. When i noticed everyone in my group of 5 was getting their food before me after being 2nd in the group to ordered. I immediately went to the waitress to ask if there was issue with my order. I know it was busy time but I was brushed off with you will get buzz on your pager when the order is ready. Waited around for another 10 minutes and I finally got a cook sever at right time to ask about my order Was told they given my food to someone else??? They said he will immediately cook my burger and page me to pick it up when it's ready. Food was ready 5 minutes later but I didn't receive any ranch dressing with my fries like my group did. Charming and welcoming. Made up the mountain for lunch with my family. The restaurant needs some tlc but it's charm and location are worth the drive. Food was good, not great but we enjoyed our lunch. We had the crispy chicken salad and the steak sandwich, I wish the steak would have been sliced onto the bread. The crispy chicken was good. Also, they do not have a kids menu. Long story short, if your headed up the mountain this is a quaint and charming stop to grab a bite. Parking is limited. read more

I would give this place a resounding 5 STARS IF they could just get some semi-fresh food in there...oy! I adore the whole setting. Cabins are great - clean, woodsy and reminiscent of great spots all through the Catskills. The staff was wonderful. Live band was a blast. But really Mt. Baldy Lodge, PLEASE get some clean ingredients on that menu, hand-make your french fries, craft a house chili recipe, bake your bread, source some grass-fed meat, maybe even grow a few organic veggies if you're feeling wild. It wouldn't take much for this special spot to be a total 360 hit so I truly hope they are taking note of reviews and choose to invest in serving higher quality food at some point very soon! read more

Where the hell do I start. Customer service was horrible. Unprofessional and extreme lack of communication between each other. Stood in line to be seated and was completely ignored along with my group of friends and they seemed so uninterested in providing us service as in letting us order drinks/food. They couldn't even handle a simple task of closing out our checks because they were to busy gossiping amongst each other. Funny how they can clearly communicate about gossip but not simple orders or closing out a tab. The environment was hostile towards us new comers and clearly they played favoritism towards other customers. I do not recommend coming to this place. You will be ignored and won't receive the service you expect. Only positive was the live music. read more

Stopped in here after an overnight on Cucamonga Peak. The plan was to have lunch and a beer while I waited for my ride. Had I only stopped there, this review would have been a bit better. Unfortunately, when my ride arrived, she decided to stay and have lunch, too. Simple enough, right? Except it wasn't. After getting a menu, we waited about twenty minutes without getting her order taken. Finally, I found our server and we ordered lunch for my ride. Only it never came. After maybe half an hour, I actually saw our server leave the restaurant, get in her car, and leave. That seemed odd, so I flagged down another worker and asked what the story was. She went to check on it and eventually came back with the food, plus a strange story that didn't really make sense, much less explain anything. Unfortunately, by then the burger was lukewarm and not tasty at all. Since we'd already been there much longer than we'd anticipated, my ride ate her lukewarm meal and we bounced. The food is fine. Not amazing. Fine. It's certainly not good enough to offset being forgotten by the wait staff. I do a lot of hiking in the area, and was really excited to try the restaurant, but it looks like I'll have to keep searching for a worthwhile spot in or around Baldy Village. read more
