I love love LOVE Evolve Distilling! I think this is my favorite place to have drinks because it checks all the boxes for me: delicious craft drinks, nice but relaxed ambiance, and great service. This was formerly Citrus Grove before it was taken over by the current owners. I enjoyed Citrus Grove just as much, and I am happy that Evolve doesn't make me miss it. My favorite drinks are their take on the White Russian and their White Hokkaido. The White Russian is special because they add pistachio, and it's just fantastic! The White Hokkaido is the matcha version, so instead of the coffee liquor, they use matcha, and it's delightful! They often have live jazz, which makes the place fun, though often on jazz nights, they require advance reservations or ticket purchase. Other nights are more quiet and perfect for a relaxed outing. They don't have any food, but there are often food vendors at the brewery across the way, and you can bring your own. I also enjoy that I can bring my dog with me, since I often visit after drinks at the brewery or the ciderie next door (both of which are dog-friendly). read more

Beverages: 5/5. Over the course of 4 hours, with copious amounts of water, I sampled the Tequila Mockingbird, the Sparkling Hugo, and the Blackberry Whiskey Sour. All were solid, but I think I have to give it to the Hugo. Direct, refreshing, and the perfect cocktail for a warm sunny day. Service: Uncle Phil and the young male bartender Saturday night shift (sorry bro, forgot your name) are hella Dope. Met the owners too. All around good vibes. Ambiance: 5/5. Epic. This place is great, cool little distillery with a relaxed atmosphere. The service here is always exceptional. The bartenders have always been exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable about their drinks. And they always have a great selection of specialty cocktails. So glad to see this business took over the location. The staff is awesome. The drinks are delicious. There is no food, but the brewery in the same lot usually has food available. Sometimes they do seasonal drinks, but you don't really know unless you go there. It would be great if they posted the seasonal menus on their social media. read more

The service was fantastic! The employees were warm and friendly, and very helpful and helping us choose our liquors for tasting. My husband and I each did a tasting of four different liquors. Couple of them were just OK, but there were a few that had interesting and enjoyable flavor profiles. We ended up buying a few bottles. We particularly enjoyed the single malt and the Mount Baldy gin. The ambience is a typical distillery interior. Mostly wood and comfortable. they don't have food there, but the brewery across the parking lot had a food truck. Will definitely be going back. read more

A nice little quiet cozy spot to have a drink. The staff is great and welcoming. They can pretty much make you anything you'd like or they come up with their own drinks in addition to what's on the menu. There is no food here, but you can bring in outside food. I like to either grab from the food truck at the brewery or often times the cider place has a little food stand too. read more

This place is great! I stumbled upon it on accident. I was going somewhere else, walked passed here and thought the inside looked nice and went in. I am so glad I did! The service was phenomenal, the drinks were phenomenal, everything was phenomenal. No food served, but you can bring outside food in. Cocktails are delightful. 10/10 recommend. The only negative (which honestly I won't ding a star for it) is the hours of operation. I wish they were open more days and later. But it's great and you should definitely go! read more

Found out about Evolve Distilling through Lucky's Coffee Roasters and I am super glad that i was able to find about this place. Unfortunately haven't had the full experience yet... but i came in looking to buy the coffee liqueur on a day they weren't open. They were still nice enough to let me in and welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to purchase the liqueur (which ABSOLUTELY deserves the gold medal). The bartender Zach was great and really highlighted the whole experience with a custom orange creamsicle cocktail. Popped in on Dec 1st 2023 and had a flight of their distilled spirits, all nice and smooth. Had the Mt Baldy Gin which was subtle with the expected conifer-esque botanicals, but not overpowering! As the bar-keep says, it reminds you of being in the mountain forest. The Orangecello liqueur was a delight as was "Persephine's" rye, which again was so smooth. There is so much more on the menu, I'll have to come back to check them all out. They offer bottles for sale of your favorites. The tasting room and bar are nicely laid out and relaxing. Apple maps didn't seem to know the exact location, but it is in the same building as IronBark (tasty dry ciders) but just to the East. Evolve is NOT in the same building as Claremont craft Ales (all three establishments are in the same business park and all stones throw from each other). There were two food trucks if one was hungry. With spirits, you shouldn't be guzzling, but instead sipping and enjoying. If you are coming alone, the bartender will keep you company! read more

Stoped by Saturday with some friends. Greeted by friendly staff and owner. 6 different cocktails were served that were beyond great. We left with three bottles to go. Awesome relaxing atmosphere. The Gins were my favorite and all ultra premium but priced fairly. Coconut rum was probably the biggest surprise for me. Who knew a coconut rum could be great. I'll be back. read more

Security is pretty cool and aren't afraid to kick folks out for acting a fool. Parking is anywhere you'd park if you were going to the Fox or Glass House. Restrooms and the merchandise tables were all on the second floor. The back of the first floor was a bar and in the entrance to the side was also a bar too, I think. Security is way tighter here than all of the other 3 venues I went to to go see concerts during the week, so I'm sure shenanigans have occurred. No canned drinks in certain areas, no chains (definitely warranted this warning since lots of people dressed alt for this show and had to go return things to their cars, etc.), and no re-entry after the concert was over, so we couldn't get the Chiikawa Jiluka freebie that someone was passing out. Boo! The concert stage is bizarrely in the corner, but the sound quality was nice enough. I was definitely able to hear the vocalist better at this venue than I was at the NorCal stop, but the lighting was definitely better at the last event. Even though I didn't risk it in the pit this time, I walked out when people were still there and if I was there during the concert, even with my elevated shoes, it would be much more difficult to view the stage than at the other venues that I've been to. It definitely got super crowded and unlike the other venues, there's also a gap between the crowds and the stage, so security was definitely making sure people weren't crowd surfing onto the stage, but it also meant that when the artist threw something in the crowd, some of them had to jump down, grab it, and try again. My biggest qualm was how HOT it was. Even from the second floor balcony, near a fan, and with it not being super crowded up there, I was sweating. I can't imagine what it's like for the people in the pit. Overall, not awful, but there's better venues out there in SoCal.

We remembered this place from when it was Leo's and had always associated it with great service, so we decided to give it a try again. When we arrived, the host asked if we had tickets. We explained that we did not and that we simply wanted to eat and have a drink on the patio. The host told us that was no problem and said, "We will have a server come out to you." We sat down, and our server was attentive. She took our drink and food orders, and everything seemed fine. Once our drinks arrived, however, security approached us and made a big issue about the fact that alcohol was not permitted on the patio. We explained that our server had brought the drinks to us at the outside table. Security spoke with the hosts, who apparently also believed that it was okay. Then a woman with red hair approached our table. She did not introduce herself, but immediately spoke to us in an extremely condescending and scolding manner, asking who told us we could have drinks outside and how we even got seated at the table. She told us that we needed to take our drinks inside. My friend asked whether that meant we would have to purchase tickets to enter the event, and she said yes. I explained that we had specifically told the host we were only there to have a small dinner and a round of drinks. Instead of acknowledging the obvious communication failure among their staff, she continued explaining the "technicalities" of their policy to us. The problem was not that there was a policy. The problem was that your own staff failed to communicate that policy consistently. If alcohol is not permitted on the patio, the host should have told us that before seating us, and the server should never have brought the drinks outside. At one point, the host/manager offered to pay for our round of drinks. We declined. We weren't looking for free drinks or compensation. At that point, we were simply completely turned off by the way the situation had been handled. What was even more unprofessional was watching this woman call our server out in front of us, telling her that alcohol was not permitted on the patio and taking the drinks from her. The server had done exactly what she was instructed to do. The issue was clearly a lack of communication and training--not the server's fault. We ultimately asked them to cancel our food order. We had not even consumed our drinks. We simply got up and left. A business can have whatever policies it wants, but those policies need to be clearly communicated to both customers and staff. Customers should not be scolded or treated disrespectfully because employees were not on the same page. Unfortunately, what we remembered as a place with great service when it was Leo's was not the experience we had tonight. Skip this place, you aren't missing out.
