The lights of the San Gabriel basin
    Danny P.

I have been wanting to share with our community a local spot that does not take too long to get to. It's a really nice ride and the pictures that I'm sharing its more beautiful in person. Mount Wilson has the Observatory, the hiking trails, clean restrooms and even a snack Bar .It's a very good place to relax for the afternoon and enjoy the view.We stopped to order some pastrami grinders, and had lunch up on the mountain. it's amazing how beautiful the SGV and the basin looks from above, especially above the cloud cover that's a whole different view. there's a huge parking space where you don't even have to get out of your car to see the view.

For my 500th review, it shall be Mt. Wilson! Mt. Wilson gives another dimension to the lives of Angelenos. I am not aware of another place that is so close to the city providing a challenging hike up an actual mountain, a scenic drive through mountains and forests, and of course chance to see and feel snow in the winter. While it's not the most beautiful nor the tallest mountain in the area and the observatory up there is... not very visitor friendly, I don't think you can ask for more for a place so close to a major metropolitan city that is LA; it's all about accessibility! There are several ways to get to (or attempt to get to) Mt. Wilson. You can: Drive up the 2, the scenic Angeles Crest Highway from La Canada Flintridge, and take Mt. WIlson Red Box Road. It's a pretty scenic and winding drive, about 20 miles from where the highway starts. Once you get to Mt. Wilson and want to park, you will be required to have the $5 Adventure Pass. You can buy this at the Cosmic Cafe by the observatory once you're up there. As for hiking, there are 3 ways to get up to Mt. Wilson. Hike up from the west, east, or straight up from below it. 1. The hike from the west starts in the Altadena/Pasadena area via Mt. Wilson Toll Road. Best bet would be to start at Eaton Canyon and take the Toll Road up past Henninger Flats to the top. While the Toll Road provides for a very wide and safe trail, this hike isn't as scenic or as interesting as the others. This hike is almost 10 miles from Eaton Canyon, so it's about a 20 mile round trip. Alternatively, you can start your hike at Bailey Canyon Park in Sierra Madre and hike up past Jones and Hastings Peaks to the Toll Road; this would be about a 16 mile round trip hike. 2. The hike from the east starts from the Chantry Flats area. You hike the Big Santa Anita Canyon and take Sturtevant trail to Mt. Wilson at the Upper Zion Trail junction which would take you to the observatory side of Mt. Wilson. You can then come down on the Mt. Wilson trail from the Skyline Park parking lot, and transfer to Upper Winter Creek at Manzanita Ridge. This hike is about 15 miles rountrip, and offers the best amount of shade and with great scenery and I would say is the easiest way to hike to the top of Mt. Wilson. 3. The last way is to hike up via Mt. Wilson trail, one of the oldest trails in the area that pretty much goes from the base to the top. It starts in the streets of Sierra Madre and is about 15 miles round trip, though it can feel slightly more if you transfer to the Toll Road at the end instead of staying on the Mt. Wilson Trail. This is a beautiful trail, without much shade at first and then gets better. The spaces are open and you can look out to the city in the distance unlike the Chantry Flats route where you are often surrounded by trees and canyons. This is a very popular trail and has some pretty heavy traffic for at least the first half of the trail. If you're driving up to Mt. Wilson during the winter, be mindful of the chain requirements and road closures when the conditions get bad; you can check the status online. Also, the Skyline Park (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mount-wilson-observatory-mt-wilson-2?select=Xs0_1V6F34TNZFmiDytNuA#Xs0_1V6F34TNZFmiDytNuA) which is where the Cosmic Cafe and the observatory are located in closes during the winter so don't be a noob like me and hike up the mountain in the snow without bringing lunch expecting to eat at the cafe. They're closed from Dec. 1 to March 31 (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mount-wilson-observatory-mt-wilson-2?select=Xs0_1V6F34TNZFmiDytNuA#7uJ05DgG-2triNXnDBstTQ).

Fog or Cloud? Who cares, we made it!

OK.... I'm rating this a 5star, but I will have to say, this kicked my ass. I have been working up to this hike for some time. Training 2-3 times per week, I thought I was ready to hit the summit of this monsterous peak..... well boy oh boy, was I in for a surprise. In the midst of being treated for upper respiratory infection, it probably wasn't the best idea to schedule a hike on this given day... but that's what we nurses do. We ventured to the top via Chantry Flats. The hike is absolutely beautiful, lots of water along the way (you know we Californians get excited at the sight of water). The incline is steady, and sometimes treacherous, but it is doable. We hiked for approximately 6hours before getting to the top. We did have a quick stop at Sturtevant Camp, took some photos and swung on the swing before continuing on. It was very foggy or maybe we were in a cloud. Once we got to the top, most of us lost battery life of our phones, but in reality, they were just too cold and shut off on their own. We trekked Champagne with us to the top so that we could pop some bubbly to celebrate our victory march. Our hands were so cold, we barely could open our bottles. I'm definitely a novice hiker, as I took out my rain jacket and gloves from my backpack prior to the hike... knowing that I needed room for my gourmet cheeses, crackers, and champagne. Huge mistake. My hands were so cold, my head was too. It started to drizzle up there, again, unprepared and longing for my jacket that I left on the kitchen table. There is a cute little museum up at the top of Mount Wilson Observatory. Doors were open and we gladly went in. Great little place for history of this magnificent gem in our backyards. Cosmic Cafe was naturally closed as it was a weekday. Wonderful bathrooms with ice cold running water to wash your cold hands with. We took an alternate route down which met up with the trail that we started at. This hike is a must do if you live in the area. Even if you don't, give it a try.

Mt Wilson is a nice destination for hikers, children, and people of all ages. It can be reached by vehicle or by hiking from one of the various, surrounding trails. There is a nice covered picnic area with a cafe that is open during the summer months. The actual observatory is about 1/2 mile further. Views here are nice but not as spectacular as I had imagined them to be. If you hike to reach this area, the views are better on the way up. Still, it's worth visiting at least once, especially if you are a Los Angeles resident.

I am the unabashed queen of the fuddy duddies. This review isn't about hiking or the observatory tour. This is for the lovely pavilion up top where one can just sit in the shade. My hubby & dog love nature walks and if it's do-able, I'll tag along. But the drive up was so twisty-turny that by the time we reached the top, I was pea-green. My head was spinning and my heart was palpitating. The altitude kicked my patootie. So I told him to just leave me there in the pavilion while they wandered around to Echo Rock and wherever. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tlWnMF3BooYxXos_svyPIQ&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ Turned out that I had a nice time while hanging out there! Also, a lovely breeze helped me feel better. There's the Cosmic Cafe serving hot and cold food. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=18ALoaLTddrItwt9KIw-6Q&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ If I wasn't already queasy, I wouldn't have minded a bowl of chili or something. Picnic tables all around so that you could enjoy the views while eating. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ENF58u6yCnjnoxwznIyu-w&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ Many people were making good use of the water-refilling station right next to the pavilion. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=nnOYDLn-xd0bk_3iBbuKYg&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ If you're going on the Observatory Tour, here's where you meet the guide. Tickets can be purchased at the cafe. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=r2eg_8363BfWxZTnDIEWzA&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ He happened to be there while I was sitting around and was telling some interesting stories. Too bad we had the dog with us. This guy was so entertaining, I would have liked to join the group. He was nice enough to tell me how to log into their wi-fi. (Settings. Cosmic Cafe) There's clean restrooms a but further up the path. It's dog-friendly, but you must keep them on a leash. Bring poop bags! Our dog apparently went crazy seeing all those trees and tried to mark every one of them. So, we all had fun up there. But in different ways. The ride down was better for me. Note: Don't forget to stop by one of the ranger stations to buy your $5 (National Forest Adventure) all-day parking pass. Passes can also be bought at the cafe.and then taken back to your car's dashboard. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_VGFq4-XqdMuAhrpt4ZSWQ&userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ

I've hiked this mountain 5 times and it never gets easier! It's less painful every time but it's definitely a knee buster! I normally start from Chantry Flat and go on the Upper Creek trail towards Mt. Wilson. The people who frequent this mountain are mainly very friendly. There seems to be an old Korean hiking group that frequent this mountain very often. Today I hiked it by myself to see the snow on top of Mt. Wilson. As I got nearer to the top, the more cold it got! We were above the clouds and the view was amazing. As I was eating my breakfast/lunch/snack my fingers started to freeze because I forgot my gloves. I'll post some awesome photos from my hike today. It took me 8 hours but I'm a little sore from hiking Mt. Baldy on Friday. Also the snow made it a little hard to gain good footing hiking upwards, luckily I had hiking poles for balance and anti-slippage. I would recommend this to everyone! If you can't do a 16 mile hike just go half way or there are various other trails that you can do that loops around Chantry Flat. This hike kicks your ass. 7 miles pretty much uphill the whole way. Great scenary though. First two miles is unshaded and you're along about a 200ft cliff. The next two miles is much better, you're in the shade and there's a constant stream and some waterfalls off the side you can hear. The third leg is similar to the 2nd. The last leg to the top you're in the pine trees with some good views of smoggy pasadena to one side and the rest of the angeles forest to the other. The downside to this hike are the freakin' flies. From mile 2 through 7, they are all over you. I stopped for water and had about 30 buzzing all over, got bitten a few times (not really painful, just annoying). I even doused myself with 15% deet. Another guy on the trail had 40% deet and that didnt help either. On the way back I saw guys with full beekeeper head screens...hmm that would have been good. No mosquitos though. Best to do in the early morning, because on your way down nearing mile 13-14, its hot and no shade. One plus was a cool little waterfall on the way. That was a nice stopover to catch your breath.

The views here are amazing on a clear day. I think this is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, and usually has local snow when it does snow in the winter. When our kids were little, we would bring them here and play in the snow. Also, there are huge telescopes about a quarter mile further, where you can see planetary alignment and star shows. There are special lectures, as I understand, and at night, the place is perfectly dark and away from City lights. I think the restaurant, Cosmic Cafe is only open until November 29th, so just a few more weeks of real food will be available up here. I was hoping to get a clear shot of the basin, but due to an inversion layer, I could not get a very clear shot to the ocean. I'll have to come up in the winter time I guess.

Wow is all I can say! The views are majestic. It's hard to believe that mountains of this size exist just mere miles from Los Angeles. Under the radar destination it is, I recommend this to anyone.

Perfect hike for a hot day…read more I love waterfall hikes and listening to the sound of calm, running water. The added challenge on these hikes is the multiple stream crossings. I brought some hiking poles which helped with balance and probing for loose rocks and logs. If you want to get parking in the lower lot, it's best to come before 8AM. We found parking in the second lot. An Adventure Pass or Day Pass is required. Parking is enforced. A car received a ticket for being in a No Parking zone. The start of the trail is nicely shaded. The second half is a hilly, narrow, sun exposed path which routes back into the canyon toward the Lower Switzer Falls. I'm glad they had fencing on some narrow and steep parts of the trail. We encountered an active rattlesnake which headed down the mountain, so be on the lookout. Overall, the hike takes about 3 hours for 5.5 miles. The additional hike back up to the parking lot was about 1/4 of a mile. Note: if you need to use the restroom, it's best to bring your own toilet paper and to go before you start your hike. It was kind of smelly, but if you gotta go... you gotta go.

What impressed me most about this trail is that it's almost fully covered by shade. We went in the late afternoon, and I'd say probably 80-85% of it is covered. Very impressive! Here are some useful tips: 1. There are three parking lots: two are next to the highway, and one is near the hiking entrance. I'd recommend getting a parking pass if possible. 2. There are only three restrooms at the beginning of the trail, so use them when you see them. 3. If you're aiming to go to the waterfall, make sure to look for the signs. Some signs aren't very clear, so we had to stop and ask other hikers frequently. Luckily, people there are super friendly and happy to help. Just pay attention to your surroundings. 4. The trail is dog-friendly, but dogs must be on a leash. 5. Waterproof hiking boots are recommended. All in all, it's a fun trail. It's a great place for a picnic and camping, and it's very close to the stream. Great for kids, families, and pets!

You may notice some freeway noise in some parts. HOW TO GET THERE: Set your GPS/Navigation to "Descanso Garden". You're going to park inside Descanso Garden anyways. Its free and its a 3 minute walk from the Trailhead. Do Not use the Yelp app's "Get Directions" on your smartphone. It'll take you to someone's house. I wish Yelp would correct this. PARKING: Don't tell anyone I told you this but I always park at Descanso Garden Parking Lot. It's free. I park my car right at the entrance to Descanso Garden so that I'm close to the entrance. There's always a gazillion empty parking spaces here. As soon as you park your car, walk back to the entrance (towards the main road, Descanso Drive) and then turn left onto the dirt sidewalk. You'll walk for a minute and find the 3 little yellow steel posts that other Yelpers described. That's your landmark for the entrance to the Trail. TRAILHEAD ACCESS: The trail begins about a 3 minute walk from the Descanso Garden parking lot. So when you exit the Descanso Garden parking lot, immediately turn left. Walk on the dirt sidewalk for less than a minute and on the left hand side you'll see 3 yellow steel posts (you know the kind that prevents people from driving over it). Walk through these 3 yellow posts and you'll find yourself walking on asphalt flanked by 8 feet tall brown colored fencing. You'll ask yourself "Am I at the right place?". Trust me, you are. Follow the signs and suddenly you'll find yourself at the trailhead. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy. I went to Descanso Trail with my in-laws today. They're both in their mid-70's (very healthy) and they had no problems. The most difficult part of this trail comes about 5 minutes into the walk. You'll find yourself staring at an uphill climb consisting of several switchbacks. There's lots of loose rocks that someone can slip on. Especially small children and elderly. Climbing up is not bad. Even for my mid-70's in-laws they had no trouble. Did it without resting. Coming down these switch-backs is a little more challenging but definitely do-able for the healthy elderly. A walking/hiking stick will help. The rest of the hike is smooth sailing. Slight uphill and downhill walking here and there. Nothing challenging. The trail is made of compacted dirt, mainly about 5 feet to 10 feet wide. If you're a good hiker, if you've hiked Half Dome then this Descanso Trail hike will be a 'walk in the park'! BABY STROLLER: For about 99% of this trail, a stroller will have no problems whatsoever. However, within 5 minutes of starting this hike (read my "Difficulty Level" section above) you will find yourself at the bottom of an upward climb through some switchbacks. I think some healthy parent with a capable stroller probably could push the buggy uphill. But I believe for most parents, this will pose a challenge. You're better off holding the baby in your arms and having someone else carry the stroller uphill. Luckily, this uphill walk will take less than 5 minutes. After this, the rest of the trail is easy sailing for a stroller. Mainly compacted dirt. Keep in mind there are some gently upward and downward hills you need to navigate. CELLPHONE RECEPTION: I had 3 to 5 bars on my Verizon iPhone the whole time on the trail. No problems with reception at all.

We knew we were close when we saw the mailbox along the trail with a chain blockading the road to the teepee. That's when we ran into two Kenyan women who gave us a quick heads-up about what was ahead: stunning lavender fields, a cool telescope (I thought it was a model of the Griffith Observatory--haha), and even a little maze hidden within the flora and bushes as you get closer to the teepee structure. The sisters also mentioned that the area is actually private property, but the owners generously allow people to visit. It is very easy to do so if you are not paying attention. There is also one portion that becomes very steep. Take your time and bring a stick or poles if you need to. Other than that, the views are breathtaking, so enjoy! I would 1000% do this trail again, but only in a larger group with more experienced hikers. Hoping they are able to locate Monica Reza!! Please, please, please, do not leave anyone behind on their own. This is not an easy trail to guide yourself. There was a lovely man we met on the trail who hikes this consistently, and he cautioned us against losing people.

Getting up to Waterman peak isn't terribly technical - more of a straightforward moderate hike on well marked trails with tons of biodiversity and beautiful views. I hiked it towards the end of June and there were beautiful native SoCal blooms scattered along the trail - with so many native bees! The hike is through a burn scar (from the Peak Fire in 2021 I think) - so it can be a bit barren and burned up in places but it's heartening to see how well the area is recovering. I also ran into countless Pygmy Nuthatches (a lifer for me!!), White-headed Woodpeckers, squirrels, chipmunks, and even some cute tiny spiders! But this is Black Bear and Mountain Lion country so be vigilant and carry bear spray. All in all, I hiked around 6.4 miles with around 1380+ feet elevation gain. The trails are narrow in a lot of spots and mostly consists of rocks, loose dirt, and fine gravel. The first half of the trail is through forest and burn scar. The last half after the peak and old ski resort (long closed) is very exposed fire road with no shade and minimal views. On subsequent hikes I tend to skip that part and just turn around after the peak bc I like that part of the trail better lol. The peak of Waterman Mtn sits at 8030 feet. There's a great sign at the peak made by @peakart125 (on instagram) - it's lovely and makes for a fun way to celebrate making it all the way up! There's a sort of false peak right before the actual peak so I highly recommend making sure you've downloaded the trail map on AllTrails before heading out since cell signal is minimal to nonexistent on the trail. The views from the peak are a tad obstructed by rocks and trees - but you still get nice pocket views of Twin Peaks, the valley, and Mt Wilson observatory. It's also interesting to explore the old ski resort near the peak. There's tons of equipment and a chair lift but it doesn't look like it's been opened for years probably. AllTrails also shows a bathroom up there but I didn't find one so come prepared. There's a bathroom next to the paved parking area in a campground entrance at the trailhead. There's plenty of parking - almost all paved. You'll need an adventure pass to park bc it's in the Angeles National Forest - but they accept America the Beautiful passes too! I pretty much had the trail to myself on the weekday early morning. I only ran into two people - turned out it was search and rescue looking for missing hiker Monica Reza who went missing the weekend before my hike (I think she was last seen June 22nd, 2025). I helped a bit in the search on my way out but no luck. My understanding is she's still missing (I included a photo - they're still looking for volunteers to help search if you're interested!) - be aware and keep a lookout if you do the trail! They also have Instagram and FB pages for updates.

It's certainly steep, but I didn't have any issues with it. After 2.2 miles (maybe 40 minutes-1 hour of hiking) you'll come to a water tower where the trail splits and is unmarked. Take the trail on the right and after a couple hundred feet is a small rock pile designating a smaller trail to the right. Take this if you're intent on the mountaineer route up to Strawberry. STRAWBERRY MOUNTAINEER TRAIL The steepness definitely increases as you continue up the ridge line. You'll come to the first rocky cragg where you'll need to use your hands and feet to climb. Be very careful as some of the rocks are loose and will crumble as you grab them. There is no defined trail just get to the top of the crag however you like. After that you'll continue on the ridge to the summit. The trail is very overgrown with Spanish Bayonets and Poodle Bush. Avoid touching the plants as much as possible but you WILL touch them. Although the trail is overgrown it's pretty obvious where you should be going. I unfortunately had to turn around before the last bouldering part because I started the hike too late in the day. Will have to come back! Happy hiking!

Hiked up Strawberry Peak on April 14 and had a great experience. What I really liked about the…read moretrail were the two separate rock climbs near the peak of the mountain. Both rock climbs are located at an elevation between about 5000 to 6000 feet, so if you're planning to do the hike during the winter season, it's probably a good idea to check the snow level before heading out. No equipment is needed for the rock climbs, and there are markings on the rocks (arrows in a variety of colors) that point out the best route to take. It can be a little difficult at times to find the arrows or the correct route to take, but if you take your time you shouldn't have any problems. I have to admit though that there was a moment or two when I was hanging onto a rock (on the side of a mountain and without any equipment) where I thought to myself - uh, what am I doing? The trail is pretty steep, about a 2700 feet elevation gain during the 3 mile ascent up to the peak, so with the two rock climbs it provides a pretty good workout. Definitely a much better workout than a 5-6 mile run on relatively flat ground. Even though the hike is only 6 miles round trip, I would budget at least 4 to 5 hours to complete the hike. The two rock climbs take some time to navigate.

Owl Trail is a short loop half-mile trail Cherry Canyon Park that connects Flint Canyon Trail to Cerro Negro Trail. It's located in Hampstead Rd and Cherry Canyon Motorway in La Cañada Flintridge, CA. I came late morning after Christmas (12/26) and savoring the warm weather (75F). The trail is considered Easy Moderate for experienced hikers with an elevation gain of 390 feet. Moreover, the Owl Trail, Cherry Motorway, and Liz's Loop is a loop trail with a distance of 1.57 miles. The northeastern portion of the Owl trail from Flint Canyon trail to the trail marker is a beautiful shady trail among magical oaks. The upper portion of Cerro Negro Trail is steep and rocky which lead to Five Points and Sugar Loaf. The trail is doggo friendly, single friendly, married friendly, family friendly, good for running, biking and dancing. Lol. ;D The trails were well kept and free of graffiti. Furthermore, the trail has ample of direction sign post which was helpful. I spent roughly 2 hours (6.07 km) hiking, a perfect cardio workout. As for parking, there's no designated parking area for visitors. Thus, park along Hampstead road but careful the road has Tow Away Zone. Overall, I enjoyed hiking Owl trail and it's other interconnected trails. I recommend this trailhead.

The trail starts on the left when you enter the main entrance to Cherry Canyon on Hampstead Rd. It is a nice cardio workout because it goes uphill the whole way and gets really steep in some parts. The erosion of a few parts of the trail makes it a little slippery, so make sure you wear some shoes with tread on them. My son was wearing his Vans and I was amazed he didn't slip or fall going up. There is also a section with a lot of loose rocks, so watch your step. I much prefer going up this trail than going down. I have gone down it once and that was enough. To get to the top of the trail it is .68 miles and about 332 feet in elevation gains. You heart rate should increase quite a bit if you don't stop or are talking to a friend. When you get to the top of the trail you will intersect the Ridge Motorway. You can either turn left and extend your hike up to the Lookout Station, take a little trail called The Ultimate Destination Trail on the left or just head toward Glendale. If you chose to take the Ridge Motorway to Glendale then you can take a detour to the Catalina Verdugo Trail by the Glendale Sports Complex. If you turn right on Ridge Motorway when you get to the top of the Owl Trail you can do a loop to get you back down to the bottom. When you see the paved road on the left there will be large signs for Descanso Motorway and Cherry Canyon Motorway. To get back to you car take Cherry Canyon Motorway. If you want to take the Descanso Motorway you can add a few miles to you hike. I would suggest that you park another car down by Descanso Gardens or you'll just have to walk back along Descanso Drive to Chevy Chase and then Hampstead Road. Miscellaneous Information: The La Canada Trails Council indicates that the Owl Trail is .53 miles, but I measured it on Map My Hike and it is .68 miles from the bottom to the Ridge Motorway. http://www.lcftrails.org There are waste bins and bags at the bottom of the trail, so if you forget your doggie waste bags then grab a couple. Please pick up after your dog.

The stairs serves well as an easy hike or an exercise spot for those who love stair climbing. One thing I did not expect is that the stairs go up and down. Rather than take you higher and higher, some of the stairs just takes you across hills which for me is disappointing. Also, I did not find the houses along the trail particularly scenic. They are probably nice for Pasadena but definitely a far cry from what you see in nearby Arcadia, San Marino, La Canada, etc. Overall, I consider the Secret Stairs a local attraction. It's a worth a visit if you live less than 20 minutes away and its a fun neighborhood novelty but it's definitely not worth your time if you don't live in the area. Parking: I parked on the street on Elmwood which is the beginning of the trail, but I don't highly recommend it. It's not a particularly well maintained street and it is super narrow and steep without proper curbs/sidewalks. There is also a sign that says 'Tow Away on Red Flag Days'. Refer to the affixes picture. If I returned, I would either park on the street prior to Elmwood or just skip to a different segment.

I've attempted this hike once before and failed to do the loop as I started later in the day and wasn't able to finish it; however, I just recently went again with a few of my friends and this time was able to accomplish it within, I want to say 3-4 hours? I wasn't tracking it but it was a good hike--recommend going early to beat the heat or maybe in the afternoon so it's not hot. My only recommendation is to take the path on the right first when you come across the split at the Beaudry Loop since there's shading from the trees and it's much easier, as it felt like it was a steady incline. Also, when coming back down from the other side, it was steeper but much easier to come down than to hike uphill, which I did the first time I did this hike. A great, challenging hike for anyone who is currently looking for new places to climb. Due to the fires in Eaton Canyon and Malibu, there are less options to trek at the moment but this is a solid choice. I hiked this loop trail on a cool Tuesday (12/06) morning where very little to no hikers on the trail.
