"These twelve mosaics, collectively known as "The Greenwich Village Murals," show some of the interesting and diverse history of the Greenwich Village neighborhood surrounding this station. They were created by ceramic artist Leo Grozwol in collaboration with fifth and six grade students from a local school (Public School 41)." "The murals are divided into four sets of three murals each, with the following subtitles: Bohemians, Founders, Providers, and Rebels. There is a key for each set of murals on the wall nearby, helping visitors to identify each person featured in the murals." Wow, learn something new every day. This station is always busy, serviced by the 7th Avenue Local Line 1 train and also 2 when it runs local at night, however unfortunately MTA has no immediate plans to make it accessible with ADA compliant upgrades. That being said, in 1994 MTA installed tile mosaic murals designed by P.S. 41 students guided by artist and Lower East Side social worker Lee Brozgol - a work that captures the rich historic figures that shaped not only the West Village, but many whose influence extended throughout the U.S. and globally. Connects you to almost wherever you need to go in Manhattan on on the East or West side, Queens, Brooklyn or the Bronx. The underground passageway also connects you the the World Trade Center Memorial, Brookfield Place, and Path trains... just follow the signs. Great way to stay dry if you work in the area during the winter or the rain storm and have to get from the train station to Path/Brookfield Place, etc. Various exits will lead you to where you need to go, but one should know or have to figure out which exit to take or ask someone. Escalators in the Fulton Center will lead you to certain trains - mid-level is the 4,5 and lower levels are the rest. Follow the signs. The Fulton Center Station also has Dunkin and other eateries where you can purchase snacks and food if you need to grab a snack before you head to/from your destination. Also, refill your Omni card now that Metrocard has been retired, or just tap your credit/debit card to pay.

I mostly go to the front of the platform the J going to Jamaica since the front of the platform is much more bearable. The end of the platform got a lot of smokers. J trains take forever to come compared to the 4 and 5 trains, which come like every second. Sucks that the J trains take forever. Got so much anxiety and impatience waiting in this train station. Also sometimes the train is packed when the previous station is Broad Street, the last stop on the J train. So why is the J train packed with no seats at Fulton?!?

Kind of is bad looking and icky. There's lots of crowds and many weirdos. It gets you to Barclays Center. It serves the B, D, N, Q, and R Trains. Those looking to get to Barclays Center take this as the cheapest way. It feels cheap. There's no coming in style. Actually the station is older than the arena. This was serving the area long before that. Get here for a cheap way to Barclays Center. It's much better than paying a ripoff for parking. There's also plenty of transfers.

My local subway station the Q entrance at 94th street has finally gotten rid of the horrible…read morescaffolding that was covering it forever and a day. Multiple working escalators here but no elevator. There is usually a food cart next to the entrance where you can score a bottle of water for a dollar. A new deli market recently opened next to it. Also, at this entranceway this is no MTA booth here being manned and usually no staff guarding the turnstiles. I've viewed many people not paying and hopping over or crawling under the turnstiles over the years.

There's also a Public Space area. The food carts are still doing a good business on this side of the street too. When I was there today people were waiting in line at my favorite vendor. When I go to the train station is usually clean and is now very updated compared to the one I use in Babylon. It's kind of behind sunrise across from Mulcahy's and the spoon. On that side, where you can go in to talk to an employee to get tickets for the train, there is a screen on the outside of the building with a list of trains that are going to stations and it tells you if they're on time or not, which is nice. And also tells you what time they're coming in so that way you're not running and guessing when you get there. I like the fact that they have it on the outside because now you don't have to run in the building to see if they're on time or late.

This 23rd St. Subway Station at Madison Square Park, where Broadway and 5th Avenue intersect is…read moreserviced by BMT Broadway Line trains (i.e., those marked yellow between Brooklyn and Queens or Uptown) when they're running local in Midtown Manhattan. [That service, subject to change for multiple reasons, presently includes: R at all times except night, W on weekdays, N weekends and nights, as well as Q at night.] Really fun mosaics of various hats historic hats worthwhile to check out line both platforms! Pleasantly surprised to learn more about them. While I originally thought they're tied to milliners situated in the late 1800s "Ladies' Mile" District, a closer look revealed that each whimsical head cover connects to a figure whose time in New York crossed 23rd Street when it was a big cultural district between 1880 and 1920! (FYI - That's when Madison Square Garden was actually located at E. 26th St. and Madison Avenue off its namesake Madison Square Park.) Small signage under each hat indicate whose head the hat may have appeared on or flown off! London-born later New Yorker artist Keith Godard, created this "Memories of 23rd Street" 2003 piece. Apparently at one point, he lived at the nearby Chelsea Hotel which seeded his interest in the characters that frequented this neighborhood. To add, rumors circulated that the height of the above 1902 "skyscraper" Flatiron (a.k.a. Fuller) Building caused the area to be more windy, impacting people's clothing. You'll notice headwear of still well-known figures such as: Mark Twain, Harry Houdini, Thomas Edison, Marie Curie, O'Henry, Eleanor Roosevelt, Florenz Ziegfeld, Lillie Langtry, plus John and Ethel Barrymore. The top hat of P.T. Barnum was juxtaposed to reflect the height disparity with a cap of his performer General "Tom Thumb!" Figures lesser known today are also accounted for. Of course, since it's subway art, it includes William Barclay Parson, Chief Engineer of the Rapid Transit Commission! Godard indicated that today's subway passengers might enjoy envisioning people waiting for trains on the opposite platform donning hats they are beneath. Given this station provides the closest subway access to Madison Square Park, the iconic Flatiron building, local shopping and other businesses, not to mention a major crosstown street, it could benefit from MTA installing elevators! People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station! MTA, make this 23rd Street Subway Station accessible to everyone!
