It's also one of the only LIRR stations in NYC with a crossing, so don't be running rate if you're catching a train on the other side of the platform. Purchase your ticket ahead of time. There's no indoor waiting area and there's only one shelter, but the platforms rarely get crowded, so it only really matters if it's super cold outside. There's also a decent-sized parking lot with a cab service (wouldn't recommend the latter unless you're in a hurry or the Q36 isn't running). Speaking of that 36, it used to wait for the Queens-bound trains to arrive during the evening rush. Don't know if it still does. The surrounding area is safe, so there's no need to have anxiety taking a train here at night. There's really nothing around the station except a little deli where you can grab a quick sandwich or drink before you depart.

To get to the Westbound side there are two options the overhead walkway (entrance located mid platform) or across the tracks at the entrance of the parking lot area. If you're running late it is highly likely you will miss your train unless you're already on the platform and can run up the stairs and down quickly. Be sure to leave enough time to buy tickets if you do not have any as the machines are located by the entrance of the parking lot which is on the East bound side.. there is one machine also located across on the west bound side. Parking lot has a fee for the weekdays but weekends it is free.

Pretty straightforward. Looks like all gates are digital. Scan and code and enter. There are indoor waiting areas at the platforms which is very practical during cold weather.

In the spirit of fairness, the long-awaited has few rivals in ambition. Like the Barclays station, it uses a complex transit engineering paradigm that I call "diagonals." Compared to that Brooklyn hotspot, its existence battles against more car addicts who have elected transit-hating governors of both parties. Certainly it simplifies Metuchen to Montvale commutes. There are nice touches like a site-specific art, but also intentional steps to make it less convenient. The bizarre gate system requires you to swipe your ticket through intermittently working scanners, increasing the likelihood of missing a train. On one occasion, when NJT mishaps would have left me waiting at Broad St. for maybe two hours, I was refused entry at Secaucus, the worker treating me as if I was trying to get into the Limelight in the 80s while wearing a Kohl's shirt. Do I rate this station on being less depressing than Newark Penn although with worse retail options? Do I applaud it for being better than nothing? Two stars for now, maybe I'll revise if the governor shows more interest in transit than in tweeting about whether it's called pork roll or Taylor ham.

This train stop is definitely one of the cleaner ones. Not a lot of people so it's less hustle than…read moremost stations. They have a heat room on each of the tracks as well as in the main station. It's also attached to a cafe so in the morning you can get a bite to eat and still make the train. There's a ticket matching on the platform but only in the grand central side. If you're going up north you'd have to go upstairs for a ticket.

During the week there is a tiny shop open in the waiting room where you can get the newspapers, chips, candy. There are bathrooms as well. You can get the N15 or N16 busses at this station as well. After the new "route swap," that means either M or F depending on when you're traveling. It also neither provides ADA compliant accessibility, nor is in any immediate plan for MTA to make that upgrade. That being said, the ADA compliant 57th St. Broadway Line Station service by N,Q,R,W trains is only 1 block away, if that helps. Outside fare control, this station's modern, long Mezzanine has amazing public art that I particular find beautiful and uplifting. In 2019, the MTA installed the +90-year old, native New Yorker, multimedia figurative artist Alex Katz's large painted glass panels entitled "Metropolitan Faces." These simplified, bold portraits and floral sections are more than welcoming. Against uncluttered, flat backgrounds, facial expressions and often a fresh, interspersed orange/mango/yellow palette allow all Katz's subjects to pop and bring warmth easy to connect with. Wow! This Prince St. Subway Station in SoHo at Broadway is serviced by BMT Broadway Line trains (i.e.,…read morethose marked yellow between Brooklyn and Queens or Uptown) when they're running local in Midtown Manhattan. [That service, subject to change for multiple reasons, presently includes: R at all times except night, W on weekdays, N weekends and nights, as well as Q at night.] Spanning both platforms, Brooklyn artist Janet Zweig and figurative artist Edward del Rosario's collaboration 2003 "Carrying On" tile, steel, and slate mosaic depicts 194 silhouetted New York figures along with the many assorted things they carried on the street above. The artists utilized photographs of actual anonymous individuals in motion around the city to create the figures. Each figures unique fine details tell a different story, easy to overlook if you rush through the station. Begun just before 9/11 and finished a couple years afterwards, the title also gives a nod to New Yorkers continuing afterwards plus their outgoing personalities and lively nature. Given this always busy Prince Street station provides close subway access to the SoHo shopping district, it could benefit from MTA installing elevators! People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station! I have seen a rat or two back in the day. They have cleaned it up since then. The neighborhood is a shoppers paradise. There's so much to see. You have plenty of food options when you exit the subway also. There are cheap eats if you look in the right places. You won't get confused or lost here. Pretty straight forward Subway Station. There's old tiles from days gone by and new decor too. I'm definitely going back soon. I need to see if some of my favorite delis and restaurants are still open. Check it out.....
