"These twelve mosaics, collectively known as "The Greenwich Village Murals," show some of the interesting and diverse history of the Greenwich Village neighborhood surrounding this station. They were created by ceramic artist Leo Grozwol in collaboration with fifth and six grade students from a local school (Public School 41)." "The murals are divided into four sets of three murals each, with the following subtitles: Bohemians, Founders, Providers, and Rebels. There is a key for each set of murals on the wall nearby, helping visitors to identify each person featured in the murals." Wow, learn something new every day. This station is always busy, serviced by the 7th Avenue Local Line 1 train and also 2 when it runs local at night, however unfortunately MTA has no immediate plans to make it accessible with ADA compliant upgrades. That being said, in 1994 MTA installed tile mosaic murals designed by P.S. 41 students guided by artist and Lower East Side social worker Lee Brozgol - a work that captures the rich historic figures that shaped not only the West Village, but many whose influence extended throughout the U.S. and globally. I'm not sure why we decided "lunch in the Village" was such a great idea but here we are. The station is quite clean (at least the level where we were) and signage was decent. A little loud, perhaps. But clean and well lit for 2pm on a weekday. The station is handicapped accessible, which is nice. There are two levels with tracks (A/C/E on the B2 level, B/D/F/M on the lower B4 level) and two mezzanine levels, one for the fare control and the other is for connecting between platform levels. It takes you to 'Greek Town' where a coalesced area of Greeks reside and straphangers can find bars with live music, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and coffee shops. This elevated station has two side platforms and three tracks. This subway station has been updated modernized and contains simple architecture keeping with function and operational rather than beauty and ornate. My style is traditional, but I do believe individuals and society must adapt with changing times for updated modernization - at least keep it classic and simple which this subway station maintain. The entrance/exit kiosk is modern, but a classic and very simple appeal glass-and-steel canopies with no lavish modern awnings. The artwork for the station, titled "Perasma I and II; Dappleganger," by Stephen Westfall installed in 2018 consists of 47 laminated glass mural panels in the mezzanine, each with geometric designs. It allows color and natural sunlight to be emitted.

This station feels like a suburban LIRR station but a with a bit more of a city scene view. I…read morearrived here about 5:25am via the Q10. Shout out to that bus line for running 24/7. It took me a good 5 minutes to find the station. I found the southbound platform somewhat easily but the northbound took a few extra minutes. At that point, I was using instinct to find it and finally I saw a small stair way with door entrances and the elusive sign saying this way to LIRR. The northbound platform is also where you will find your ticket machines. I saw no staff on site but admittedly I did not venture further inward as I had a train to catch. It was pleasant to board here, a lot less crowded then Jamaica Station at this time of morning and now that I know where everything is, I will use this route again.

Continuously undergoing renovations with upgrading the station with elevators for the physically challenged the stairhall is narrow and utterly crowded creating pedestrian congestion. There is no waiting area upon swiping your MetroCard for entrance. Like all Queens stations on the A train (including the Rockaways), this station is elevated. Nota Bene: Upon discharge from the stairhall and onto street level, straphangers beware of sketchy livery cab drivers vigorously soliciting by loitering at the foot of the station staircase as many willfully block the method of egress and street screaming "cab?!" At this station straphangers can connect with Q10 bus for a journey to JFK Airport.

This subway station is located adjacent to Frederick Douglass Circle, a traffic circle located at the northwest corner of Central Park at the intersection of Eighth Avenue (Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Central Park West) and 110th Street (Cathedral Parkway and Central Park North) a gateway to Harlem. This station is located at West 110th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard at the northwest corner of Central Park. The station is mosaic name tablet is in midnight blue background surrounded in black border. This midnight blue mosaic color is vibrant. There is no mezzanine above the tracks which allow a free transfer between directions, northbound/southbound. For transfers to either northbound/southbound direction straphangers would have to exit the system to street level and walk to stairwell re-entry for access with OMNY card. I always find mezzanine or passageway transfers beneficial without loosing my paid fare and without exiting to the street in the winter months. There is a customer service booth. The subway entrance/exit kiosk is modern and very simple design, but serves as function and operate rather than beauty and ornate. Artwork "Migrations" by Christopher Wynter contains three different areas of mosaic panel installation, two on each platform and one on the full-time mezzanine. It appears very muted colors. This 110th St-Cathedral Parkway subway station where Central Park West turns into Frederick…read moreDouglass Boulevard, serviced in the daytime by B & C trains and A at night, has interesting mosaic murals entitled "Migration" by Chris Wynter, a local artist who also teaches at Pratt. You'll notice the 2018 recent bright renovations, including digital signage, and ability to cross between Uptown and Downtown lines make the station pleasant to use, if you don't mind the stairs. Nevertheless, the MTA SHAMEFULLY DID NOT INSTALL ANY ELEVATORS when they invested in the 2018 renovation - OUTRAGEOUS, considering that this station abuts the Northwest corner of Central Park, at the North Woods section! (Also, Morningside Park starts one block away!) People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station!!! Hard to believe, given the station is at a traffic circle, that there wasn't some location for MTA to accommodate the required elevators to make subway travel to this part of Central Park or Morningside Park easy for everyone!
