Tiger C Construction and Waterproofing company, a friendly father-son business with additional…read moreemployees, was absolutely fantastic for us. After a water main leak, our drain tile failed and our finished basement was ruined. Our house was sitting on inches of water under the foundation slab, which had no way to drain because of our dense clay dirt. On the outside, Tiger C excavated all the way down to the slab, put in a new drain tile, water-proofed the walls, re-worked our guttering, and buried it all back. This was all done without permanently removing our porch, deck, or HVAC. On the inside, they cut a trench in the concrete basement slab and installed a six inch drain line from the center of the house to the exterior. Once opened, hundreds of gallons of water gushed out for several hours. Tiger C was very hard-working, friendly, and courteous. They were conscientious of our property and our needs. Further, they warranted their work, giving us the confidence to rebuild the interior. I could not give Tiger C a stronger recommendation.

We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

On 8-7, I called the office and got an apologetic female who said someone would call. No response. On 8-11, I sent an email to the office manager April who set up work and sent me the bill. No response. On 8-13, I called the office again. April acknowledged receiving my email and forwarding it to service manager Jacob (without acknowledging or responding to my email). She said she was sending it to him again. As of today (8-21) guess who hasn't contacted me? Yep, the service manager or anybody else. Feels like this company got their money and doesn't care about customer service. I should have gone with another company. Don't make the same mistake.

(See before & after pictures) We received three separate quotes and the big thing I learned is that it's extremely important to use lime mortar when repairing an old roof/mortar. If you use something different it can cause water drainage issues and other concerns. I was only able to find two people in Richmond who use lime mortar- Mike and one other company. Both quotes were fairly comparable but I decided to go with Mike based on his many years of experience. I'm extremely thankful I found him and wouldn't hesitate highly recommending him and his team. They also cleaned off the roof of debris that had fallen on it from nearby trees and pointed out some other areas of concern that we may want to address.

I had experienced a lot of soil erosion in my front yard, and as a result there were large voids…read moreunder my stoop, steps, and sidewalk. I was afraid that the stoop and steps would cave in or move without support underneath, so I wanted the voids to be filled in. I obtained a price quote from Concrete Jack, which has an office in Richmond but does work in Northern Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, DC, and West Virginia. The price quote was reasonable, so I scheduled an appointment for them to do the work. I never saw them in person because they did the work when I was at my job during the day, but when I got home, I was pleased to see that the ground under my stoop and steps was now filled in with foam that provided support and kept animals and water out. If I had known about this service earlier, I would have advised my neighbors to use them rather than to entirely replace their shifting stoop, steps, and sidewalk with concrete for much more money. In addition, to foam jacking for sidewalks and driveways, this business also does foundation repair for homeowners and a variety of commercial repairs. He left the job a mess. It looks terrible. I have asked Brett Pace to look at the job twice and he refuses to come and see the work. This man may have a contractors license but does not stand behind his work and is not professional. Do not trust this man to do work for you. Run the other way. Now I have to hire someone to do the job correctly.
