I've been a big fan of Mud Bay as a company ever since I got my first kitty many moons ago while living in Seattle. I had no idea what sort of food she liked, and the kind folks at the Mud Bay on Capitol Hill hooked me up. When kitty was found to be food-insecure, gained weight, and needed to be put on a diet, they hooked me up. Now that kitty is of a certain age and picker than ever, the kind folks at the Lake Oswego Mud Bay continue hooking us up. I appreciate that the company carries a great variety of products that are formulated with high-quality ingredients for your furbaby's optimal health and wellness. They have a great selection, and their flexible policies take into consideration some pets' picky tastes. The company freely gives out samples so you can find the right food for your creature, and will easily take back the options deemed unpalatable. The employees are always friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Last time kitty went on a hunger strike, the employee I asked for help walked me through the different options available to us, as well as treats and supplements. With the current, um, situation ongoing, the store practices physical distancing, offers pickup, and makes hand sanitizer and hand-washing stations available to keep everyone safe. When my wife worked at the New Season next door this was our go to pet shop. At the time our Golden Retriever was going through a lot of food allergy issues. They helped us try to find a food that worked but when the dry food didn't worked they helped us do a 50% raw and 50% dry food diet. First we price checked them with several other stores and their pricing was the best. Second I ordered enough for a month so I didn't have to keep coming back. Overall we figured out his allergies and they are under control. The staff here are awesome. They are very friendly and they are always ready for a challenge. The store is clean and I think very well organized. read more

I'm a new customer, but already a regular. We had just adopted a kitty and were curious about different options for cat food, so I called up the store and asked if they had any samples. They said to just show up and they'd hook me up, and boy did they. I called about an hour before walking in the door, and they put together a nice kit for me that included 6-7 food samples, coupons, and cat treats! I felt like I should buy something to say thank you, so I bought a collar and a tag for when we take her out of the house. I've gone back several times as I realize I need to a certain item and every time I go in the staff is super friendly and helpful. I won't be buying pet supplies anywhere else! read more

I have to say that this is honestly one of my favorite stores, and not just in terms of pet food & supplies. It's easily the friendliest, fairly priced, convenient, and highly knowledgable stores I've shopped at, period. They have a wide variety of everything you could want for your dog (I say this since I only buy items for my dogs, although they do carry products for other pets as well). I first starting shopping at Mudbay when they opened their Lake Oswego store branch, which has plenty of free parking in the large lot they share with other stores in the small shopping plaza (in addition to being right down the street from where I live). By the high end brands Mudbay carries and the small boutique feel of the store, I expected everything to be overpriced and similar to what you could find at other retailers. I couldn't have been more wrong. First off, the staff is extremely friendly and highly knowledgable about their products and about pets in general. You're always greeted warmly when you first walk in the doors, and continue to receive helpful and friendly service during your visit. If they don't have the answer right away offhand, they find out and get back to you quickly. Not only do they have great knowledge about the products they carry, but about animal behavior in general. I've had questions answered more thoroughly by Mudbay employees than I have had at my vet's office. The products they carry are high quality, and quite reasonably priced. While they don't offer "rewards/loyalty" programs, the prices aren't marked up, and with the customer service you receive, you're bound to become a happy, loyal customer. read more

It was interesting to find today that our canned dog food was less expensive here than a 'big box retail' pet store. Apparently this is a NW family owned business. Great store! A good selection of food, grooming supplies and toys. Very clean and well-lit. The staff always seems very professional and friendly, and willing to help if you have any questions. This is one of the few places in the area that I can get Taste of the Wild food for my cat or my friend's dog. They also sell a variety of dog waste bags here for the most cost-effective prices I've ever seen. There are also options for more environmentally friendly bags, including compostable ones. This place is about a 4 minute drive from my home, so I'll definitely continue to be a customer. read more

I used to go to Pet Loft on Macadam (closed to my work). Nothing wrong with Pet Loft, just this Mud Bay is bigger and have more healthy snack choices for our pets. The space is big enough to allow your dog walking on the leash without bumping to other customers. Very....very friendly staffs. read more

Amazing customer service from Brandon! He helped me at the cash register and gave me free samples in case my cat doesn't like the food I got her. He explained the return policy to me and let me know they donate all opened food returns. Definitely will be returning. read more

This store is absolutely amazing! We bring our standard poodle to pick out her own treats and to restock on her food. The employees are always so pleasant and you can tell they love animals which makes visiting the store a treat in itself! We love Mud Bay for our puppy dog! read more

This store is THE best. I like this store so much I actually went in last week just to walk around because I was feeling depressed and I knew it would cheer me up! And I don't even like shopping, at all, for anything, so that says a lot. I have four dogs and a cat so I'm always in this store for something and every single time I am happy with what I purchase. They have a much more healthy, holistic approach to pet care and that aligns with my way of caring for my pets. The staff are SO helpful and never push you to buy to the point where it's annoying. And they are friendly. Go figure, in a world of robots, this is a store full of real people who know actual things about their products, and are friendly. Good job Mud Bay. We are glad they started stores in PDX. We have been to Seattle store and have been a fan. They have much better pets food choice than those big national chain stores. Foods for our pets is really important for their health and welfare. I cannot wait they have a new location in the same mall as new WholeFoods store on Scholls Ferry Road in Beaverton/Tigard. One thing is they sell shaved Bonito for dog/cat treat. Someone in WA repack Japanese fish stock Katsuobushi and sell in their store. It is human consumption grade and we give it to out pets, too. My friends and I stopped in on a whim after a quick google search of near by pet stores. WOW, what luck! This place is the BEST pet store I've ever been in. The customer service and friendliness of the staff is by far the best I have ever received. They all were very welcoming and very appreciative that we stopped in on Black Friday instead of going to a big box store. I was surprised to find that they had my dog's favorite dental chews for $4 bucks less than PetCo. The store was also very organized and items were displayed well. I was even able to find door bells for potty training my dog. I have never seen them anywhere before and was pretty excited to finally find some. If you haven't been here before you will not be disappointed. It may be out of the way since I'm not from the area but I will be going back just for their awesome customer service and fair prices. read more

I straddle between Mud Bay and Healthy Pet, depending on where I am driving at the moment. Mudy Bay has everytjing I love to get for my dogters. My favorite item is their bulk lamb lung. I have a fussy poodke and she only eats when I sprinkle that on her food. I buy them out !!! And of course they carry healthy non commercial food...even ice cream!! read more
