You can get a small and they will give you what would be a large. During my visit to Frankfort I visited Frankfort Dairy Maid two days in a row. It was unbelievably delicious. The ice tasted like it was homemade unlike what I was used to from my local ice cream shop. I was surprised by the amount of toppings they give you. Be prepared to wait in a long line because this is the place to be. Luckily the line moves really quickly so you have enough time to review the menu and be ready to order when you get to the front. The staff at Frankfort Dairy Maid are impressive. I observed them handle large groups like a pro and not skip a beat. They have a system that makes the ordering and receiving of your ice cream smooth. I wish they had other locations within the US because this would be my top ice cream shop. I highly recommend visiting even if you're driving through Frankfort because it's worth the drive.

They had chocolate, vanilla, twist, Dole Whip, the lemon custard, (a raspberry that wasn't ice cream) and this week's special, blueberry. End of July in northwestern Michigan -- I had to get the blueberry. I ordered a small @$3 and got an abundance of ice cream. Happy customer!

We had Cherries Moobilee. It had plenty of cherries, chunks of brownie, with a chocolate swirl. We had a small, but it was very generous. There were a variety of favors. I wish I had room for more. There were a few tables indoors and outdoor seating at picnic tables on a deck overlooking the farm. The service was quick, and workers were helpful. You may have to seek it out, but it is worth the effort. I would definitely recommend Moomers.

Good because the ice cream was fantastic but bad because we went every single day and I've never eaten so much ice cream in such a short period of time . Moomers is a local homemade ice cream spot next to their dairy farm a little off the beaten path. Their website lists all of their flavors (and there are many) but when you arrive there's a daily menu of what is available. Every flavor I tried was delicious and chock full of the goodies they add in. They highlight their Cherries Moobilee which is a black cherry ice cream with chocolate swirl a black cherries. They also have some sorbet options if you're non dairy and some unique sundaes on their menu as well. When you enter the store you immediately smell the homemade waffle cones and you're likely to see a line, maybe even out the door. But their service is friendly and efficient and they do a great job of moving people through fast! There's a few booths indoors to sit at but the patio is a real gem on a summer day with plenty of picnic tables and a view of the farm next door. Definitely stop in and give them a try! It was a highlight of our vacation!

Fantastic sandwich and pizza option if you're headed to or from Sleeping Bear Dunes!…read more We came across Shipwreck Cafe after stopping for gas next door on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We wanted a kid friendly option and came in for the pizza, but ended up being blown away by the massive sandwich menu! Don't be discouraged by the line - it moves FAST!!!! The young people at the register and in the kitchen are efficient and so nice!!! We arrived about half an hour before the sign says pizzas are ready, and the lovely man at the register said "sure!" when we asked if we could order a pizza. The menu has something for everyone - Including plenty of vegetarian options (I think they even had a vegan option). I loved my Griffon, and the meat eaters in our group enjoyed the SS Noronic (a BLT) and the Fitzgerald. Our kids devoured their cheese pizza! They also carry Great Lakes Co Chips, which are some of the best potato chips we've ever had. Our sandwiches were all so inventive with delicious, fresh ingredients, amazing condiments, and the most freshly baked "pretzel rolls" ever. If this place wasn't a vacation stop for us, we'd be back all the time! Our kiddos favorite part, bedsides the pizza, were the tiny plastic swords that came in our sandwiches holding them together. When they each wanted one more sword, we went back inside and the staff inside was so used to kids asking for more tiny swords that their response to "May we have two more swords?" Was "Sure! What colors?!" Very different from what the response would have been where we're from. :) We even came back later in the day for the frozen custard!!! All in all, it was a great experience with great food, great service, plenty of outdoor picnic tables under umbrellas, and something for everyone to eat.
