Mugsy's is a great place for a great haircut. Gabriel, is my favourite because he is very detailed and gets it right every time i go. When I do go, I don't even have to tell him what I want, he just gets right to it. The massage at the end makes it all with while. Went to Mugsy's today based on their great website, photos, and reviews. I walked in, no appointment, and was asked to sit immediately. It was unfortunately, all downhill from there. I am the son of an immigrant myself so please understand that I can appreciate someone just learning the English language. However, you cannot use the language barrier as an excuse for asking how you would like your haircut and then doing whatever you want and "butchering" the customer's hair. Mugsy's advertises they know how to cut hair, including fades, etc. The female barber asked my "how I want hair" and I responded that I would like a 3/4 fade and added that I only wanted a little off the top. The barber took out her clippers and cut my hair down to a #1 all over except the very front of the top of my head!! She then proceeded, without asking, to add some type of hair sculpting lotion to what little hair I had left. She clearly knew she gave me a terrible haircut since she took the barber bib off me and said, "you ask short". Are you for real? I paid her $28, (she asked for cash), and I hurried home to wash my hair and survey the "damage". When my wife got home from work she was completely flabbergasted! She grabbed our dog clippers and clipped off the clump of hair remaining on the top of my head! This is without question, the absolute worst haircut I have ever had, and I am not a young man. Please save yourself the agony and embarrassment... do not Ever take a chance on this place!! read more

Hands down, THE BEST barbershop in the valley. I moved here 7 months ago and tried several barbers before finding this gem. My very first experience at Mugsy's blew my mind. Very professional barbers and the owners, Julia and Gabriel, give amazing cuts. For $19, I got a great fade, even with straight razor and hot shaving cream, hot head towel wrap, and a massage. Julia was my barber, and I have stuck with her ever since. She was very patient in getting to know me, my style, and my preferences. Communication is very important, if not THE MOST important aspect of getting a great haircut. The communication goes both ways, between the one providing the haircut and the customer and with Julia, she makes it easy. Overall, great place, clean environment, never a long wait, plenty of TVs and entertainment to keep you engaged, and of course great conversation while you get your ears lowered! Worst straight razor shave EVER! I came in for a straight razor shave the morning of my brother's wedding. I have had a few of these before, but this was the first time that my neck was shaved down with an electric razor first and then a straight razor shave followed. There was pretty immediate evidence of minor razor burn and minor cuts on myself and another groomsman, noticed by my wife when we arrived to the wedding venue. The next day, the razor burn was the worst that I have ever had in my life. Five days later, my neck is still completely broken out, it's painful, itchy beyond belief, red and swollen. I am now using a medicated ointment to try and alleviate the problem. Their haircuts might be a good bargain but look elsewhere for a shave. read more

I got the worst hair cut of my life at this place. No joke! I went here because the salon I normally go to wasn't open. The place was right next door, so I thought to myself "well, what's the worst that can happen? How bad can a haircut really get?" The answer to that question become eye-openingly apparent after I left. As I looked over my hair in my car's mirror, I noticed that they gave me a bowl cut. I looked like Moe in the Three Stooges, perhaps even worse. There was nothing redeeming about it. I had two back-to-back business meetings right after and here I looked like a little twelve year old twerp. The situation bordered on absurdity. The lady was snickering to herself as she gave me my haircut, so she was probably aware of how horrible it was and enjoying the moment sadistically. When I went back to ask for a refund, she had the audacity to blame me for the haircut. Apparently I hadn't specified that I didn't want a bowl cut. I guess you have to bring a list of all of the styles of haircuts you don't want. Maybe the place is good for five year old kids, but if you are an adult steer clear. Friendly service, great prices and convenient location. Anthony is awesome. We recently moved into Tatum Ranch and I was happy to see that I had a few local barbershops close by. I decided to try Mugsy's after reading the Yelp reviews from a few places and I'm glad I did. I went in just after they opened on a Wednesday morning and was able to walk right it and get a spot in Anthony's chair. Anthony welcomed me as a new customer and we talked about how much we both love Arizona and he gave me a haircut and beard trim. My son has school pictures coming up. So, we looked at reviews, and this one had a 4.5. My son has been growing his hair out and just wanted it cleaned up. I can't describe just how bad this haircut is. This haircut can't even be fixed unless we buzz it off! It's a mix of just strange straight cuts.
