Well, I asked around the Internets and Barber Shop @ Carefree came up over and over again, with the mysterious and legendary Nathan and his expert team of hair length reduction professionals. Stopped in today and it was really everything I'd missed all those times at the commercial hair cut place. Anthony had me in the chair in no time, asked me what I wanted, and - miracle of miracles - actually listened to me. We talked through what I needed, and he started trimming away at my mane like an expert cutting a topiary shrub. In just a little while, my hair was back to normal, and Nathan stopped by to check and make sure everything was good. A nip and a snip later, I was ready to roll with no fear of nesting owls, and a haircut that my wife may actually like for a change. Nathan and Anthony really have a good thing going. Thanks guys! Vibe is very old-school barber shop with classic chairs, mirrors, etc. Besides Sam I believe all other staff are women from Russian/East Europe(?). I show up 5 minutes early because that's the kind of guy I am, and I walk in to a full house of people that were chatting it up. The barber says, "are you Eric?", I say "yup" and she motions to the chair. She asks what I'm looking for and I give her some general idea. About 5 minutes into the cut a woman strolls in, sits down and starts rolling with stories about what's going on with her life. The barber quietly says "it's like Mayberry here" and sure as shit it is. I don't go to Cave Creek all that much because it's the kind of place you'll end up drinking too much and getting into too much trouble, but I am going to spend more time there because I like supporting small business, and the people are "real", and nice.
