The real problem though is the rude, uncaring desk staff. When my pharmacist complained that they didn't send a refill request they refused to deal with them- so for two years I had to go monthly to a pharmacy 1/2 hour out of my way. When I complained the desk person cancelled my dogs appointment without telling me and said they would not allow us there anymore. Others posted that this happened to them also. Something fishy going on, and VERY unprofessional! They didn't care that my dog would be out of meds, lied and said they had no appointments (they did) and that they couldn't give a refill (they did). Many online complaints and pet owners having to go elsewhere because they're so difficult. Not worth the trouble!

I also was told ahead that their isn't a lot of workers so it was told me in advanced. I understood to mean not a lot of overhead that is why costs are cheaper here. As for me , it makes all the difference for me having my puppy's as my life line to be comfortable with a new Vet clinic and dr. my dogs weren't anxious at all at the initial visit. that tells me a lot! was told he needed a dental what that meant to me was teeth needed to be pulled not specified the details only that labs would be done and then i'd be contacted and to proceed from there... i had to call them was told was infection and yes teeth and ok for surgery . nothing abt a cleaning at that point but apparently that was a issue with insurance little issues with payment later on. Once I found out my ins wasn't going to pay needed records from elsewhere , I provided ins co and vet clinic... with records i was then sent a email stating how much ins co was to pay! we proceeded with scheduling surgery for my pups dental! after surgery we submitted claim to ins for the thousand dollars to pay clinic directly and they denied! I then had to dispute and for that they needed detailed surgery notes from vet clinic. with the help of staff and dr we got them the notes etc... at that point ins as only willing to pay 400$ total disappointment End result was we paid our deductible to clinic after ins was able to pay the remainder of what ins refused and the dr gave a discount . What matters most is my puppy is home with me and recovering . I suffer with anxiety and my dogs r elder years now only stress caused was that my insurance wasn't being cooperative after having puppy insurance since they were born. i carry two insurance policy's for them and either wanted to pay a dime! Thanks to Ashley dr jeff and andrew working with one insurance for details of surgery i at least for ins to pay a tiny amount.... in reality i have proof they sent me a hard copy stating they were paying $1,000 and did not! after we paid our deductible ... this clinic in my opinion handled it the best they could and offered me a discount thank goodness. I'm incredibly grateful for the communication i received for them helping me in this case it was giving me a clearer picture of what not to buy pet insurance for going forward having elder puppy's .... we purchase as emergency's as babies and expect they will cover as they age not realizing there is stipulations for elder dogs i'm better off saving a savings for my dogs from the start. lesson learned. thanks again to the staff at pet maintenance for the extra help with my pet insurance it was appreciated ! I should not have had to go thru what i went thru with insurance companies for them to both deny me having records and all! i recommended his facility just make sure to have good communication always not just with this business but in life! that's the only way any thing will ever get done and fairly. kindest regards and thanks to dr and staff . He passed of late stage heart failure not 2 months later. Also, when we received his medical records for insurance purposes, they were sparse and obviously not accurate or thorough. They refused to give them to me though, our insurance had to get them. California law requires vets to give owners a summary of medical records that includes history, treatment, and medications. None were included (Under 16 CCR § 2032.3).

She was not eating or drinking, was losing weight and was being hand-fed with Critical Care for many weeks. My regular exotics vet referred us to Dr. Sell to see if she could locate an issue that didn't show up in a regular exam or in X-rays. Initially, Dr. Sell performed a very thorough and gentle exam on Rocket. She located an area of concern in Rocket's jaw, determining that the problem was likely TMJ. Rocket went through 5 sessions with Dr. Sell which were successful in lowering Rocket's pain level. Eventually, Rocket went back to her regular food, started gaining weight and stopped the Critical Care. I'm grateful that Dr. Sell was referred to us and that Rocket was able to return to a normal life. Dr Sell was easy to deal with, she is a good listener, she asked a lot of questions, she was kind and gentle when handling Rocket and she cared deeply for Rocket during our visits. Dr. Sell's years of experience and her level of knowledge are evident and I was very confident in her abilities when she was dealing with Rocket.

A few months ago, we hired OffLeash K9 through their "Board and Train" program, for our Cane Corso…read morepuppy. At that time, he was around 7 months old. At the time I signed the training services agreement, there was zero mention of the use of an electronic training collar as part of the program. Additionally, it is not clearly described or disclosed on the OffLeash K9 website that they utilize these collars as a part of the training-- they use vague language to refer to their practices, including the use of "safe and effective methods", but no concrete examples or definitions. I did not discover that they were planning to use an electronic (shock) collar until well after I paid the $2790 for the training program, I should add. Learning this information gave me pause, and I considered cancelling the training, as I had learned through my own professional experience that positive reinforcement training is more effective to achieve results for dogs than punishment-based training. Nonetheless, I was told and encouraged by the trainer (Izzy) that this method was safe, and would not cause injury. Upon return to me after the 2 weeks, my puppy had injuries around his neck which the trainer referred to as "hot spots". The trainer informed me that it was simply due to "irritation" from the collar. The trainer stated at the time of return that our dog was "stubborn", and "slow to learn". Being a Registered Veterinary Technician, I took him home, and I shaved and cleaned the wounds around his neck, in order to better visualize the area. It was immediately clear that he had painful, necrotic pressure wounds around his neck (see photos). I administered first aid, and consulted a veterinarian colleague for further instruction. I am relieved to report that his injuries healed without the need for more invasive treatment--however, those pressure wounds are not a "normal" result of the use of electronic collars. That occurs when the collar is left in place for too long, and is fitted too tightly. This was a direct result of the misuse of the training collar by the trainer. Subsequently, our dog was fearful of the collar, and, understandably, would refuse to allow us to place it on him. He demonstrated very little obedience as a result of his training, despite our attempts to follow up with his training as directed, and he appeared more anxious than he was prior to the program. Both personally and professionally, I was left disappointed and concerned by this program, and certainly would not recommend it to any of my friends or associates. I question its validity, if management is using and supporting dubious communications, and condoning harmful practices. I have extensive connections in the veterinary medical community of the Central Coast and Bay Area, after an almost 20-year career as a senior veterinary nurse, and I have been vehemently opposing and advocating against this he use of OffLeash K9. I have dissuaded clients from acquiring their services. Furthermore, I strongly suggest that trainer Izzy of Salinas be investigated for misconduct, and potentially animal neglect. My intention in sharing this feedback is to make the community of pet owners, whom I love and humbly serve, aware of the adverse effects of this training program.
