Came here a few times, and it seems like a basic neighborhood bar. It's convenient for those going up Western in Rogers Park. Mullen's has lots of good beer and liquor, and some okay food too. For sure service can be slow, even when it's not busy here. There's lots of TVs, making it a good place for watching games or whatever. Basically it's a neighborhood bar. It doesn't look like anything that special, just a place to hang out and watch games. The beer selection is pretty good though. It often has a draft on special for $3 or about. There's a nice choice of local craft beers too. As for the food, it's not all bad. Of course there's the typical bar stuff like greasy fries and wings. Also healthier options like the Hummus Dip. It's $11 for a big portion of hummus with pitas and vegetables. Also there's burgers. They have an Impossible Burger for plant based eating. Good neighborhood bar & grill. We were in this neighborhood looking at new places to live and decided to stop in to Mullen's..... which seems to be the best choice in this vicinity. It looks like a total dive bar, but felt very comfortable inside. It's the kind of place that seemed like everyone sort of knew each other. The menu said they have "Award Winning" wings.....unfortunately I didn't get to try them. We ordered The Irish Burger and a Reuben....both were very good. I'd like to go back again and try the wings. The food and service were both good, but I have 1 main issue which is probably the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. I ordered my burger medium and it was really more medium well or well done. I usually let that slide because I'd rather it be overcooked than under. What bothered me was that wasn't the only issue. We ordered sweet potato tater tots and got regular instead. I mentioned it to our server and he put in the order again for the sweet potato ones. They came out when we were already finishing up, so we didn't eat them.....but we still got charged for them. My recommendation is if you mess up the order then comp it....dont bring it out last minute and still charge us for it. It wasn't crowded and it was just 2 of us ordering 2 meals....so if there's 2 mistakes I have to ask that they review their process. For a neighborhood bar, this place is great. They play UFC fights, which brings my boyfriend and I here on a monthly basis. The place is fairly large, but if there's a fight on, you'll need to get there around 9-9:30 to ensure a seat. They also have a pool table and a bunch of dart boards if that's your thing- pretty sure they have a league too. As for food and drinks, I've never had something I didn't like. The domestic drafts are $3 on Saturday nights, which is generally when we come. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a neighborhood bar. read more

Calamari rings are lightly breaded and very crispy... just the way I like them. The Wings are phenomenal. So many flavors to choose from, and they are all great. My favorite two flavors are caribbean jerk and cheesy buffalo. They have a wing special on Wednesdays. I had no idea that the place I gave a lackluster review about in Lisle was related to the (soon to be) lackluster review in Rogers Park, and also a (probably) lackluster place in Wrigleyville. The layout of the place is different from the one in the west 'burbs, there's a huge area for darts-it seems like a dart players heaven as well as a free pool table. Okay, cool, get to the table where my friends are already and felt pretty stupid that I didn't put two and two together and realize that Mullen's-Lisle would probably be related to Mullen's-Rogers park. Anyway, I get there and see that their beer selection was okay, actually not as good as the one in the burbs, but decent enough. Our waitress was pretty...well she was just pretty bad, slow service, when she came to check up on us we barely had enough time to say we're fine before she moved on. As far as the place goes, I think they had a dart league or something. I believe it was the annoying drunk league because every once in a while there would be a loud scream from hitting the mark and then just a loud chest bump from two dudes who probably just had their physical activity for the week. 1 am and just nothing but loud annoying guys throwing sharp objects near me, with an okay beer selection and pretty bad service? The wings are delicious as they have a variety like teriyaki, spicy buffalo, bbq, cheesy garlic, Caribbean among many others. I personally enjoy the pulled pork slides as the bbq is the perfect amount of sweetness and they add Merktz cheese on top, what a treat! You must also try the mac and cheese which comes in spiral noodles with the creamiest cheese sauce. I could eat a bucket of this stuff. My cousins are regulars at this place and they always seem to have a good time. Every Friday night, we all meet up here to play darts. It felt like a place for regular locals, but just recently they've added kareoke on Fridays. Kareoke seems to have increased their number of customers. First visit and, as it's apmost 130 am, it's officially Thanksgiving. At 1am, after their last call, they still made us wings. To your average patron, this might seem standard. Being in the service industry, I can tell you it's a pain in the ass. (I was ok with the kitchen being closed, one of my fellow patrons, also in the service industry, made the request.) The request was not only honored, but honored with Grace and tact. I grew up in the area by Mullen's but I used to go with friends to watch games etc. But now I'm enjoying their food. I had ordered their Angus mini bacon cheeseburger and served on King's Hawaiian roll. and Turkey BLT Sandwich, cold-cut turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato, served with mayonnaise on toasted white bread. It was so good , after that I couldn't anything to match it so we kept getting that one. Well their isn't anything I dont recommend from Mullen's Bar & Grill. Ordered takeout here when our usual pub food place was closed. Didn't have the highest expectations tbh, but they were far exceeded! Everything was great, even after half an hour in to go boxes. The chicken caesar salad was very good, despite just being a salad! The sweet potato tots were delish, as were all 4 flavors of wings that we got. The wings were substantial and really well cooked. I had a burger I believe it was the western and it was delicious. I was expecting a typical bar food burger but I was pleasantly surprised. You come here to drink beer, watch sports, and play darts. Myself, just give me wings and Cider and I'm good. So now to the wings, of course everything will be compared to Birds Nest of course. It might not be fair but I'm looking for a spot to transcend that pedestal and surprise me. Mullens did not surprise. They were ok wings of good size. The meat was reasonably tender but the right sauce separates the studs from the duds. Mullens sauce was unspectacular. It just tasted like they shook them up with some bottled hot sauce like Frank's. I even asked if they made their own sauce, she (our waitress) smiled with a resounding "Yes. The creative juices were not flowing when they concocted that recipe. There are billions of places around Chicago with wings like these. I'm looking for those that stand out a little. This bar has become a go to spot for me since it is just a block away from my apartment. Yet to try the food menu but I mainly go here for the pool table and drinks. This place is spacious! It has bar seating and dinner tables both. Fun hangout place for a group and can work for an intimate setting as well since it's not too loud. Drinks are decent, full bar, well priced, but do not expect craft cocktails out of here. They have plenty dart boards and TV's playing sports, one pool table. This place is hit or miss. I've been at least 8 times usually for boxing or ufc fights cause they're always playing them. Sometimes they'll charge a cover, sometimes they have a table minimum. Food is decent, nothing great but okay for bar food. Typical beer is like $6-7 and you'll spend $12 or so on food per person. They have a pool table, darts and lots of TV's plus plenty of seating. read more
