Great goat cheese pizza! It was so good that I had to go back for it a week later and it was just as good!

i live in Rogers Park and have been going to RPublic for decades. I've often recommended it to friends, and always take family visitors there for a meal and a cocktail. Our experience has always been delightful and we love supporting a local establishment, but, this evening i was treated so poorly by one of their bartenders, Im seriously reconsidering my former opinion. My friend and I originally sat on the patio, i took advantage of a great happy hour deal and ordered a flight of margaritas. One of the drinks was a spicy margarita and it had yummy tahini salt on the rim of the glass. Eventually, the bees on the patio drover us inside where we sat at the bar to finish our drinks. The bartender didn't seem too thrilled to have us there, which was odd because, at the time, the place had only 4 other customers sitting inside. The bartender never approached us, or acknowledged us in any way. i finished my drinks and wanted another spicy margarita. Since the bartender obviously didn't want to wait on us, I ordered it from our original server. The restaurant still wasn't busy but it took 15 minutes to get my margarita. when it finally arrived, it had no salt on the rim, but my server scurried away so quickly, i didnt have a chance to ask her about it. It took me another 10 minutes to get the bartender's attention, and when I asked, "Isn't there supposed to be salt on the rim?" She rudely informed me, "No, only if you ask for it'" I told her that nobody had asked me if I wanted salt on the rim earlier, and it just came that way so I assumed they were all prepared the same way, she literally turned her back on me and slammed the container of rim salt onto the bar. When I said, "wow! Whats that about?" She yelled at me and said I didn't know how to make a request and i needed to change my tone. I was a server for many years, so I know how stressful food service can be, but, if I ever spoke to a customer the way I was spoken to this evening, I would have been dismissed on the spot. i am a standard 25% tipper, and I do not expect preferential treatment, nor do I think the 'customer is always right', but, I do assume Ill be treated with common courtesy when I decide to spend my $$ at a restaurant. I will no longer be doing that at RPublic. read more

Came here on a Friday night to check out the local bar food spot in Jarvis Square. It seemed busy with almost all tables and bar full. I was surprised by the space & the designated pizza oven area. Definitely felt like a nicer bar food spot than I thought from the outside. All the food was fine but didn't blow me away. We tried a chicken hot honey pizza and the burger of the week that was bacon, Jamaican dry run, cooked onions, and pepper jack cheese. Then for dessert we had chocolate covered cream puffs. All different kind of food flavors I wasn't expecting for this bar food spot which was fun but again food is not perfected just a wide variety. Also good portions to share between two. I wouldn't say it's a top bar food choice but a great local spot to have near jarvis square. I appreciated the friendly staff and a view into what the community is like in this area. read more

Dear Vegetarians, I was hungry for a veggie burger and fries. In my haste, I misread the web menu as having a mushroom/swiss cheese housemade veggie burger. Upon arrival, I realized any of their beef burgers could be substituted with a Beyond burger (which I accepted in this lost era of *Big Plant-based Burger*). Unfortunately, they UP-charged $6 for Beyond burgers, but I (again mistakenly) assumed this meant for 2 patties, like they emphasize for their meat burgers. In my hunger I accepted this high price. But then on the receipt I saw I was UP-charged $8 for 1 Beyond patty. [A quick search says Whole Foods sells Beyond burgers for $8 for 2 patties. Therefore, surely there is a business option that lowers this price.] Good luck out there and beware of Beyond pricing. ~~~~~ Beyond this Vegetarian price scandal, I enjoyed myself: chill and attentive staff, cute patio, yum fries and dijon aioli! Dear R Public House: Please consider vegetarians and offer a housemade veggie burger, or find a way to cut the cost of store patties. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day, so my pictures have a red tint from the umbrellas and didn't get to show off how good it really was. Our waitress was very sweet and patient with us as we ordered. I got the pierogi bowl of goodness which was delish. It is definitely a heavy dish so consider that, but I enjoyed it. The giant biscuit with honey butter is also a must order. It may not look that crazy, but you just have to taste it! read more

Came here for a Kamala Harris event in the summer, and the vibe was SO cool! Sat at the bar for quite awhile, dishing with the friendly, awesome staff. Didn't have food, but everything we saw around us looked great. Hold that thought, we'll come back for some of that! After we repaired to the outdoor area on Jarvis, it was such a great, warm neighborhood feel. They've closed part of the street off (YAY, bike friendly) and put more booths and such. Stopped in for lunch (they open at noon in the summer) and the R Pub Burger and fries. The food is as good as the first time is was here more 11 years ago. The beer list this week is great. I liked my Lagunitas Beast of Both Worlds enough for a 2nd. We miss the founders and hope they are enjoying a well earned retirement. We came for Sunday brunch. I was worried it would be loud, but I was happy that while there are several TV's on the noise level wasn't bad. We started with mimosa, which are served in large glasses for $7. A total surprise which we loved. We had the omelette of the week, the large biscuit, the potato pancakes and the huevos rancheros. The service was super good and we were amazed the food came out so quickly. The portion sizes are monstrous. OMG. The omelette easily ad 3 maybe 4 eggs. It wa fluffy and folded into it was bratwurst slices and diced peppers and onions with a cheese sauce and crumbled bacon and more bratwurst slices. The potato cakes were wonderful and there were two large cakes. The flavors were wonderful with the giardinere really made it special. Nice and crispy. The huevos was on two tortillas each covered with refried beans, guacamole, nice fried egg and pico di gallo. The biscuit was huge as well. We'll definitely be back. read more

We came here on Saturday August 8, during the pierogi fest at around 4 o'clock or so. The food is good and pretty consistent here. The drinks were also good and we were able to have them in plastic cups and take them to go to walk around Jarvis Square which was nice. I took off two whole stars because of how incredibly rude the hostess was. I didn't catch her name but I believe she either had dreads or braids and she was working during the pierogi fest. We asked for a seat inside and she said hold on and so we stood inside near the front door for a minute, not long at all. And we see her come back in and start walking very quickly into the restaurant. She didn't glance in our direction whatsoever or say anything as in, right this way, or I can show you to your seats. So we didn't follow her. She could've been going to the bathroom for all we know. So a few seconds later she comes over, clearly irritated. "Ma'am" is what she said angrily before showing us to our seats. It was just such a nasty attitude and completely unnecessary. We were very happy when we arrived and we were looking forward to being there so to have someone act like they're doing us a favor by being at work, we really didn't appreciate it. read more

I was there for the first time yesterday (9/6/25) at 6:30pm (check #63). The hostess was rude, unfriendly, and had an angry demeanor. That was good service in comparison to the waitress, who was worse and just awful! She begrudgingly took our order and I felt unwelcome, uncomfortable, and eager to leave. I got fried pickles and a beer and decided to have dinner elsewhere. I tend to tip at least 15% when service is mediocre. This waitress got an undeserving $2 tip and even that was too much. Sometimes it's good, usually it's really bad - I'm not sure we'll be back. 2 stars because they're the only restaurant + bar within a .5 mile radius, but honestly we wouldn't recommend going here unless you have to. We've been there maybe 6 times and I'd say we've received really bad service at least 3 times. They need to work on consistency, because when they're doing well it's an enjoyable place for a cocktail and some food. Service - 1 star: Sometimes it's good, and usually it's horrendous. We've had servers who were actively rude to us (it seemed like they were overworked and serving to many customers). Food 2 stars: Sometimes it's good, and usually it's sub-par. I'm not sure what makes it a good food night or a bad food night. Ambiance 2 stars: This is generally OK, but the rude service has certainly been a drawback. This is my first time coming to this part of Rogers Park in a long time. I was surprised to see the local shops have blocked off Jarvis street and created a really nice outdoor patio. I came here for happy hour cause I needed something quick to eat. I ordered a house red wine and the Happy Hour burger. The burger came out super quick. Cool little neighborhood bar and grill located by the Jarvis station with good drinks and food. It's a place that can get crowded, but has a nice patio. R Public House is one of the places to go as soon as you get off at this CTA station. A lot of common bar food and some not as much. There's a good amount of healthy options. After doing a few things around here, we came in for drinks and also ended up getting food. It's about $12 or more for one of the better cocktails, so prices are the only complaint about here. The most interesting one was the Cinnamon Mule. It sounded good and it was certainly. This was made with Cock N Bull ginger beer, Dashfire cinnamon bitters, and whiskey. It had a bite. The food sounded too good to pass up. Each of us got the vegan friendly option, the Impossible Burger. It's $17, which was the only thing I didn't like. This was a pretty big burger, so it made up for it mostly. For those traveling by the CTA trains, get off at Jarvis. It's just across the street. The parking sucks, making it a good idea using the public transportation. read more

Let me start by saying it is not easy to impress me with burgers. Everyone does them and you really have to be extraordinary to be worth the price of dine in burgers. This place doesn't do anything to impress. Granted I just had the standard burger but there was no lettuce and tomato and nothing to really distinguish this burger from any other. And I don't really *love* burgers. So why did I order it? Because nothing else on the menu seemed worth the price either. The tots were just tots but way too salty. They had a nice setup for valentines day with some specials that seemed a bit better of a deal only I don't drink alcohol and it included wine. Just seems like the kind of place trying to be hip, and maybe they are but I'm never impressed by hip, I'm impressed by quality food or exceptional service which I didn't necessarily find here, unfortunately. Just a heads up about my dinner last night . As a Long time supporter of this GREAT PLACE and neighborhood resident , I ordered the wonderful Lobster Bisque and my favorite Salmon entree . The dish was perfectly prepared except for the sauce . Normally a golden savory delight, last night's sauce was a thick sticky SWEET sauce that was almost like Candy. The Almonds were in a ball on the plate stuck together by the candied sauce. When the patron to my left asked the bartender , what do you recommend ? The steak or salmon ? He recommended the salmon and I had to bite my tongue not to say , No, No, order the steak tonight. The timing was off a little as my dinner arrived about 3 minutes after my soup . They were out of the vegetarian chicken and waffles which was a bummer but a reason to return. Definitely ate too many starters. We came to RPH after seeing a show at the Factory. I was hangry and out of it and even accidentally dropped the menu on the floor at one point and our server Jaye was so friendly even though I'm sure I was super annoying. On top of that the food SLAPPED and was so good! I got an impossible mushroom Swiss burger--I'm not vegetarian but that was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. I also upgraded to kimchi fries and now I'm going to have to try to make them at home because I'm going to be craving them all the time. Outdoor seating on closed-off Jarvis St. was very nice. On Friday Sep. 1 at 8pm, no wait for a table. Our server was nice, knowledgeable, and prompt. Food was OK. Both the steak sauce and the salad dressing were too sweet. I wish that the menu had a larger choice of vegetables. The NY strip steak was cooked rare, as requested; it was a bit tough and lacked flavor - typical of most 21st century American beef. Fries were good. My vegan partner liked their "Impossible" burger with mushrooms and onions. I wish that the menu had a larger choice of NON-craft beers; the single one was Miller Lite, which I do not like. I've never had a craft beer that I liked as well as my favorite, which is factory-brewed Dos Equis, with Stella and Beck's close behind. read more

I would give this a 4.5 stars since consistency in meal size was off. One of the girls ordered spicy chicken biscuit, however they gave her only a few potatoes. When I say a few, I mean like 5. She was really bummed. My meals was fantastic. I got the BLT breakfast. I also got to taste the biscuit since my friend since she was doing low carb. I would go back just for the biscuit.
