    BB Burger!
    Jeff D.

Big Hill is a big hit! I brought my parents here on Friday for dinner and it was a great call! The decor is a mix between modern and old school barn type decor. We sat ourselves and the only negative was no one came to take our order for about 10 minutes until I made some eye contact with the hostess and one of the waitresses. That was the only hiccup. I had one of their Manhattans which was very smooth and a great drink. Beyond that I did their BH Burger which consisted of beef, cheddar, onion, lettuce, special sauce, mustard, pickles, toasted brioche. I will say next time I'd get the secret sauce on the side. I seemed to get all over the bottom of the burger making the bun soggy. It was very tasty and the accompanying fresh cut fries were great! I can't wait to come back maybe for brunch on a weekend and check out their patio. Plenty of street parking can be found.

Chicken katsu bowl and blue cheese mushroom burger.

Burger was juicy and tasty but the bowl was very underwhelming. The bowl lacked spice, flavor, seasoning, it all tasted like oily fried chicken and mayo. There was no heat, pepper, nor salt, the lime was dried out so lack of acid. Not picture, Buffalo wings, those were tasty, fried nicely and coated well in sauce.

Bar from where we were sitting.

So Good! We happened to stop in for a quick dinner and they had just opened. The atmosphere was relaxed. I asked for a cucumber margarita and it was delicious. I also had the chicken bowl - a good choice. They were super nice and attentive. Hoping to see them again!

On my first visit I enjoyed the relaxed tone ambiance of the bar. The seasonal and classic cocktails were all appealing. My partner and I tries the Good old Neon, Kentucky Buck and Shot with a Lil Buddy. All were very tasty and savory. Our bartender was great and had such a positive attitude. We plan to make this our neighborhood bar.

One of their specials during the summer, Pimento Fried Chicken sandwich. So good!

If you're familiar with Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club, then you should come here for dinner! They're owned by the same person. The food is delicious and they have a great selection of drinks. Never disappointed with the food or service. Take advantage of the patio during warm months.

I tried this restaurant in North Park on a whim. The reviews were very mixed and figured it was worth a shot. It's definitely a bar, with food. When you first walk in, there's a beautiful bar places in the back and a few small tables to sit for actual food. Despite that, I wanted food. We started with the poke stack. Quite a few yelpers wrote that it was good and they were correct! It comes with three pieces of a cracker that tastes like Nori but is a bit thicker, grade A quality tuna, and a few other ingredients. I would eat it over and over if I could. Definitely impressed! I, then, decided to try something out of the blue and get their steak toast. It sounded super interesting: sourdough bread, steak, tomato, cottage cheese. I like all of those separately but was unsure about them all together, especially the cottage cheese. Be warned, you NEED to like cottage cheese to get this dish. Overall, it was a very interesting dish. All the ingredients actually worked- I'd definitely recommend. A couple of others commented about the price. It's not too expensive, it's reasonably priced a tad bit on the high end. The poke stack was $14, cocktails are about $12, the entree was $17. Nothing too crazy- especially for good food!

A very friendly neighborhood place that offers delicious dishes! My friends and I ordered steak toast, hummus and BLT salad. The steak was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I believe they used white beans to make the hummus that was served with carrots, cucumbers and plenty of pita bread. I devoured my BLT salad because it was that delicious. My Kamikaze was a bit disappointing because it came with a cherry. There are only 3 ingredients in a kamikaze and cherry isn't one of them, not even to garnish. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely come back to try other dishes.

Fried pork & vegetable wontons in a tasty sauce.

Alas, my catchphrase being "I eat and I know things" means ordering food is a given. That was a mistake, but not as bad as whoever made the decisions behind the Heartbreaker Burger. Let me start with the good. I started with the M&M shot, a simple yet tasty, and not face-melting combo of mescal and Montenegro. I drink spirits neat, so YMMV, but something I wouldn't mind ordering again. Next, I tried the Vieux Carre: a solidly executed classic with balanced flavors and spirit-forward without going overboard. While the bevvies are not mind-blowing, the prices are low - In the year of our Lord 2026, $12-13 for a cocktail in Chicago is almost unheard of outside of happy hour. The vibe is old-timey and retro. Loads of wood, exposed brick, and wallpaper that your great aunt probably had. There are a few game-heads on the walls, for I guess great uncle likes to hunt. There is also a piece of art on the walls that, feels almost like it can go in a museum, but not quite. Let's say this: gentlemen, I would advise against brining a date here, lest you be tempted to look a little too long. Alas, we've now arrived at the abomination that is the, perhaps aptly named, Heartbreaker burger. To start, it was wrapped in foil and tasted through and through as though it's been sitting under a heater for at least an hour. The lettuce within had time to wilt due to the heat, making it go from a positive addition, past neutral, and into negative. The patty missed the mark: In this case, Smasburger applies to the thinness, and not at all to a roasty, crispy, Maillard-y consistency. Between the thin piece of strongly favored meat, and bun a little too large and dense, all other ingredients lost their presence. Further, If felt the burger was so bready, I removed the top bun and turned it into a fork and knife affair. I'm all for burgers getting wider, rather than only so tall one can't open their jaw so far, but not like this. Hardly worth mentioning are the sides of Tater Tots and Queso. Both weren't heartbreaking, but at the same time, wholly unremarkable. Felt as though I could easily beat these with a quick stop at Aldi. I've no complaints about the service. Since I came right around opening, it was very quiet. Still, I was well-taken care of, and things came out relatively quickly. Final verdict: Sweethearts Bar makes inexpensive, solid classic cocktails in a mostly retro vibe. However, the alleged-smashburger left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively, spoiling the experience. Would return?: Probably not. There was nothing on the menu that I couldn't easily and cheaply recreate myself. Would recommend?: Also probably not. If you're looking to catch up with a group in a space without a TV, Sweethearts and its cheap drinks aren't a bad deal. For all other cases, I would not recommend.

The ambiance is really nice without feeling too "stuffy". Bar was gorgeous and service was friendly and helpful, allowing my boyfriend to sample some wines before going in on some bottles. Prices were what you'd expect for a trendy natural wine bar. The complimentary corn nuts in the antique dish were a cute touch. The charcuterie board with mixed meat and cheese was really small though. Only three pieces of cheese for five people... it made it feel like an awkward fight over who'd get to try some. The gluten free crackers were appreciated though. We ended up ordering more food including the "party tray" which I would describe more as charcuterie nachos. We didn't really know what to expect with this one so we got the canned mussels but it really would've tasted better with the prosciutto instead. It included a whipped cheese, olives, and cornichons piled onto potato chips. Less of a tray and more of a nacho-style dish. If we return next time we're in town, I'd skip the food and focus more on the wine. Beyond that, it was a fun time!
