Food is hit or miss. Service depends on what bartender is working. The older one acts like he is doing you a favor getting you a drink. He will ask you when he is damn good and ready. Meh food. Not bad, not great. Fake maple syrup on the crispy VT chicken sandwich, very disappointed about that, also chicken was a bit dry. The VT burger was also ok. My husband and I split both sandwiches. Sweet potato fries were pretty good though, tasted like typical frozen sweet potato fries lol hard to mess that up. Good selection of local beers though and the servers were really nice. Very casual, good music. Wouldn't come back intentionally based on the food. Very cute and inviting Irish pub. The apps were my favorite. We ordered fried pickles, potato wedges with curry sauce and pretzel sticks - all amazing. They use local potatoes here. Good meal as well but apps were the star for sure. Service was good and no complaints. read more

The service was okay but the drinks were not good, the food was over cooked and the atmosphere was not desirable. There were a some locals that seemed overly comfortable and made the experience seem like you weren't welcome unless you're part of their group. McGillicuddys in Essex and Colchester is great and despite having the same owners as Mulligan's, from what the menu said, the experience was nothing like a trip to McGillicuddys. The guy that answered the phone was nice but I paid $40 for burgers and fried pickles that were terrible quality. They tasted bad. The fries were either fried for too long in oil that wasn't hot enough or refried. They messed up my order, they asked pink or no pink I asked for pink in all three and they all came well done. Worst. Dining. Experience. EVER. I wish this was an exaggeration, but unfortunately it was my horrific reality when dining here. The exterior screams dive bar, and the interior wasn't the most comforting. Our server must have had better things to do than take our order or inquire about drinks. When we finally were approached and placed an order, it took over 30 min to receive a basket of soggy fried pickles (mind you, the "dining area" consisted of seven total people). The food was bland and seriously undercooked. Ultimately, we had to send our meals back. The only other time since taking my order that I saw our server, was to give us the check. Don't waste your time. What a horrible establishment. A buddy of mine and I stopped by after playing golf to get some food and a few beers. There were about 20 people there inside and out with at least three wait staff working. We sat inside for 10 minutes before a couple at the next table offered us their menus so we could at least see what the options were. After 15 minutes, I heard the waitress from outside tell the bartender to find help for the inside. At the 20 minute mark, a couple came in and sat at the table behind us and a waitstaff walked right past our table and asked them what they wanted to drink. I liked it here when we went with some friends. The food was typical pub stuff, the drinks were fine. Our waitress was great! Very friendly and attentive to us. There was live music and it was a bit too loud for the type of music it was, noise level was higher than some places. I think its a fun spot to hang out with friends in. read more

I've been here a few times over the years. Always thought of it as a bit of a dive bar that served mostly fried food while serving up mediocre drinks or pricey beers. On my most recent visit it seems as though things have improved some. Yeah its a pub and thus you get pub food, but its decent pub food, albeit overpriced. I didn't have anything to drink on my last visit so I cannot really comment on that, but the drink list still seemed a bit pricey (with daily specials of course). This place is Meh, but a, "Meh, hmmm, not bad and the people sure don't creep me out as much as they do at some of the other places...meh." I would probably go here again before going to The Quarry again, unless I'm going with the purpose of watching a game. read more

If I am dragged here, I will go. The last time I was there we were seated outdoors and had to self service all our drinks ourselves, as the waitress was sitting at the table next to us chatting with other employees who were off duty. As soon as you walk in the place, it's off putting. You squeeze past the tub of dressings placed right next to the door and all of the tables are jammed in the middle so its really difficult to actually make it to the bar. I have had to request a "clean glass" from the bartender, as he kept making my rum and cokes in the same glass, even reusing the lime. Gross. I have eaten the fish n chips, which appeared to be a couple triangular Van D Kamp type fish patties... Not impressed at all and I avoid this place like the plague. read more

This one is a shame to the rest of the hearty and welcoming Irish Pubs. The place is not maintained-torn seat covers, flies buzzing around, caked up ketchup containers. My bluemoon came with a soggy orange & the waitress have no idea what "spicy" means. This place is horrible...the staff is rude and I have actually seen them tell obviously intoxicated people to drive home rather than help them find a cab ride home. Their waitresses are extremely rude to female customers to the point that they come off as just plain bitchy and then are extremely vocal as to why their tips were less than 20%.They are desperately trying to be something they aren't...an Irish pub but they don't serve any irish food or stock decent whiskey. i am not a fan of irish pubs, but this place was great as it had outdoor seating, music, and liveliness that most places in vt are always lacking. good place for vt. put it in the middle of nyc, miami or boston and it wouldnt last a minute, but i will go back here to drink beer and eat ok vt food.
