This is a very standard dive bar in the middle of Eugene. But I always enjoy it here. There's no funny business here. Fellow cstomers and workers alike are very friendly and you feel very safe. Wednesday's are karaoke night and it always amazes me how all of a sudden a room of strangers suddenly become friends. Whether they are bad, good or new singers everyone has a great time. Mulligans Pub is "OK." This bar is very compact I could feel the other person breathing on me. I would not recommend this bar if your in a big group the seating here is very limited. I went in there to watch the Oregon State Beavers vs Oregon Duck game. They have 2 pool tables with pretty decent tables and I even saw some slot machines in the back. The bar tender was nice and asked if we needed anything. This is your typical bar no bells and whistles: just beer, pool tables, tv's and beer. read more

Denied me and my TWENTY-FOUR (24)YEAR OLD FRIEND because he forgot his zip code on his license (He has moved 3+ times in a short period of time.) Bouncer was completely unprofessional acting like a cop with a big ego... and of course some 40 year old female had to instigate and talk smack to my friend. Was only looking to have a few drinks and move on to another bar but that didn't turn out happening. Hope this place thinks about training their staff in checking ID's (Possibly even adding ID Scanners) as well as training on proper business etiquette/appropriate language. I've been here on three occasions with the last two being pretty great interactions. The last interaction I had was very negative. It was with a bartender named Brandon. Apparently I missed hearing last call, and Brandon took my beer, 3/4 of a pint saying "This is my pint" with a smile and dumped it. I hadn't heard him saying last call at all, and told him I didn't understand why he had dumped more than half a pint after just giving me more than half a pint I just paid more. He proceeded to tell me that he had already had asked last call, asked the latter half of the bar if they had hear them and they had said no, and he said it didn't matter because he had already said last call. I told him him I didn't hear him, and asked if I could have a credit for the next time I was in the bar, and he told me to get the fuck out of his bar repeatedly. I was not overly intoxicated. I am a newer regular, I live right around the block. I did not yell or argue with the bartender, I only questioned why he would dump a pint without warning (which I told him I may have not heard due to my years working on the railroad). I will continue to go to the place, but do demand I hear from an operator of the bar as to why I was treated like shit from the bartender when asking about their actions. I feel like they were being blatantly discriminate, and this is absolutely unacceptable. Please note this is one experience with a bartender named Brandon, every other experience has been class and top notch. I would not recommend any other folks of color patronize this establishment until this situation is resolved. read more

Went in for open mic night after working all day at my dispensary where I'm a shift lead to get my id almost confiscated and called fake, when I offered my passport and OLCC license they told me to get out. Typical old females jealous of someone getting more attention than them in their bar. Get new bartenders and maybe a blacklight to check id's. Will never come back. Looked like everyone in there was above 50 and a regular. If you're 21-30 expect to be told your id is fake. read more

Well... you're either a fan of dive bars or you're not. Some great music continues to issue forth from the "stage" even these days, with Steve Ibach gracing the airwaves every Tuesday night. There's a happy hour where the beers (many good local drafts) cost $3 (i think between 4-6 pm weekdays)... The scene out back is more or less tobacco-only these days. The clientele... well, my friend Dennis Smith and I have dubbed them "Mulligan's choir" because these are serious music heads many of whom think themselves to be outstanding vocalists, and some of them are... If you're a performing artist, you haven't really made the rounds in Eugene until you've gigged at Mulligans. read more

The name is kind of misleading; the bar isn't the main attraction here (though there is seating for about 6 on a walk-up basis.) Mulligans is one of the few swank restaurants in town (think Red Agave dress code.) Definitely not Stuffy Old Republican Swank, either. The grub is a somewhat unpredictable fusion-pacific-northwest kind of thing. Everything I've tried has been delivered with a keen eye for presentation. With such a strong theme going on here, I was surprised to find that they have Coors Light on tap, and visible to the dining area. Bad form, but not enough to dock them a star. All I can say about this place is......wow. This is the ONLY place I have ever been to where you can go to the smoking patio and actually see people smoking weed and doing lines. No joke. I went there for first time in the summer of 2011 and was disgusted. This is only a place for a true bar fly. Don't go there if you want atmosphere, polite company and any sort of entertainment unless you are a fan of the Jerry Springer type of crowd. Always loved this place for some reason. Partly because there are always people showing up with guitars to jam out back. Lots of good times whether there is live music or karaoke or not. They have at times had a classic arcade machine or two, which is a big plus for me. Cool bartenders. Fun karaoke and open mic nights. My one complaint -- they need to put up a sign, saying "look if you're a man seeking homo sex, please don't bother our male customers with that if they aren't showing any signs of interest." Mulligans seems to draw rude, sneaky and/or pushy men seeking homo sex. I have no problem with a dude who wants sex with men, but if a dude hits on me, and I don't respond showing any interest in dating or sex or whatever, it should end there. The pushing for sex, that is. If they still talk to me that's fine, no problem. Just don't harass people for sex if they're not interested, you know? That's why I don't go there much anymore. If Mulligan's put up a sign like that I would bump their rating up a star. Also they need to get some food on the menu. All they have is pretzels and crappy chips. read more

Went there to scope the open mic night in town visiting an old friend and it was pretty disappointing. My half black/Cherokee friend was stared at by what turned out to be a pretty racist and intolerant crowd. The old white pool players scoffed at the idea of her playing pool. The bartender Checked our IDs as a mild form of harassment and solidarity with the customers. Decided to drink a beer outside and not trying to play pool. Pretty bad vibe, never going again. I am a fan of Eugene nightlife. We have a great assortment of bars, clubs, and restaurants that help create a diverse and fun atmosphere in this city. While I have had the occasional waiter whose bad mood wasn't left at the door, I have never experienced even a smidgen of the rudeness found at Mulligan's Pub. We went on St. Patrick's day for a drink. 9pm, and the place was comfortably busy. I ask the bartender for "a margarita on the rocks please" and he looks at me, shakes his head, and goes to prepare it. He comes back five minutes later with my drink - in a shot glass. I think there is some deal going on perhaps; mini drinks for a day that promotes leprechauns? Nope. He charges me full price and when I try to ask him about the drink size, he walks away. Later, when one of my friends asks him about the glass size, in a joking, mellow tone, he gets angry and tells him that if he "wants to impress some girl, he should take his hoity toity ass somewhere else". If you want good service and a good time, I'd suggest staying far, far away from Mulligan's! read more
