Great dive bar and great food! Never disappoints! Service is always on point. My favorite local hang out.

Sonny's is a wide open space, with plenty of tables, high bar and the bar itself seating. Two dart boards, five pool tables and video poker machines provide plenty of entertainment options. Free pool on sundays. A smokers area out back and patio upfront give you outside options. Service is always good from behind the bar and it's best to order upon entering. If you just enter and head in, intakes a few minutes for someone to come out from behind bar. Food is good - all burgers are excellent! Great prices, great drinks and good food! The place is nice and spacious but unfortunately the service wasn't the best. I myself am a bartender so I know weekends are busy. The bartenders we're ok, it took them a while for them to take our order, second the older lady messed it up. What made me really upset was the min we put an order they asked for our card which was fine with me but about 4 others came in and they we're not asked to put a card on hold, and I hate ever using this but we we're at that time the only Latinos in there. They also never brought our second round. I wouldn't recommend this place. Oh and that night some customer hit another person car in the parking lot. read more

Just moved into the neighborhood and walked over to have a drink,awesome Bartender staff,Micky,very welcoming and makes a incredible Manhatten,the Cajin Fries are ohh so good! The folks there were really nice and cleanest ladies restroom for a tavern I've been in ,in along time,only a 9 min walk from my home so I'll be back fir sure! The food wasn't all bad but I think I had higher expectations for all of the hype I had heard of the Stumpy burgers. My Stumpy was a little too crispy, and I could barely taste the sauce that is raved about. The skippy was fine except I do like other peanut butter burgers better that are in our area. I would eat it again if I am here because I love peanut butter. The smoked jalapeño poppers were really good and full of flavor, so no complaints there. In fact I was really happy they were fully cooked. I could have been here on an off night for the stumpy to not be so great, I don't know. It also may have been that I had a sinus infection, and my taste buds were off at the time. It certainly will not stop me from coming back, the service was great, fast, and welcoming. read more

My wife and I went here on vacation because I was craving to play pool. It's 0.75 cents a game, but they also open the table for $5 per hour so that's what I did. We were there 3 hours (some of it for happy hour) and our drinks, pool, 2 tacos and appetizer were $35. Each time I went up to the bar for a drink I met a local and had a nice conversation and others talked to my wife at the pool table. We felt if we lived here this is the kind of place we would hang out at. I really enjoyed myself and if anyone who works there reads this I want to say thanks for everything. read more

Damn I love this place!! It's a darn good thing it's too far from home to frequent, because I would eat a stumpy burger every single day. Then they would call my short fat ass Stumpy Man. It ain't gonna make Food Network for amazing and creative fare. No one driving by is gonna say, "WOW! I NEED to go there. It looks so inviting and interesting." And if they do go in...they ain't gonna take home any interior design ideas. BUT...They will have pretty good service, a decent selection of adult beverages, and pound packing dive-bar food all at a great value. You really have to try the stumpy burger. The classic and the flame thrower are my favorites, but they also have a Skippy stumpy burger and one other I can't remember. Listen. I can't explain WHY I love them so much. My husband and I were in the area and looking for a place to grab a drink and some dinner. When we walked through the [sketchy, no-window, strip club feel] door, we immediately looked to see if there was anything on tap. We almost walked out--they had 4 beers on tap--but the waitress was super friendly. She was telling another patron that the pizza oven was warming up which got my husband's attention. We never even looked at the menu--the waitress recommended a reuben-like pizza, which is what we got, with a pitcher of beer. The place was a little chilly, but that's just me being nit-picky. There were plenty of pool tables, darts, video poker machines, and big screen tvs to keep us entertained. We LOVED the pizza. It was absolutely perfect bar food to go with some beers. So glad we stopped in to this joint! read more

I heard Sonnys had good taco Tuesdays so I stopped by. The place was packed for 75. Cent tacos. Cori was the bar tender and I have no clue how she and another waitress were able to take care of such a full house. Cori was on top of everything, I watched as she went through the entire restaurant, table to table, serving people with a smile and without stopping for even a moment for her self. I've grew up in the restaurant business and I know good service when I see it. I had the hard 75 cent tacos and two fish tacos. Both were really good. read more

Had a nice time with friends here for a karaoke night. They have a pretty large selection, and although it was a little quiet, there was non-stop singing. Their beer selection is not very exciting, but I had a good cocktail. In addition to karaoke, they have a number of arcade games, right in the main area so you don't feel too isolated from your friends, as well as some pool tables! We arrived a little late for food, but our friends recommend the Rueben pizza. read more

Great place! Cheap drinks, pool tables, dart boards, music, and a helpful staff! I was in Springfield for business last week and was having a difficult time finding a bar/tavern that was open late (2:00am) on a Monday night. Sonny's stayed open until 2:15am even though there was only myself and three friends in the bar. The bartender was constantly coming by our table to check on us! Excellent service! read more

This bar has kinda a rough store front but don't be fooled inside is a cool bar with very personable staff, pool tables, lottery, and TVs. What else do you need in a bar food seems to be pretty standard bar food. But all in all I was pleasantly surprised. It's no palace but good service. read more

Been a frequent and loyal customer here since 2003 and love the local atmosphere and food....until this morning. My fiancé and i had the most rude and abusive experience i think i have ever had ever!!!! Not only were we treated badly upon enyeting our first order due to our initial order my fiancé tried to apologize to the bartender and was met with attitude and loud verbal contract that the entire bar could hear. I then went to cash out a video lottery ticket and she told me this would be the last ticket she would be cashing for us thus forcing us to spend the remainder of our credits unwillingly. I'm not sure what type of management changes have taken place recently but i am certain this is not the same Sonnys i have been going to for the last 19 years. I will only be returning there to file a formal complaint to the owner and upon his reaction will decide how to proceed. I'm very unhappy with a place that i frequent and spend 200 to 500 dollars a week on food drinks and entertainment to leave such a bad taste in my mouth and ruin an otherwise lovely sunday morning. Always have a good experience with this place. It seems like a place I would want to avoid, but It always proves to be an alright place. The owner is a real personable guy with endless bag of jokes. They sell 6-packs super cheap when everyone else nearby is closed. The people there don't seem to have much to talk about except maybe sports, but again they aren't staring me down or trying to intimidate or start fights or any of that immature crap.
