We had Pam as our server, and never have I met a happier, more eager to please server. Despite being short staffed and having an 18 top, she was eager to make their custom Bloody Marys. After receiving them, we realized there was a meat stick, and one in our party was a vegetarian, so without asking, she happily made another veg Bloody Mary on the house. The table next to us ordered a lot of food with several substitutions, and she said the kitchen can accommodate any and all special requests. Very good bar and grill near my husband's family's lake cottage. They cater to community and the staff not only knew the regulars, they stopped and chatted with them a bit as they came inside. If you're in the area, Mulligan's is a solid choice. They do a booming business and the parking lot was very full when we visited for lunch. They offer inside and outside seating and the day we arrived there was live entertainment outside. The inside features a long bar where a good many people were enjoying one of Pam's World Famous Bloody Marys. We didn't indulge but they were impressive looking and quite evidently popular. The dining area had both high and low-top tables. We were a party of three and we each customized a burger. They were all very good and thoroughly enjoyed, as were the waffle fries. Atmosphere: I've been coming to this place for food since I was little and for drinks for the past 5 years. Not much has changed. Crowded bar area with gambling machines to the left and a dining area to the right. The bathrooms need some serious TLC, the owners said they are looking to do a remodel in the next year, so I am super excited about that. Service: If you aren't a local, you are usually treated a bit differently. The experience also depends a lot on the owners' current mood. This is a family run business, son and daughter both work here as do the parents (the owners). I like the quirky personalities of Pam and her husband to be honest. Gives the place great character, and you can tell the kids really respect the family business. Drinks: Pam's World Famous Bloody Mary is a meal in itself. When thinking of ordering it, be hungry. They provide a chaser with the bloody mary, anything that they currently have on tap. Food: Generous portions and homey down to earth cooking. I'd say the menu is a jazzed up version of bar food. I never leave here hungry. I really enjoy their wraps and the deep fried mac n cheese bites, yummy yummy! We stopped by last Sunday and they seemed short staffed and after sitting down they forgot about us for about 20 minutes and we had to sorta wave down the waitress. I ordered the quesadilla and water. I was given a bottle of water which was a first at a restaurant. I would have liked a cup with ice. Our food came after a brief wait and it was alright. The ends of the quesadilla were really greasy but the center of it was packed full of yummy chicken, onions and cheese. It was served with sour cream and some mild salsa. We were camping at Chequamegon-Nicolet, at Bagley Rapids, and looking for lunch. Our options were pretty limited, and this place had the most reviews but only 3.5 stars. We went up and down the highway for a bit, and Mulligan's had the biggest crowd, so we stopped. What a pleasant surprise! The menu was large, but my friend had his eye on the Sunday special right away - all you can eat wings. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with corn nuggets to start. They were delicious, my friend said the wings were really good, too, and the pork sandwich was so big it was all I could do to eat half. I haven't been here in years and was recently reminded why. We had a terrible experience last week due to the owner's (Pam I believe) ineptitude. The food was mediocre, the prices are slightly higher (not outrageous) than the other 15 or so establishments with 6 miles. However, the service from our waitress Jenifer was outstanding. The real issue I have with this place started with the owner sweeping the floor around our table while we were eating. (Nothing like a little debris in your food.) As we were getting ready to leave the owner brought two large dogs into the dining room, that she was barely able to control. Seeing my 9-year-old grandson standing there, both dogs strained at their leash to get to him, while the owner was oblivious as to what was happening. Having recently been attacked by a German Sheppard my grandson was terrified. I don't believe the dogs were attacking, just overly curious and OUT OF CONTROL. I had to scream at the owner 3 times to get the dogs out of there. Her only response was "we have always been a dog friendly bar". Please note; I 100% SUPPORT BRINGING YOUR DOG TO ESTABLISHMENTS WITH DOG FRIENDLY PATIOS. We stopped here on our way back from a weekend trip to the Porcupine Mountains. I'm a wings lover, and Legend Larry's sauces are the best. Unfortunately the service at Mulligans is not as good as the wing sauce. We sat down and it took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us for a menu and drinks. When they did take our 4 drink order, we only got 3 of the drinks ordered. Finally, a young gentleman waiter stopped and asked if we needed anything. We explained we were ready to order 20 minutes ago and I would like to get the cola I ordered. Many apologies and we finally got things straight. Pretty small TVs for a "sports bar". It was 11, no breakfast served so I looked at a menu and thought about lunch. Standard "Legend Larry" wings found all over Wisconsin. So, typical small frozen wings deep fried and tossed in a choice of uninspiring prepackaged sauces. No thanks. I ordered the signature Bloody Mary. Looked impressive. Tasted just ok. Comes with everything - except vodka. Why am I being so hard on the place? Just a meh attitude from the bartender. It's a gorgeous fall day. I'm happy and upbeat and wish her a good morning. Nothing. A zombie. Not overtly rude, just snobby and a little impatient. I don't need her to dance and sing, but a smile would be ok. It wasn't busy and she had plenty of time to chat up the locals. I could tell what kind of response I would get if I ordered a shot of vodka to add to my Bloody Mary. Look, it's a roadside bar in the middle of nowhere. Might want to be a little personable. I've been coming here since it opened, and between myself and my family I've tried nearly everything. First, the drinks. Possibly on the expensive side for the area, but cheap compared to city prices. Good selection of draft beers, including a couple WI microbrews. The old-fashioned sweet/sour are quite popular, and pretty strong - I'd recommend going with one of these. The bar area is usually pretty talkative, contributing to a nice atmosphere if you're alone or with one other. The food is hit or miss. Some of the dishes are enormous: the wraps, the taco salad, the chicken wings... others are just so-so: chili, pizza, grilled cheese, other salad. I'd stick to their sandwiches and burgers, and definitely try the homemade "chippers". Just be prepared for enormous portions in this category. The food prices are reasonable as well. Bottom line: it's nicer than the bars in downtown Lakewood, and much more family-friendly. Interesting bar/restaurant in the north woods. They are famous for their bloody Mary's ($8.75) but I haven't tried it. I've had several meals here but my favorite was the Ruben. It's huge. My boyfriend had the prime rib sandwich and it was loaded with peppers and onions. Our waitress was new but found out the answers to questions she didn't know rather than tell us misinformation. The ordering is done on iPads by the waitstaff so ordering took a while since she was trying to figure things out. No worries- you're in the woods... You should have time. :) read more

Has the Friday fish fry with perch, salad, and waffle fries. Lightly breaded and huge portion of fish, and the waffle fries were good to. Tarter was so-so and the salad is literally some chopped lettuce with a teaspoon of fine shredded cheese. Half the place is a dive bar and the other a more formal seating area. I mean considering that there is really not much else in the area, this is an okay option. I've been coming here since I was a whee young'un and back then I of course thought this place was the creme de la creme of restaurants. Not so much anymore though. They boast about their wings, which ultimately are pretty much the worst wings I've had. Surely don't order these expecting something similar to what you'd find at Buffalo Wild Wings. For, in true Wisonsin-style, Mulligans must fry their wings for probably four times as long as regular wings, plus their wings have hardly any meat on them. Add to that a disgusting sauce that is strewn onto the plate and you have yourself something real appetizing...for a bear maybe. I've ordered different sandwiches here multiple times and am always disappointed. The bread had potential before is was left to soak in a stick of butter for awhile; it ends up coming out super greasy and soggy as you can probably imagine. Basically, all elements of the sandwich, whether it be a chicken sandwich or a ham sandwich are thwarted by the butter-laden bread and excessive amounts of low-quality cheese. Their pizza is standard. Not delicious. Not disgusting. But very cheesy. The only thing I've heard positive feedback on with this place is their wraps. Though I've never ordered one myself, I hear they are pretty good. Service is hit or miss and largely depends on what waiter you have at this place. One lady I had here was super rude, but then the next time I came I had the complete opposite experience with a super attentive, informative, and polite waiter. Generally this is a good lunch/dinner spot because, unlike many of the town's remaining restaurants, Mulligans isn't completely devoted to being a bar - there's more of an even-ish balance between restaurant and bar at this place. read more

We are camping at Chute Pond and the first night we always go out to eat. This place was close by so we decided to try it. Everything was very good! There were 7 of us (parents, teens and all the way down to 6 years old) The kids meals were super cheap, like $2.99-$4.99, and the rest of the menu was well priced. We ordered burgers, wings, and a prime rib sandwich. Some got fries, and waffle fries but I tried their "chippers" which are home made potato chips dusted in ranch powder and served with ranch for dipping. Really yummy. Our sandwiches were HUGE. 7 people and our bill was $66. Definitely will come back the next time we get up this way. read more

My place to hit when I'm up north is Mulligans. I usually get a double cheese burger and these things are massive and they taste so gooood! The homemade chips they make are just killer, great atmosphere for watching any type of sports. If I where in a 20 mi visinity of this place I'd frequent here 2 times a week. Initially came for lunch with my Wife and found out if you get a Bloody Mary ( delicious! ) you don't have room for much else. Over the top relishes and just the right amount of spice. Did I mention DELICIOUS! We have stated bringing business associates here to experience another reason to enjoy the Wisconsin Northwoods. Stopped in for lunch and was quite disappointed. I had the Legend Larry's wings with bourbon sauce. They were very small and not much meat-mostly some hard type of batter. My friend had the chili and said it was very good. Even ordered some to take home. He also had a 1000 Island burger, ordered medium.
