For 15 years, my family and I were loyal State Farm customers. We paid around $1,300 per month in premiums and never once filed a claim. On November 24, 2025, I was driving my $180,000 flagship luxury vehicle with only a few thousand miles on it when another driver hit the entire driver side of my car. The damage was significant. The vehicle was taken to a certified body shop where the repair estimate came back at $31,000. State Farm's offer was $6,000. Because of this dispute, my car has now been sitting at the body shop for six months waiting for State Farm to properly address the claim. Six months without the use of a vehicle that was practically brand new. What made the situation even more frustrating was the response from the local State Farm office where we purchased our policies. For 15 years, the staff in that office were very friendly, polite, and helpful whenever it came to signing us up for coverage and collecting our premiums. As long as we were paying every month, the customer service was great. But the moment we had an actual claim, the attitude completely changed. When my wife contacted the office to explain what was happening with the claim, the response she received was that they "only sign people up for insurance" and that they "have nothing to do with the claims department." That response was incredibly disappointing. If an office is going to represent a company, sell its policies, and collect premiums from customers for over a decade, they should not suddenly distance themselves the moment a serious issue arises. After paying thousands of dollars in premiums over the years, being told that the office that sold us the policy has nothing to do with helping when there is a problem is unacceptable. Between the claim handling and the lack of support from the office that sold us the policy, we ultimately canceled our State Farm coverage after 15 years and moved our insurance elsewhere. This entire experience has been extremely disappointing. If you are considering getting insurance here, just understand something very clearly. They are very helpful and friendly when signing you up and collecting your premiums. But when something actually happens and you need real help, that support will disappear.
