It's amazing what hidden gems are tucked away in Rochester. I would have never known about this side street gallery had it not been for the invite I received to an event there. It's a great venue for a cocktail party - there are two rooms and could comfortably fit at least 50 people. There's a projection screen too if need be. If not for a party, you're welcome to visit the gallery during open hours. There was some impressive work displayed when I visited. What a great opportunity for the RIT students to be able to feature their hard work to the local community in the Neighborhood of the Arts. Parking can be a challenge if you don't land a spot on the College Ave. Village Gate parking lot is the next best spot, but you'll have to walk a bit to get there.

They also have some apartments and a few other shops and stores I'm not as familiar with. Eclectic. East Main Clay has a nice assortment of ceramic items, including garden gnomes (& other items) that you can build a pole of. Funky tea pots, mugs, plates, and more. Hodaka Pottery on the 4th floor has lovely Japanese themed ceramics. The Hungerford Bldg had First Friday (of the month after 5) and Second Saturday days events where most of the studios and ships are open for business. Chime check them out, particularly as the holiday gift giving season iof here. Support local in the best sense of the word. The Community Design Center and Reconnect Rochester/Rochester Cycling Alliance address both noon profits dedicated to making Rochester and it's infrastructure better for ALL of her residents, regardless of their income. I've been going to the Strasenburgh since early childhood. It's an incredible local gem of interest…read morethat's been around for ages, a wonderful spot for those so inclined towards space, science and the stars. Great shows, a wonderful experience. If ever you are at the museum this is a great place to visit. It's a time capsule of knowledge, and a wonderfully nostalgic generational experience that has somehow both stayed fresh, even as it stays as it has been since I was six.

It took us around 20-25 minutes to walk around then it was time to get on line for the show. We had purchased our tickets ahead of time. They have senior and military discounts with ID. The "Night Sky" show lasted about 45 minutes, it was extremely interesting and well narrated live by one of the employees. There were several children there of all ages but they were so quiet and totally absorbed with the show. I would definitely visit again and see another show. Parking was right next to the building and was free.

I was surprised to see their Cafe was closed on a Saturday afternoon...very bizarre. But it is what it is. The price was a bit steep to be honest as well. On other experiences we've visited the planetarium which is excellent. Unfortunately they didn't have a show for us that day that we could make but it's OK. Definitely a great spot to visit with kids and the family for a nice afternoon.

Anthology is music venue that has a history of hosting a wide range of musical acts, from indie…read morebands to metal legends. It initially opened in September 2015, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and reopened by new management company, SCN Hospitalty. The venue is known for its capacity of around 1,000 people and its ability to accommodate diverse musical genres. Recently went to my first concert here. Nice space, nicely decorated up top. Great sound quality, lighting was great. However, I'd probably never come here again during the summer months. It was 96 degrees outside, this is an indoor venue, it was a sold out show of over 700 people, and there is no A/C in the venue. People were absolutely miserable, I watched multiple people leave the show early because they passed out or were having some other medical issue from the intense heat. It was difficult to even breathe during the event. 3 bands went on stage and every one of them mentioned how ridiculously hot it was. How this is even allowed and not a health risk is crazy to me. Wasn't enough bar staff to keep up with the amount of people, especially cause everyone wanted/needed water, merch stands were set up in spots that made it even more difficult to move around the space. Just poorly set up. Only a few tables and chairs, so people who were having issues with the heat either needed to go downstairs to where the bathrooms were or leave the venue just to get some relief. It's too bad cause it really is a nice venue, but there's no way I'd go again during the warm months.

There are some tables in the bar area and less crowded standing room with TVs showing the stage if you dont want to be in the main stage area. The main floor has some limited seating on bleachers on either side which is a nice touch. I also like that there is a coat check downstairs by the bathrooms for no additional cost (with a tip jar). The capacity is probably around 1000 people. However, as much as I enjoy my time here whenever I come, I do have some legitimate concerns. This is a very warm venue with seemingly no central air and minimal ventilation, so it gets hot quickly and I can't imagine how much worse it must feel in the summer. There is a small gated area you can access outside for some freah air if there is space. I also have observed security staff turning a blind eye to issues and accepting bribes from patrons, so concert safety could absolutely be improved at this venue.

It was a bit difficult for us to find it since our GPS led us through the winding campus roads. There was ample parking in front of the Arts Center which was a delightful surprise. Since we got there fairly early, we took a short stroll around the concert hall. There were beautiful sculptures and art pieces around, a cute seating area (for students I'm guessing). The evening didn't start out great. The usher literally led us to the wrong seats, on the opposite end of the theater. It was an ordeal finding our seats and the people we passed while looking for our seats were quite rude which put me in a bad mood. The seats were a bit cramped; I couldn't stand up to dance. They were comfortable enough to sit in though! The acoustics weren't fabulous from where I was sitting by the right side door. During the intermission, I stepped out. Again, the people down our row were rude and grunted at us as we tried to get passed them. The water fountain outside of the door did not work! The concessions stand only took cash and it was super crowded. I ended up going to a vending machine downstairs. The bathroom I went to (downstairs) was very clean and spacious. It was much nicer than I had expected it to be. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the Nazareth Arts Center. On the one hand, it was a pretty and clean facility with decent seats. But on the other hand there were so many small things like the incompetent usher and broken water fountain that really turned me off to it. I'm willing to give it another try and come back for another show in the future (hopefully with a different crowd).
