There's a beautiful gem out on the west side that I'm so excited to have discovered. My son and I were out exploring and I really wanted to help him expand his taste preferences from just chicken nuggets and French Fries. I'm a big fan of Indian food, so I was hopeful to get him to try it again (after he'd previously decided he didn't like it). He reluctantly agreed to go along and I picked a few menu items that I thought he'd enjoy. Mom was right! He enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Pakora and naan. It was all delicious, and the portion sizes were plenty large for us to share and still have leftovers to take home. The staff was so friendly and welcoming-and even brought us complimentary ice cream to expand the taste test a bit. The pistachio ice cream was almost savory-with a grainy texture and spices added in, while the mango was true to the taste of mango. Both were fantastic, and we appreciated being introduced to Indian dessert. Wonderful experience and I'd love to come back when we are in the area again. read more

In the area after the Renaissance festival and stopped for dinner. Definitely did not disappoint! We were seated right away. There are no menus just a QR code and we ordered a chicken Mumbai, vegetable makhani, and a lamb saag with a butter garlic naan of course. The servers there were so nice, checking up on us making small talk. The main host seemed to know a lot of the regulars who also were happy to see him. It's rare to see that in restaurants these days and made the experience even more enjoyable. The dishes came with a side of fragrant, spiced jasmine rice which paired perfectly with the spices from the dishes. Everything was so flavorful and the naan soft and buttery. Great food and service! We started with the vegetable samosas... deeelicious. I had the lamb curry, my wife had the chicken tikka masala and we shared some garlic naan bread. The moment you walk in, the incredible smell hits you in the face! Mouth watering! The waiter was exceptional in recommending certain dishes and explaining how spicy the dish would be and also what side dishes came with which meals. When the kitchen staff brought out our 4 meals, it was all in different bowls with empty plates, so you can share the dishes if you like, kinda like a tapas. My 12 year old said this was the best restaurant he has ever been to! When packing up our left over, he added extra rice to make it a full left over meal and gave us plastic utensils to take as we were traveling from out of state! They went above and beyond! My wife wanted to go and try these guys out. We pulled up and their open sign was off.... Their hours said they should be open so we went in anyway. Turns out they were open and forgot the sign. We let them know and were seated quickly. Their tables are laid out so that there is a little more privacy than most places. I have to admit I really liked it. We started with their appetizer sampler. All of the items were perfect. Their sauces were not my favorite but they were close. I ordered a mushroom curry that was fantastic. My wife ordered a pineapple curry that reminded me of the feeling you get when you eat pineapple pizza, she liked it so it worked out for everyone. The one thing I worried about was when we ordered the waitress told us that it would be 25 minutes before our food would be ready. Ten minutes later we were served. read more

Mumbai House is fantastic! Don't let the ridiculous 1 star review fool you or turn you away. The service is fantastic. Multiple members of the waitstaff came to fill drinks, ask how things were, and were quick to clear the table, but never rushed us. The menu is full of variety and flavor. First let me say to the 1-star review (Bob H.) You need to try it again. We were talking with the waiter and they admitted they didn't know the restaurant was going to have so many customers for the opening days where mistakes were made. As far as the wait time, this is not fast food. Great food takes time but it is worth the wait, and it actually only took us 20 minutes to get our food. It's probably best to get there earlier because it already seems to be a popular restaurant with excellent food. Our waiter Naysan and Jaspereet provided great service as well as the other wait staff that checked on us. The food is incredible and it is so nice to have a restaurant (other than fast food) in the town of Tooele. I believe this is why the restaurant was so busy for the opening days. The ambiance is very good with nice music. It was a good experience for us and we're so glad they opened up here in Tooele. We definitely will be back! read more

Went to try Mumbai with the family tonight in Tooele hoping to discover a new restaurant and type of food I am not familiar with. We waited in line for 15 to 20 minutes to be seated which I thought was a reasonable period of time since the place just opened and was busy since most people from Tooele along with my family are excited, we finally have something that serves something other than Tex-Mex and hamburgers like the other 10 restaurants we have in Tooele. Once we were seated and it took another 25 minutes before a server approached our table and brought us a carafe and three glasses of water. We sat with our water watching people that were seated after us get their orders took and their food arriving at their tables for another 20 minutes before a waiter arrived and took our order for an appetizer and drinks only because he said he was busy we had to wait to order our main meal. The appetizer arrived in less than 10 minutes and was burnt so bad we could not finish it. We waited another 25 minutes before our waiter arrived at the table next to us that was just seated to ask them if he could take their order, we interrupted him and ask if we could pay him for our burnt appetizer and two sodas we ordered, he then realized he had screwed up and wanted to take our order I told him we had spent an hour there already and we did not wish to waste any more time, fearing that the nasty burnt appetizer was a preamble to what the meal was going to be like. He did not want to listen to us so we got up and went to the front desk and I asked the gentleman with the pagris on his head if I could pay him for the burnt appetizer and two sodas because we wanted to leave so we could go find dinner somewhere else. The waiter arrived and wanted us to return to our seat so he could take our order so seeing that neither of the two individuals could understand our evening was ruined and were pissed I just threw 20 bucks on the counter for shitty burnt appetizer and two sodas, and we walked out. I hope this is just the fault of poorly trained server and not a reflection of how the company runs. I hate to admit it, but I am stubborn and the only way I have figured out how to deal poor service and someone wasting nearly an hour and a half of my time is with my wallet so I will not return to this establishment and spend any money with them. read more

I went there with my wife last night to give it a try. I arrived first and so waited a bit for my wife to arrive. It then took a while for the server to come and take our order. I expected that since they were so busy. They did bring us water quickly. I ordered the lamb curry and my wife had the butter chicken. (I don't know the real name) Our food came in a reasonable time and was very good. Prices were higher than we are used to but the quality was low higher than we are used to here in Tooele. My wife asked about the bread and understood that it came with the meal. It doesn't. I did hear her asked specifically about that and the server did tell her it came with the meal. I didn't really believe him so I was not surprised to see the charges for bread on our bill. The only critique that I have is the rice was not very warm. My wife is a slow eater so she had to ask for some warm rice to finish her meal. I don't have that problem. I eat fast. I don't care for looking at the menu on my phone. I had to manually enter the web address because my phone wouldn't connect via the code on the table. My advice to anyone trying the Mumbai House in Tooele, be patient, try something new, enjoy yourself. The food is totally worth it! read more

We ordered food from the Mumbai House on there 2nd night open. We have been to a sister restaurant of there's an already knew there food was delicious. But also knew they would be swamped because it was there 1st week open, so decided to order online and do most of the waiting at home and pick it up. The wait would be an hour. The food was excellent! So delicious. I had the lamb curry with rice, a side of naan bread, and a mango lemonade. They give you a choice of mild, medium, and spicy for most of the entrees. I chose medium, and I found it a bit too spicy, and I am no wimp when it comes to spicy food. be forewarned. next time I'll order the mild. if you can't handle spicy I don't know what to tell you. Maybe they have some dishes that are not spicy, but I only tried two of their entrées so I don't know. The service was very good very friendly, very kind, and reasonably timely. I ordered from here 3 times before writing a review because I wanted to be sure. I had really high hopes but each time I was left sorely disappointed. I can barely call the food here Indian food. First, the sauces were watered down. Not just under seasoned, but actually watered down. All the entrees and appetizers I ordered were either under seasoned or not really seasoned at all. The colors were there without the flavor. The tandoori chicken tasted like any plain backed chicken you could buy at the grocery store painted red and it was covered with greasy sautéed vegetables. This was $20 for a cup the size of an ice cream scoop. I could continue and list each item I ordered but it all boils down to the same thing. No to little seasoning that only had a whisper of Indian flavoring. This restaurant does what a lot of Utah restaurants do.... Remove, eliminate, or water down authentic flavors, instead of giving their customers a culinary education and experience of what their culture's cuisine can offer. read more
