Nice spaced out food truck park. Stage. TV. Music. Bathroom. Kiddie playground

Jireh Tacos have great birria and crunch tacos. May need to wait a bit for the food. She was so polite and accommodating when requesting additional lettuce and tomato to go with our food. Brought it out to us. Came back next day for breakfast tacos and another combo of birria tacos. They were working on a large order so I had to go with what they could make quickly for me Bc I couldn't wait too long. I had to get on the road. Again accommodating Best they could. Haven't tried yet but sure is delicious. And they added my veggie this time as well. Sauces are very nice too! They take all forms of payment, but have some cash to place in the tip jar. When in area, Munch Park and Jireh Taco will be a go to spot. It felt clean and open. Would love to check out in evenings.

This is a hidden gem in Fredericksburg, a mix of locals and tourists. It's actually next door to Fredericksburg RV Park so pulls in people from all over. The selection of trucks runs from burgers, Mexican to soul food. Guess what they even have shaved ice. We tried the wings, Mac and cheese with greens at the Soup food truck. Wings and greens were really good the Mac and cheese just meh needed a little more cheese and seasoning. We also tried the coconut shrimp, street tacos, fried tacos and the corn in the cup from Nury's truck. Loved the fried tacos the best yum! The corn in a cup is sooo good too especially on a cool night. I want to try their Boston cream stuffed churos for dessert if I can fit anything else in lol. They have live music on Thursday and Saturday... nice chill place away from the hustle and bustle of Main St. not sure why Yelp is saying this place is closed it's not!!

We went on a Saturday night in July. All seating is outdoors, so dress appropriately. There was live music and about 4 food trucks were open. Okay, so this is an outdoor food truck and music venue so I suggest bringing some sanitary wipes for the table you choose. On a great note, Nury's food truck was there. Their items are yummy. I happen to love their fish filets at all three Nury's restaurants in Fredericksburg. We left with Bavarian Cream Filled Churros at $2.75 each.

This place definitely has the potential to be lots of fun but most of it was closed, probably due to COVID-19. There is a stage for live music, a stand selling alcoholic beverages (both closed), a playground, corn hole, a fire pit, two washrooms housed in silos, and approximately six or so food trucks, only three of which were open on a Saturday night. I ordered from Nury's, which also has a brick and mortar location nearby. I ordered the sopes with beef and based on the description of ingredients asked for no onion. I also ordered a churro. I was disappointed that the sopes were prepared with onion and tons of finely chopped cilantro, which I despise (apparently if you can't stand cilantro it is based on your genetics). The description did not mention cilantro so that was incredibly disappointing. I don't like to send food back because I have a fear the new order will be tampered with (watch "Road Trip" or "Waiting") so i did my best to remove the onion and cilantro, which was incredibly difficult considering how finely chopped they were. Even at that, the sopes were just okay. My husband said i must've liked it because I was taking my time chewing but really it was because some of the beef had lots of tendon and I was trying to work through it. I squeezed some lime on them and applied some salsa, which had no heat. The churro was pretty good. I gave up trying to remove the offending toppings on the second sope so my husband ate it. I was still hungry so we then tried driving to the Boudreauxs Cajun Kitchen food truck, which has a different address than Munch Park but apparently it parks at Munch but uses a different address. Very confusing! It must've been one of the trucks that was closed that evening. If I ever come back to Munch, it would only be to try Boudreauxs.

There's a nice long loop around the base of the rock top hike and there's the summit hike. The summit hike is the one that draws the crowds. On this occasion we opted to do the loop. The weather was pleasant, but got warm fast. There's not much shade, so prepare accordingly- sunscreen, hats, water. The trail is peaceful and quaint. We didn't see very many hikers or wildlife. The hike is relatively easy, until it isn't. At one point, I really thought we must have turned off the trail. We were down to single file, rocky terrain. I didn't remember this part of the trail so I'm memorializing my trauma now. Luckily, I was with a supportive and helpful partner who lead the way and helped me when I needed. Once we got passed that stretch of terror, we were home free! And then we had to traverse the parking lot clear to the other side. Come to find out, there's two ways to start the loop. Pro tip, park somewhere in the middle to trick yourself into feeling like the end doesn't last forever. Sign me up to go back on the winter!

Fantastic municipal park!…read more After a second year at this park, I can say that we love this park. This park is adjacent to the "mighty" Guadalupe River, and in particular Kerville's dammed in Guadalupe Lake, where the park's inhabitants can fish, swim, SUP, kayak, and pretty much anything else you can do in a small body of water. Our scouts had a fantastic time, they spent the entire day in the water... and would have spent the night, had we let them. The grounds on the river side are clean, but fully to semi- exposed to the sunlight, which can be brutal in the Texas summers. This side also has cabins, two docks and a recreation space for events. All were being utilized, but everybody was respectful and friendly. We did cross the highway to hike some of the trails on the opposite side of the park. We found various trails of 3-5 miles of length. There were more cabins and camping spots on this side. All was well maintained. The there are four shower/bathrooms at the top of the camp site, a dumpster for collected trash, and marked campsites. There are spigots for drinking water spread amongst the available campsites, but they are not at every one. The Kerrville City Parks facilitators were always patrolling and attentive to our needs. This park is a beautiful city park, and worth considering for your outdoor activities.

It was always enjoyable and a mere 4 miles from my home. But then I was seduced. Yes, Gentle Reader, seduced by the Kerrville River Trail. The concrete, 10-foot-wide trails sang their siren song, beckoning me. Ah, at first I resisted but one day after a rain that would leave the Kerrville-Schreiner Park's trails muddy and inhospitable, I succumbed and became a willing prisoner of concrete bliss. Don't get me wrong, the River Trail is excellent and I'm sure that after heavy rains, I'll find myself there again for awhile. But the River Trail is undeniably an urban trail as it winds its way past roads and buildings--there is no seclusion and as the years past, a secluded spot to walk was what I desired. So, to Kerrville-Schreiner Park I returned. Things had changed. The annual pass fee had doubled to $50. Still, a pittance considering I go a minimum of three days a week. If I chose to pay by the day, a year's use would be $882! And that's allowing for the approximately three weeks in December when the park is closed because of the bow hunters culling the deer population. So, $50 is still very much a bargain. And the fee also includes access to Flat Rock Lake where fishing and boating await you. I was delighted to find that two trails had been added in my absence, the Deer Field Loop and the Teal Trail. Plus, there were add-ons to the Red and Yellow Trails. The new trails are serpentine, weaving their way back and forth through the trees. Both are narrow trails with gentle ups and downs. You will find some areas rocky but still easily navigated. And for those days when the Texas sun is relentlessly beating down, these new trails will provide ample shade, And the add-ons to the Yellow and Red Trails are very similar. So, I'm back and I could swear I heard the trees whisper, "Welcome back, Doc; we've missed you." The feeling's mutual! Whether you're a resident or visitor, consider visiting this Hill Country gem. The trees just might talk to you, too.
