My husband and I went to LeRoy's Tex Mex BBQ for lunch while in the area. We parked, and walked to the restaurant. The parking lot isn't paved but we didn't have any issues. We walked around on the grounds and noticed that there is a separate patio and a bathroom with seating outside. The women's bathroom was clean. Now to the restaurant. We walked in the restaurant and it wasn't very big. You could see the menu on the wall, the ordering counter was close, the food pickup counter was next to the ordering counter, the seating was in the middle, and the bar at the other end. After walking in and checking out the menu we walked up to the ordering counter. The person that took our order was friendly and patient with me. I wanted the El Burger that was listed on the menu but I didn't notice that it's only available on Wednesdays. The person told me that so I checked the menu out again to see what burger I wanted. I decided on LeRoy's Smash Burger which comes with smashed brisket patties, pickles, bacon & onion jam. I ordered mine without cheese. It came with a choice of a side so my husband and I picked the potato salad to share. I also wanted to try the Smoked Pork Belly Menudo which substitutes the traditional tripe meat with smoked pork belly. This came with onions, cilantro, and chopped jalapenos that you could add if you wanted. My husband and I decided to share LeRoy's Nachos which has tortilla chips covered in beans, queso, avacado, pico, crema, salsa, BBQ sauce and jalapenos. These come with your choice of meat and we decided on brisket. My husband ordered one taco to try called Chancho La Panza which comes with pork belly, beans, cilantro, and queso fresco. The Food. LeRoy's Smash Burger was delicious. I liked the flavor of the meat and the jam. The potato salad had a mustard flavor to it which I didn't mind. The Nachos were tasty. The BBQ sauce in them gave them a hint of sweetness in the midst of all of the saltier ingredients. The Menudo was spicy. I wasn't expecting it to be so hot but it was tolerable. The smoked pork belly mixed in the soup was good. There was also a crunchy texture mixed in that added to the experience. I tried my husband's pork taco and it was delightful. There was so much flavor packed into a single taco. Overall the experience was positive. The restaurant was small but comfortable, the service was good and the food was fresh and delicious. read more

I'm calling this place Bruce Leroy's cause they are kicking arse! If you park in the back be careful. I learned the hard way, the first door you encounter is actually the kitchen door. I walked in and saw the cook. He saw my embarrassment and said "hey come on in I've got some dishes for ya" lol! This spot is next to a field with all types of goodies like pumpkins, squash, okra , etc and behind a cute little shop so it can be confusing. But I'm here for it and ready to be part of the crew since I'm already on dish duty ha! I ended up doing the brisket tacos (the Limp Brisket tacos,love the name.) These are so tender and a must if you are out this way. The assortment on wines was spectacular. The prices were very reasonable. The bartender was a lady who made me laugh so hard I was crying. This place is amazing! We have driven by countless times but didn't even know it was there. The food is so delicious. Do not skip the award winning queso! The tacos are large. One was plenty for me. I had the carnitas and it melted in my mouth! The smoke flavor was excellent. Our friends had the street tacos (three different kinds) and the bean bowl. Both were incredible. This spot was hidden behind Jenschke Orchards and was a great find on our way into Fredericksburg! You can tell this spot is a regular visit for people who frequent Fredericksburg or stop by the peach stand. The nachos and the burger were both delicious! At first I was skeptical of a bbq joint outside of Austin but I was so hungry after the 1.5 hour drive to get to Fredericksburg that I was willing to give it a shot. I'd have to say it's one of the best bbq places I've been to in a while. I dare say even better than most bbq places in Austin. It's an order at the counter and pick up the food yourself type of place. They had a pretty extensive menu but I opted for the limp brisket taco and the elote with brisket. The brisket taco was amazing!!! The meat here was just so well prepared. Even the beef fajita taco that my friend got was amazing. For the price of $6 per taco, it was pretty decently priced. OH MY GOD. We DREAM of this food from this place. We were in the area and starving, without having lunch planned anywhere else we decided to stop at Leroy's since it was close by and had good reviews. It was a hot day so we stayed inside to eat - but I'm sure on a cooler night its nice to sit outside. As this is a BBQ and tex-mex joint the brisket is where it's at. It's so perfectly tender on both the BBQ sandwich and on the tacos. We shared an order of chips with queso which was the perfect thickness. I got a brisket taco, and my husband got a brisket sandwich with a side of elotes (with hot cheeto dust) and potato salad. There was not one bad thing that we tried. We had the brisket, pork belly, and carnitas tacos along with the elote. I like Mexican street corn so I'll order it if it's on the menu. All of it was tasty, but I guess I missed out on the most popular item... Leroy's nachos. I'll save that for next time. I think this place is geared more towards families as it has a lot of open space, swings, corn hole and even an item on the menu for dogs. Great brisket taco without the cumin seasoning. Then saw they had mezcal and as I am always in search of the perfect spicy mezcal margarita I tried one. I was a passenger, so one turned into two. Puréed jalapeños gave it a little heat with a tajin rim. Perfecto! The staff were pleasant and attentive as needed. Casual and quaint atmosphere. My husband and I split the full order which was plenty really, but honestly, if we were both super starving we could have each probably demolished at least 3/4 if not all of the full order on our own.
