I wasn't sure what to expect out of this place, but since I moved to town about a month ago people have been telling me to go. I decided to try it when my family came to town, and it was awesome! Customer service was terrible. The lady who took my name put something not even close to my name down. So, when they called that name, I didn't respond. The girl taking the food out found me and then hatefully chastised me and plopped the tray down, gritting her teeth at me because I DIDNT ANSWER TO THE WRONG NAME! The food...oh, dear lord. I was looking forward to eating at their new location. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and I have to say I was totally disappointed! I wanted to like it so much. My husband ordered chicken strips and fries, I ordered the jumbo corndog with onion rings, and we wanted to try the cheese sticks. Everything that we got had a burnt flavor to it. My corn dog was a bit soggy and no crispiness to it at all. The onion rings were decent at best. I have to say the cheese sticks or just OK. My husband's chicken strips were crispy, but as I said, had a burnt flavor! I think they just needed to change their oil that they were frying in. Whatever the problem was has made me reluctant to try them again. The people behind the counter, taking the orders for friendly and the restaurant looked clean, but the food was a total letdown! I also got a peanut butter cookie that tasted homemade and was actually the best thing I had. A old Jonesboro institution that changed hands recently. Famous for steamed sandwiches and their epic cheese sticks. I think the new owners are trying to cut costs and getting meats of lesser quality -- the corned beef for my Reuben was stringy and a bit fatty. The cheese sticks and marina are as good as ever. I think they dust them with crack? Will always go when I'm town -- it will always remind me of my old college days. read more

Decided to give the "new" Munchys a try today. Placed my order at 11:36 (per the receipt). I ordered a corn dog, cheese on a stick, and a funnel cake (I suppose I wanted to have a heart attack). Then the wait began. At 30 minutes I inquired about if my food would soon be ready and was told they were "backed up" and it would be a few more minutes. At 42 minutes I asked again and they said they would work on it right then. THEY HAD NOT STARTED MY ORDER! Total wait time was 54 minutes. There were other people who also were there waiting well over 30 minutes. Some people had to leave because their lunch break was over. On one occasion I heard the single cashier ask for someone else to help take order because the line was out the door. The manager told her people would just have to wait. At another point I over heard another customer ask the manager about his food because he had been waiting half an hour and the manager said "we are 19 tickets behind and we will get to it". Needless to say I would not recommend this place. It's a shame too because I have fond memories of the "old" munchies from years ago. I understand that places get slammed and sometimes fall behind but 54 minutes for a corn dog Is excessive. Additionally, after waiting that long a discount or at least an apology would have been nice. read more

If Yelp allowed 0 stars that's what I'd give Munchy's. It's unfortunate too. While it's been 25 years since I lived in Jonesboro I grew up here and Munchy's has always been an institution. So when my wife, daughter, and me decided to visit Jonesboro Munchy's was at the top of the list. And wow, all that can really be said is that this isn't the Munchy's I grew up loving. The place is filthy, sandwiches bland and boring, and once mighty cheese sticks now frozen flash fried truck stop quality. Actually, today's truck stops probably provide tastier treats. The staff actually looked like they were apologizing to us with their eyes. Bottom line, with all the growth Jonesboro is going through and restaurant choices available now their is zero reason to go to Munchy's. Sad to say. read more

I had never been before so this would have been my first meal. I ordered the French dip because I wanted to try the au jus and it was spectacular. The sandwich was steamed, the cheese was melted and the mayo was just to the right amount. Because the sandwich was steamed, the au jus did not soak the break when dipped; it complimented the flavors of the roast beef. I would, however, suggest adding mushrooms to the sandwich. I used to work here years ago, but the new owners have increased the prices so much that I will NEVER be back. A small sandwich and a small order of cheese sticks (3 sticks for $3--are you kidding me?) which left me hungry cost almost $10. That's ludicrous. I can't believe how anyone could think that $1 a piece for cold cheese sticks is acceptable. What a major disappointment. This was so sad that I am literally writing this during my meal. Instruction manual on how to make a Munchy's Sandwich: 1. Go to Wal-Mart 2. By the cheapest budget pack of lunch meat, and the lowest quality of cheese. 3. By a 1.50 loaf of stale bread. There you have a sandwich that possibly surpasses the quality of Munchy's. I don't understand the appeal of this place. Its horrible, low quality sandwiches that are surpassed by every place in town that makes a sandwich. And their vaunted cheese sticks have all the appeal of 8 hour old gas station cheese sticks. I grew up going to Munchys from my hometown of Kennett MO. Loved their sandwiches back then, but unfortunately I think they are still slicing from the same hunk of beef that I got 30 years ago. I should have known things changed after I first arrived. As I was walking in I tripped over their transom and face planted on their floor. The 2 workers just stared at me, waiting for me to get up and order. Luckily a nice man in a nearby booth came over and assisted me. Anyway, ordered the corned beef and I should have stayed on the floor. I could have eaten my shoe and saved $10. Plus it's served on white bread that could break a tooth if you don't eat it immediately. Once it cools 2 degrees it's as tough as the meat. Sorry but I'll fall down in a different deli next time. I have been going to Munchy's for many years, back when two sandwiches, hot sticks and drinks cost twelve dollars. Went there today, the same meal cost thirty-two dollars. The three girls cooking were more interested in laughing and talking to each other to actually do much work. The floor was filthy and the dining room was freezing. So cold that one of the girls in the kitchen was wearing a flannel shirt over her t-shirt. Too bad, I actually liked the place but it is just not worth it because we have many more sandwich and sub shops in town that are better and not so expensive. Just went in Munchies for lunch and walked back out almost immediately. I have not ate here in years and my boyfriend never has and now we never will!
