I just got off from work as graveyard security. I do my laundry at work(apartment). I felt Asian hate crime and social profiling. Using her job to have power to refuse to open the door. Unprofessional woman to not open the first door. I have to ran to the back door and I paid to get in!!! It's too early in morning to get upset and unhappy while inside the bus. 27 Bryant gets 4 stars for its frequency. It takes me between Nob Hill and the Mission District. Overall, it's a very good route. This is because it's not always super busy. FYI: This route has stops across the street from Costco - convenience indeed. It also stops on Bryant at 22nd St and 23rd St, making a convenient access to San Francisco General Hospital. read more

This is by far the worst muni line I have ever taken. There are bums on this bus all the time. It also makes all these annoying turns. I can get off at 4 stops and pretty much walk the same amount to get home. There are fights on this bus all the time and sometimes it run so freaking slow! So my friend tells me that she gets on the MUNI and says the driver, "I'm working with nothing." He says to her, "OK, but next time you gotta pay" and lets her ride. If I could give this bus zero stars I happily would! It's not so much the people as it is the actual bus and it's route. What is the point of stopping at EVERY SINGLE BLOCK when going up leavenworth? I walk usually because hills = stellar ass, and I was block for block with this thing, and by the time I got home was 2 blocks ahead of it! Unfortunately every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday I have to take this bus, because it's the only one that will take me to SF General Hospital. Picking it up in the morning isn't so bad, as long as it truly comes on time. However riding home in the afternoon is a NIGHTMARE. When I get to the stop I check 3 things.. next muni, google maps, and the sign at the stop. They all tell me different things. If you're taking this bus towards downtown, I'd suggest grabbing it early in its route for the best chance to get a seat. Don't even bother taking it from Cyril Magnin back up, especially in the evenings. You're better off climbing straight up Taylor on your hands and knees than dealing with the ALWAYS crowded and slow buses on their way back from the Mission. read more

Oh dear god, how I hate the 27! From the dude masturbating in the back of the bus to the ladies at the front with their 4,000 shopping bags, this bus is loaded with characters... and I don't mean characters in a good sense. This bus is also consistently the most off schedule of any bus I ever take. The last time I was waiting for it, the sign said "next bus, 10 minutes" which was then subsequently updated to 20 minutes and then 41 minutes. WTF 27 line?! I just want to get home before I'm old and gray! It says a lot that I am willing to walk 3 miles with several heavy bags to avoid taking this bus. read more

It's hard to give any MUNI line a good review with the way things have been going with them lately and the 27 unfortunately is no exception. Infrequent bus service, crowded busses and of course ghetto kids writing all over the place with shoe polish etc. With fares going up you'd expect service to get better but as has been the case with the rest of our great public transit system, that just isn't the case. read more

The 27-Bryant is an unassuming bus line that gets you from the Mission to Nob Hill and vice versa. Although it's a crosstown line, it's not as crazy as the 14-Mission or the 9-San Bruno. When you ride it, it feels like you're on a neighborhood circulator rather than a bus that's connecting vastly different parts of the city. I usually catch it at 21st and Bryant and take it to Market Street. It can get crowded at spots, but I've found that it generally runs pretty often. You're also likely to be riding one of the new hybrid buses on this line, and they're still pretty clean. If you're in the eastern part of the Mission and are looking for an alternative to the 9 to get downtown, try the 27. read more

But whenever you want to go in one direction I always end up seeing three buses going in the opposite direction. BULLSHIT! This bus never come when you want it. You'll be standing there, and standing there, and watching buses go in the other direction. It isn't until you've decided to just walk to you destination that your bus will show up, but by that point in time you'll be too far away from the bus stop, and end up sprinting two blocks to get the bus at the next stop.... Not to mention it's always packed. read more

This line zig-zags you through the city, it's pretty convenient, and prime time for people watching. Like John S. said, it can get pretty crowded at times....but hey, that's public transport isn't it? It's an easy way to get up to Nob Hill from SOMA, however, the cable car will get you Nob Hill from Market just as well....just depends on what kind of scenery you want- tourists or tenderloin. In addition, if you're heading from SOMA half way through the trip it stops a block from Cala Foods on California (when crossing Leavenworth)...which is pretty convenient if you're trying to multi task and get some grub or brews on the way home. You have to get points for that one. read more

You know how on a Sunday, you assume the bus will be extra fast because no one has to be anywhere? Not the 27! Going down from Nob Hill, it stops at every single block picking up random idiots who go three blocks. It's downhill, you jerks! Why do all of these stupid buses have to stop at every block!? That's why no one wants to take the bus. Also, it comes less frequently than any other line in the area. I've only taken the 27 a few times but to no avail there were no fights, no shopping bag count, and definitely no masturbation. Boo! This bus route goes right by our house and straight to where my husband works. They have some new buses that are cleaner and never crowded on our end of town in the mission. It's perfect! -- Except that it never comes when it's supposed to. Not sure what's going on there but all the transportation apps say it's 3 minutes away, 2 minutes, one minute and theeeeen it's 30 minutes away. Sometimes I wonder if there is a ghost bus on this route that my app is tracking. read more

This is the only bus I can take to get home from Folsom to O'farrell but this but is constantly late, ALWAYS crowded as hell with rude people, drunks, crackheads and what not. I've been yelled at, punched in the face and pushed back and forth by impatient people who can't seem to say "excuse me". And really, why do they use such a small bus instead of a double-bus for this line? There are often 2 or 3 wheelchair passengers that they will cram onto a bus which can take up half the bus and it packs the rest of it like a sardine can! This is not the experience I want to have after a hard day's work. Sometimes I rather just pay $10 to get home by taxi than have to deal with the drama of this bus. read more

This bus is awesome because it stops right in front of my apartment and takes me right in front of my friend's house, it's almost like door to door service. Sometimes it takes awhile, and it doesn't run that often at night, but I appreciate the convenience. read more

I can walk down to Market & 5th in less time than it takes for the 27 to take me there, but it's still worth riding if you don't wanna be all flustered for the occasional downtown shopping. The zig zag through Nob Hill, Tenderloin and Union Square districts is always a little entertaining and I like that it also goes all the way down to the Mission, just a couple blocks away from JCX Expendables. read more

This bus is horrible. Every time I take the 27 something bad happens. I have been flashed, groped, screamed at. I have seen someone smoking crack on this bus. not the worst, but certainly not the best. i'm on the bus by 7am heading towards the mission so I don't really experience the crowds or the totally weird happenings. Although i DO hate that it snakes through the the Tenderloin. It just seems inefficient! It does take a lot less time though to get to SOMA than the 10, 30, or 45, which is nice. I prefer the 10 though because it generally has better looking passengers.. hehe read more

This bus is consistently the most entertaining bus ride out there. There never fails to be at least one crazy person picked up between Nob Hill and Union Square. From the crazy black guy riding around town with a giant painting and singing about Jesus and laughing to himself, to the Chinese ladies playing musical bus seats as if one bus seat is better than the other and holds some secret prize(see review of the 1). And yes, it can get quite sketchy riding through the Tenderloin; but how else is a girl supposed to get to SF's shopping mecca without walking up the steepest hills in the city?? I swear one time the bus driver was even scared, hurrying people on the bus and driving away from each stop as quick as possible so the crazy guy running down the street and yelling for the bus to wait for him or else couldn't get on. Gotta love it for its pure entertainment value. And it never seems crowded the times I ride it, despite expecting a 20 minute wait at the Market St. stop and getting on with 15 other people. read more

One of the worst bus lines in the city. Numerous times there is a '27' missing, 311 has the wrong information and the drivers are, for the most part, rude, unhelpful and ignorant - as are a lot of drivers that work for MUNI. My experience today. Got to the bus stop just after 2:00pm and waited and waited. Called 311 at 2:17pm and was told there would be one at my stop in six minutes. Six minutes came and went and no sign of the 27. Called 311 again and was told that the bus I had been waiting for was now at Bush and Leavenworth (outbound) so I must have 'missed' it. Hard to do when I had been sitting on a bench at the bus stop the whole time. Other people waiting too. Told the operator he was wrong and that I had seen the bus go towards Van Ness and Jackson but it had still not come around the corner to Washington & Polk. He kindly gave me the 'run #' of the bus that should have arrived at 2:23pm and the # of the one that was going to now turn up in about 13 minutes. When the next 27 finally arrived, it had a different 'run #' on the front of the bus! The driver told me that the bus in front of him was missing! I called back 311 and asked why they had none of this information when I called earlier and why the run #' did not correspond with the bus I was now on? They told me that the only bus missing had been the 2:00pm. So, that meant that there was a 40 minute wait for a bus because the 2:00pm was missing and so too was the 2:23pm bus! The 311 GPS is inaccurate on many occasions and this line is notorious for 'missing' buses. Where the hell do they go? 311 is supposed to provide a public service but what good is it when it is not accurate? One operator told me recently that 311 was just an estimation of bus arrivals and departures and not meant to be accurate. With MUNI that sounds just about right - they are USELESS..... read more
