The MB shuttle is FREE. Can I get an AMEN? Today was the first day and I took full advantage of it. There are several stops around the Mission Bay Area including UCSF, Berry Street, Walgreens, and Cal-Train. The Shuttle begins and ends at the Powell Street Bart Station (stop is by Walgreens on Market). Shuttle runs every 15 min - half an hour or so. You can find their schedule on-line. Basically it runs M-F from 7-10:30am & 3:45-8pm. Perfect for work schedules! Shuttle is very spacious with A/C and Comfy Padded Seats. It took me less time to get to Downtown than it was riding on Muni - obviously there are less stops. It is still fairly new so there are no permanent Mission Bay Shuttle Signs posted. There are just temporary ones or none at all, so I highly recommend downloading a PDF of their schedule and route. I am so thankful for this. It totally beats unreliable MUNI. Now, Baseball season and backed up trains, stuck trains underground, and MUNI fights are a thing of the past. Did I mention that it is FREE?

The accuracy of times and reliability have completely plummeted, and this is no longer a good service. I realize that the service is free so you can't really complain, but I just want to note my experience and say to not waste your time. You're much better off paying for another service than using this one. Route and Stop Changes - Caltrain to Powell stop has moved from in front of Walgreens to across the street in between 4th and 5th. - Powell stop has moved from in front of the Michael Kors store on Market St. to in front of Bloomingdale's on Mission St. Times The shuttles just don't come on time anymore. Also, the NextBus app is not tracking the times accurately either. There have been multiple times when the app said the shuttle is 2 minutes away, and the shuttle ended up coming 5-10 minutes later or sometimes not at all (I waited at least 10 more minutes before completely giving up). This combined with the new stops where I have to go more out of my way makes for a huge inconvenience when the shuttle doesn't show up, and I have to completely change my plans. The one time that the shuttle did show up (almost 10 minutes late), the driver did not pull up to the sidewalk. He stayed in the most left lane on Townsend and expected me to cross the bike lane and right lane to get to him during rush hour! WTF. After stupidly trying and almost getting hit by bikers, I went back to the sidewalk to see if he would move back over to the right lane. He didn't even make an attempt, so I walked away and headed to the Muni bus instead. This whole experience made me furious at the poor service and safety standards of the shuttle service now.

This bus runs through the projects to San Bruno. I almost got robbed like 3 times. Luckily I sat next to some old rough looking chinese ladies. Especially if the buses are crossing areas with heavy traffic like 16th & Mission St. It's understandable that it'll a couple of minutes late in that situation. I just wish they would install the timers at all of the bus stops so that those without internet access on their phones can know when the next bus is coming too. Edit: 3/20 Case in point. Last night at around 8pm I was waiting for a 22 at Fillmore & Jackson. Nextbus said the NextBus would arrive in 34 minutes. So I took the 24 down to Geary and took the next 38 which arrived in 1 minute. I took it all the way down to Van Ness and noticed that the next 49 was coming in 53 minutes. The 47 was there and I checked NextBus for upcoming J car (in 8 minutes) and I was able to catch the train and get home. So in a sense, a knowledge of where the lines go together with NextBus allows me to plan alternate routes if a bus I rely on is late. It's better than the old days of just waiting and waiting there.

Please be ready to board this bus with exact change or a loaded Clipper Card. This is my only advice when getting on a route like the 30X. This route may be busy, but the ride is well worth it. With this route also inching through rush hour traffic, it certainly will not be any faster. Unlike the regular 30, buses are always clean especially when it operates this route. I certainly admit to that because we all want a nice clean ride. I know what some of you are thinking of. Yes, this route is operated on 60' buses. So there is no need to feel worried about crowded buses. If you are looking for a faster way to get between Financial District and Marina District, 30X Marina Express is the solution. I do want to add how one reviewer brought up a very good point. It would be nice if this route had additional service to and from Marina/Financial Districts. Overall, I like this route for the fact of clean buses and polite passengers. Advantages: - last bus out of the financial district is 7pm** - this route uses 60' buses - once again, clean buses* *Just really loving this part. **Monday - Friday -- Part of this is because some people get off work a little after 6pm. -- People complained that 40' buses are not very accommodating. -- Yes, more seating and standing room available since this route is operating on 60' buses. Most of the time, bus drivers on this route know what they are doing. They are very sweet and some of them live along the route of where the bus goes. I needed more time to get to Golden Gate Park and this bus gets there in lesser time than the regular line. For students who are looking to transfer from SFSU bus lines and go to downtown SF, this bus takes the cake. For tourists this is a blessing for locals this is a diamond. I am not from SF but was lucky to get on.

The "L" after the number is written like an exponent so it may be hard to see. This is the same thing we will see on the bus signs for the 9L, 14L, 28L, 38L, & 71L. Once again, props to MUNI for opening this route. It is a lifesaver for me and other passengers.

I personally do not like the 38 Geary bus because it's not very clean, the trip takes about 40-45 minutes and seem to always be crowded. My prayers were answered when I found out from sfmuni.com that I can take 38AX to work every morning. The bus is filled with working professionals and not very crowded considering it's not a double bus. My morning commute from point A (33rd Ave) to B (Montgomery/Bush) only takes 20-25 minutes because after stopping at 25th Avenue, the bus cruises down Geary, turns left of Masonic and right on Bush and doesn't stop until my final destination. The 38AX is so quick and convenient that I wished it ran more often than just during rush hours. The best part about 38AX is that you can sit in the front seats and do not have to worry about giving up your seat to seniors and persons with disability. I would never take the regular 38 bus or 38L when I have a choice of taking the 38AX :-)! If you do end up standing up because of no empty seat, make sure to hold on tight because the bus speeds down Bush street and breaks abruptly at times.
