I took a major cheat meal from my 2018 vegetarian lifestyle and ordered the crispy porkskin. It could've last me three meals and definitely brought on some teasing from my colleagues for ordering such a massive plate. The bier, the food, outdoor seating in the middle of The Rocks, proximity to my hotel in the CBD... its hard to pin down exactly what makes Brahaus such a great spot but I recommend it for a lively night out with friends or colleagues. Went on a Tuesday night and this restaurant was quite full, thus, the slightly slow service. Waiters and waitresses were friendly though. Food was delicious and they had massive portions. We ordered a platter for 2 for $79 which could actually feed 3 to 4 people. The mango beer was also nice! The restaurant atmosphere is fun and relaxed. I think they always have music and games every night where the customers can join in. If you win in the game, you get a pretzel! Only downside is the prices because they were expensive! They are located in a very touristy spot. It was a good experience overall! This place would be more suitable for groups if you just want to relax and have fun for the night. read more

Visiting Sydney on business from New York and decided to stop in here for a solo dinner on a Tuesday night. Seated right away but then after waiting for a bit. I flagged one of the servers down and asked if I could have a menu. Got that but then waited some more to place my order. Ordered the Spanish Brat, red cabbage and green beans. The main course portion was fine but the sides were barely there. Despite that, the food itself was excellent but oh man... the service here is pretty horrible. In fact right now, I'm writing my review waiting for a second beer I ordered a good 10 minutes ago. Did they send someone out to get it from another bar? Did it get lost? It doesn't take that long to pour a pint. Well, at least it gave me some time to write up this review. I will give them barely 3 stars for decent tasty food, but don't think I will come back here on future business trips because the service is pretty bad. read more

After sitting down and ordering a beer, we realized this is a chain restaurant (same as Beerhaus and The Bavarian). We ordered a giant pretzel to start, that was super overpriced and nothing special. Our family also ordered a salad, fish & chips, chicken schnitzel and chicken tenders. The salad was fresh but the rest did not wow us. Last time I came here this place was called Lowenbrau Keller but it's the same place essentially. For German food and dining entertainment all in one night, this is the best Sydney has to offer. It gets very busy, very rowdy and very boisterous especially after a few steins. Fantastic for groups and not ideal for a quiet romantic night out, we've gone here on several occasions still. Located in a classic German style basement or "keller" you could say this restaurant has all the hallmarks for a traditional loud Deutsche night out. I would recommend the dinner time for big group celebrations but be prepared to drown out others diners doing the same thing. The food is well cooked, prepared and traditional. You'll find all the German/Bavarian classics including some slightly non-German food for the unadventurous types. The waiters/waitresses all wear the proper German costume for that extra German flair. There's a stage for the musical entertainment, which warps into games and competitions halfway through dinner for the drunk-enough types to participate. The alcohol does not disappoint, they have many various German beers (specifically Bavarian) on tap (including flavorsome beers) and wines available. Including schnapps if you're up for it. You should definitely try at least one of their beers if nothing else. I have enjoyed most nights eating here, they do actually have a tucked away area for a more "quieter" experience but it's the ambiance that makes it enjoyable for most. For my favourite go-to German restaurant especially for newbies, this is the best choice. read more

We had a date night here... mood was nice and vibrant, food was good and the schnapps selection is so much fun (esp when they deliver with a cowbell and paddle!) I'm a vegetarian - I didn't have a huge range of options but I wouldn't really expect to at a German restaurant! My pasta and salad were good but nothing to write home about. My husband is a super keen meat eater and ordered a MASSIVE plate of food (meant for two)... he left with a bit of a belly ache but had a great time trying to get all the yummy food in his belly. We ordered a few rounds of schnapps and were a little sheepish when each round was announced with the cow bell... but then the schnapps cured us of that! Drink up! Eat up! read more

We stopped by here for an early dinner after a day of bike riding. The food smelled delicious and the menu had a variety so we decided to give it a try even though the prices were steep. We ordered pretzels, Mac and cheese balls and wings that were on special for happy hour. The food was nothing short of underwhelming. The wings were barely warm and the sauce was missing on many parts. The sauce wasn't good at all and the "blue cheese" dipping sauce was mayo. Also, for US visitors, they had no idea what ranch dressing was FYI. The pretzel was tiny which was surprising since this is a German bar. I was expecting a somewhat large pretzel but it was about the size of a small plate. The mac and cheese balls were pretty good as was the beer. I really love this place, the Lowenbrau...wait a minute. My bad, the Munich Brauhaus is where you go to eat good German food and great German beer. Granted you might have to mortgage the house to pay the bill but its worth it. It was a cold Thursday night. The place was packed. We waited in line for about ten minutes to get a table, but the bouncer was nice and we had a pleasant conversation. We were seated outside and the gas heaters were not overly effective. However that doesn't matter when you have a good dark German beer to drink. Oh, you ran out of dark German beer? Really? You... ran... out? So I got just some plan old amber whatever. Still good. A litre of beer is still a litre of beer. Chicken schnitzel that is larger than your face, mashed potato so creamy that several cows were required to make it, and mushroom sauce is a must. A MUST I tell you! Came with a huge slice of lemon, not my think so I threw it away - literally. The mushroom sauce portion was tiny for so much chicken schnitzel, and was the same consistence as that glue you get in the 1st grade - however lots of delicious flavour. But that mashed potato, I lay in bed at night for hours on end thinking about how great it was. We ate until we almost burst, our wallets on the other hand was so thin after paying the bill. We grabbed a seat outside to people watch. We waited about 15 minutes (with 2 kids, that's a long time) without anyone even greeting us, except the nice people sitting next to us. Which is strange because there were tons of staff buzzing around. Anyway, finally went to the bar to get some drinks. Bartender was more interested in chatting, than serving drinks, so waited another 10 minutes. I then ordered the draught Pale Ale. Out. I then ordered a bottle of the craft beer. Out. So, I settled for a Jack. Pretty pathetic for a german beer hall to be out of B-E-E-R. The only reason why I gave it one star is because they had free face painting for the kids. A friend invited us to visit this place, I think their happy hour, 4-6pm has more reasonable prices than their menu offers outside of happy hour. It's fun and loud and completely German themed from top to bottom. The meat platter is worth trying if it's your first time. But please order a plate for 2 persons and actually share it with 3 or 4 people. We ordered the platter for 2 people and the two of us were probably trying to eat so much more meat than we preferred. We ate here for lunch on a miserable grey and rainy Sydney day. We were in need of some hearty comfort food - and the Munich Brauhaus delivered. The beer service was a bit lacking - both of the first two beers my husband ordered were unavailable. He went with the staff recommendation and it arrived in a very small glass. When he reordered the same drink it came in a bigger glass. It was the Spaten. My Mum had the roasted pork roll with crackling - which she said was nice. However the chips were cold. My husband I shared the Munich Brewers Platter for two - which was amazing. I enjoyed all of the sausages, the pork belly and the pork knuckle was just to die for! By the time we got to the schnitzels they were a bit cold and dry. We ended up taking them both, and the rest of the leftovers, home. I have been to Germany four times. It was very reminiscent of what I had in Munich, at the Hofbrauhaus. However, the service is a little on the cold and unfriendly side. read more

I was in Sydney for a few days and didn't know what I was in the mood for until I saw on an overpass entering The Rocks this " Biergarten " and figured since the Wursthaus in Cambridge, Mass had closed, it had been ages since I had been to a good German restaurant. The food here wasn't good. It was UNBELIEVABLE!! I had the chicken schnitzel and the meal they gave me could have fed three people. It was a sin that I was flying home the next day and had no way of keeping it cold or heating it up because I kept on asking myself where this place had been all of my life. I will assume my experience isn't the norm but wow what a bad lunch experience. We went here for a German coworker's going away cause #ThemedRestaurants. We arrived just after 12pm and our food didn't come until about 1:30pm. We were with a big group so our order didn't get made. I asked a server to look into it and she never came back. I went in to tell the manager who was apologetic and got the kitchen to make a new one. My coworker is gluten free and we were sharing because the schnitzels are huge and a $27 lunch was a bit much for our wallets to digest. The schnitzel came out with a gluten free crumb and what felt like raw bits of rice. It actually hurt to chew them and they were all throughout so we couldn't eat around, there was almost no flavour so we added mustard. I ended up having some of my coworker's burger which was actually really good because I just couldn't eat my shitty schnitty. Luckily, I was able to push a meeting back because our food took so damn long! read more

Came here with a colleague whilst we were on lunch break so we only had an hour. The waiter came over and took our drink and food order and i'm guessing he thought he had a superb memory as he did not write down the order, which turned out to be a problem. 15 minutes later (which is a reasonable amount of time to wait for freshly cooked food) the waiter returned with two hot dogs for us, one of which was not what was ordered so that one was taken back and we received an apology and an assurance that the correct hot dog would be right out. To cut a long story short, I waited 30 minutes in total for a hot dog. When the bill came the hotdog that came to the table which we had not ordered was still on there along with a $10 discount, I alerted the waitress to the fact that we had not ordered the 3rd hotdog and i was told that in fact the $10 discount was to offset this error. After explaining that i had been waiting half an hour for my meal she applied a further $10 discount to compensate for this. Overall i would say the customer service leaves a lot to be desired and if you visit, make sure the waiter/waitress writes down your order! read more

The staff at the bar are very rude & when I ordered drinks she grabbed my card & tapped it without asking & I was trying to tell her don't tap coz it's on savings, then she refused to give me an itemised receipt & when finally someone else did I noticed that a scotch whiskey with coke was over $11 & just a plain coke was $8, plus because she tapped it she also charged me a credit card surcharge. Ok, so I got talked into going here again. We were scolded for not having a reservation, but then told we could have a table for 90 minutes. After being seated, we were ignored for 15 minutes. We finally walked up to a waitress and asked if we could get some drinks. Again we were scolded and told someone would be right with us. A few minutes later, the same waitress came over to the table next to us and took their order (they arrived after us). We finally were served. Same bland food and one of our orders was not correct. A manger came over and said this is what the ticket showed, we must have ordered wrong. I will not make the mistake of coming here again. If their happy hour were all day, this would be the joint. From 4-6 pm you can order a 500ml from their craft beer selection for 5$. It really doesn't get any better than that. Visited on a Wednesday night and was seated in the outside covered seating. Took a few minutes to get a waiter to take our order, but when he did the servers were prompt and friendly. Food was really good and I recommend the sausage sampler. My wife and I split it and it was a perfect size and very flavorful. However, the great food was offset at the lack of attention. Took me 5 minutes to ask someone for a beer, and another 5 to actually get it. I signaled to our waiter and he responded and then went the other way! Wanted to get a dessert, but could not get anyone to come to our table. Finally a waitress showed up and I just asked for our check, which was the only thing that was prompt! We ordered a "large" chips for a whopping $9.50. For that price I was expecting a bowl the table could share. It was barely enough for one person. If you had a small group with you, you could easily spend 50 bucks just on chips. The Salmon was disgustingly overpriced. $28 for a tiny 200g of salmon and some tasteless Kohirabi slaw on the side. Service is non existent. We waited forever to get a menu. Finally I asked a waitress for one. She gave me a glare then brought one over. She never returned!! Finally my husband sought out the manager. Maybe we aren't hip enough? .... Not sure the reason. The manager apologized profusely. He took our beer order & said he would bring us some pretzels to tide us over. Came here on a warm Friday night and enjoyed their casual outdoor bench style seating in with friends. I Had their Munich Brewers platter (minimum order required two people, $39 per person which sounds pricey to me at first, but it's a lot of food and was sooooooo fun to share with our friends so we were happy we ordered it in the end) and loved it!!!!!!!! Omg that's why I decided to give them a great review to say thanks for the yummy food and happy environment. Platter had Lots of food and tasty meat and sauce and variety. The pork with the pork crackling (skin) was crunchy and perfectly cooked (my fav of the night), served with really flavorful sauce and bbq pork which was sooooooo yum, schnitzel, plain sausages, some sides, and more. This also came with some plain sausages (hot dogs) which I didn't care for but that's ok cuz the rest of the platter came with sooooo much other tasty meats , very fun to share. If the restaurant owner is reading this review, I'd like to request for them to replace the hot dog sausage in this platter with the Spanish sausages or something with more flavor......that'd be great cuz the Spanish sausages were amazing.....that would make for the perfect platter . Looking forward to coming back here for this platter. We were a party of five and we all enjoyed the food and outdoor seating area.
