Parking is non issue. Theres a cute park along the way, artwork... even zip lining. I loved watching the kayaks in the water. Alan Jackson I remember when Alan released this song in '93 and (having never visited the South to that point) I wondered if he invented some magical river called the "Chattahoochee" because it made for such a catchy guide vocal. Now that we've seen some of what Alan was singing about while on the "Chattahoochee River Walk" in Columbus, Georgia, it makes me wonder if the lyrics to his song could actually be semi-autobiographical. ‍ This trail runs parallel to the river and offers a consistent connection to it during your adventure. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome here and from a safety standpoint I'd assign it a perfect score during daylight hours. Those with mobility challenges should not be dissuaded from enjoying it because it is well maintained, mostly flat, and easily accommodates wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc. While I typically elect to run most of the trails that we review, I quite enjoyed causally meandering along this one. We've been getting out on it for our double digit runs. It's exudes peace, calm, tranquil, and serene vibes. It's paved, clean, safe, well lit and although not crowded you aren't often far from your next walker, runner, cyclist, four legged friend or stroller. It's the perfect place to get in uninterrupted mileage with stunning views of the river as it flows from rapids to a glistening still. There's plenty of shaded areas as well as exposed. It feels like a very gradual train to the terrain as its essentially flat but has a few bumps here and there to keep the legs feeling their best. If an active lifestyle isn't your thing, it's the perfect place to take in a picnic, enjoy stillness, meditate or read your fav book from start to finish. There are miles and miles of the perfect mixture of fresh air, sunshine, shade and quietness. We run it from the Lake Oliver trail head start (out 5-6miles then turn back for an easy 10-12) but I can easily see doubling down on it if you are looking to get in 20+ miles while still being right beside the city. On and over the water you can go white water rafting, zip line from GA to AL, fly fish, take in a INF World Canoe Championships and more! The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love. I'd say this trail is perfectly named. Enjoy!

Hello Park turned out to be one of those unexpected finds that makes a stop in Tuskegee feel…read morepersonal, because I had no idea Lionel Richie had such a deep connection to the university until I stood here and read more about it. The park sits right next to his childhood home and just across from the main gates of Tuskegee University, and it feels like a genuine hometown gift rather than a celebrity vanity project, a quiet green space meant for students, visitors, and neighbors to sit, breathe, and take in the history that surrounds this campus. Richie partnered with Lowe's through their Hometowns initiative to build it, and after a long effort the park finally opened in 2024 as a community space that blends landscaping, seating, and a sense of welcome that fits perfectly with the university's character. What makes the place even more meaningful is the biography behind it, because Richie isn't just a famous name lending support from afar. He grew up here in Tuskegee, he launched his career here with The Commodores, and he graduated from Tuskegee University before becoming one of Motown's most recognizable voices. Coming back to dedicate Hello Park was his way of honoring the place where he first figured out who he wanted to be, and he has said repeatedly that he wants students to see this space as a reminder that their own dreams can start right here too, which is a pretty remarkable way to use your fame for something rooted in gratitude rather than nostalgia. A very nice bird show at Callaway Gardens This is a show put…read moreon inside Callaway Gardens. It is held next to the Virginia Hand Discovery center. There is plenty of parking at the center for visitors to the show and the center. There is a nice walkway to the amphitheater where the show is held. The area faces out onto the lake and had about 20 wooden benches (with no backs) in 3 rows with walkways between the rows. I would suggest getting there early and picking a seat out of the sun as there is very little shade. The Bird experts came out ahead of time and told the viewers that the show was about to start and then, before the birds were brought out, gave a warning to the crowd not to make any sudden movements and to keep the children from jumping or raising their hands while the birds were active in the theater. They let some birds fly back and forth from teh front to the back of the theater and at least one bird that walked around the audience so you could get a closer look. The experts did a good job of explaining about the various types and birds that were in the show and providing interesting facts about their habits, habitats, and behaviours while the show was going on. Overall, it was about 30 minutes and very informative. If you happen to be in the area, it is definitely worth seeing.

It's main features are a brick walk of paving stones engraved with the names of volunteers and donors and many are dedicated to remembered veteran family members. There is a central American flag surrounded by separate flags for each of the different branches of the US military. A polished black stone of POW-MIA "You are not forgotten" is on one of the paths and list of those from Lanett and Chambers County who lost their lices in America's conflicts.
