I noticed some one gave the park a one star so I felt compeled to write a review of the place in totality were my father, many years ago taught me how to fish. I love this park. I practically grew up here. I know all the bridges and piers and probably all of the roads that lead you to the lake. Hell I have a running tab at one of the bait shops cause the original owners kids still remember me do in to shop as a kid. I know that it's rude to come to these fishes home and kidnap them. But I love to have fish as guest right next to some yellow grits and cheesy eggs. So I apologize for that but I'm that kind of girl! Yes. I do agree that things have changed around here. There are a lot of things that I used to do in the late 80's early 90's that they just don't allow us to do anymore. But it's okay. We have to roll with the punches after we curse a little of course. There are less staff members here. Not enough trash cans. Bathrooms close foe Winter and then you can't find a port a potty. Bring a Red Cup and some baby whipes ladies. That is the best tip feom me you will ever get. Trust me on this one! But none of the changes can take away from the beauty of the place. And the fact that you get to see and touch and feel and live in the moment right here I the great State of Georgia. With that being said, what amazes me the most is that most of the people we meet on land here are from Atlanta. Maybe all the natives have their own boat. But it's a great way to meet new people! Long time friendships are made out here. It's a huge lake so be careful if you are fishing in land because some of these little roads are in Alabama and vice versa. Just double check if you only have a GA fishing license the you don't want to get caught fishing in AL. If you are on a boat however, no worries. I hope that if you are in Atlanta that you will give this place a try. It's a little over 1 hour from the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta. Depending on who is driving may 1 1/2 hours. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

My family and I went to the lake on July 4th and we had such an incredible time! There was lots of room and space between other lake goers, we enjoyed the beautiful views, loved watching the boats and jet skies drive by. We also thoroughly enjoyed swimming the lake was incredibly clean both in and outside of the lake. We drove up from Columbus and took about 50 minutes to arrive, the drive was easy no traffic and great country roads. We didn't bring our grill this time some people stated you could grill out others told us we have to use the grills already on site so unfortunately I can't say which is which on that part. Prior to entering near the lake there is a gas station and a huge Dollar General where we stopped to grab snacks and water. My recommendation is bring camping chairs, some good tunes and sun block it's a great time and we are so excited to how close the location is and how well mannered everyone there was!

A great place to swim, fish, kayak, and just enjoy nature. I've enjoyed every minute I have gotten to spend here. Great family environment.

Love this Lake. There's so many parks around it & different locations to try. We've done some hiking & kayaking. It's pretty clean & quiet.

DO NOT STAY IN THE CABINS!!…read more Last night my wife and I swept the walls and floors of lady beetles flushing them down the toilet, since they are invasive. Around two we got to sleep. A few times we got woke up by a bite of two but most were gone or so we thought. We woke up to find the windows covered with them. We called again to ask for help and they sent down a housekeeper. After talking to a few employees we found out this has been an ongoing problem and that many people have cut their stay short. As I understand from what was said to me the management here is fully aware and wants to ignore the problem hoping it goes away instead of addressing it. This is a bad look for Alabama. If I travelled all the way here to stay in these lovely cabins and paid what we paid only to be swarmed by Asian Lady Beetles I would not recommend this beautiful park to anyone. It's not the bugs that give this a two. It's the attitude and lack of action by the management that got them that. The only reason the got a two is the cabin and park are beautiful.

The walk to Bald Rock is extremely easy, but there are areas along the boardwalk where you can step down into the woods and rocks if you like. For us, the highlight of our visit to the area was a hike to Pulpit Rock. That hike is a bit more strenuous, but still very short. I have indicated with a red dot on the map photo where this hike begins. The views are phenomenal. We actually enjoyed this hike the most. Keep your children on a leash.
