They have cabins/tv/tent spots to rent on Airbnb and reserveamerica.com. We have rented their cabins 4 years in a row now. They are gorgeous. They also have a small country store with supplies if you forget something if you rent the cabins and shirts and souvenirs to buy as well. The park itself is down the winding road to the bottom of the mountain there is not designated parking just a gravel road. They have trails to walk and a park and also newly built gazebos to rent or reserve for parties and celebrations. They do have restrooms there as well. You can swim in the river but the current can be strong and there are no lifeguards. If you want a extremely peaceful place to visit take a chance and go here.

We came here mid-morning on a Sunday for a hike. We stopped at the ranger station / gift shop to…read morepay the $5 parking fee. We then proceeded to the end of the road and parked at the lot next to the river. We did the hike along the river. The trail map says it is over 5 miles, but we just wanted to do around 3 total. We passed a couple of markers for 0.5 and 1 miles and hoped to find the 1.5 mile marker as our turn-around spot, but we never saw it. I suspect we were approaching 2 miles when we turned around. The trail was pretty, especially with the fall leaves. We only encountered maybe 4 other hiking groups during our walk. If you are in the area, this is a pleasant area for hiking.

Had a great November day hiking the Riverside Trail end-to-end-to-end (11 miles). Met only 2…read morehikers the whole time. Saw squirrels, armadillos, and white-tail deer. With all of the freshly-fallen leaves, at times the trail was discernable only by rectangular markers on trees. In a few places there were ribbons tied around trees in a way that would lead you off the trail if you followed them. I had fun imagining that the Blair Witch put them there.

You cannot miss it. However, you may miss the road or entrance to view. It's going downwards to get to one side, but the other side is another road that you will easily miss! I had to ask someone. Free. Small parking space. I actually see two barns. I didn't go inside. I saw several photographers there doing their job and didn't want to interrupt them. At a riverbend, it is a naturalistically interesting area, though floodwaters rendered the river itself off limits. The visitor center was small and I found the exhibitions sparse. Some people were gathering near the entrance for a party in the picnic area, while the main part of the park requested no celebrations out of respect for the history. It is a good subject to learn about, but the amount of stuff there versus the distance that you'd have to drive from any metropolitan area wasn't huge.
