"Come on baby, let me take you by the hand Give you candy kisses every single night I got a sweet, sweet tooth for you Let me be your Candy Man" (Roy Orbison)" Munson's Chocolates is a Connecticut institution that goes back to 1946 when they were known by the epic name of "The Dandy Candy Company." Today Munson's is a third-generation candy family, and Connecticut's largest retail chocolate manufacturer. They have 8 stores across the state and guess what...all of the candy sold by Munson's is manufactured right her at their factory and store right here in Bolton. When you walk into the store you'll be struck by two things right in front of your eyes. Number one is a huge showcase with hundreds of fantastic looking chocolates arranged by product. Number two is a group of young workers boxing up so many of the chocolates that are made in the back. Off to the right is a sales area with bags and gift boxes of all types of chocolaty goodness. We picked up a half pound of sugar free chocolate bark and a container of chocolate "Factory Second" pieces. I have no idea why these were rejected by their quality standards, because they looked and tasted great to our eyes and palates.

This place is adorable! It is smaller, so it can get packed during a rush. They have a good balance of moving everyone through quickly, but not rushing you on your choices. The chocolates are absolutely delicious, and there are so many options! They also have fudge and a few other assorted candies.

Looking at some of the Yelp reviews I knew what to expect when I walked in that I had to go to the register and wait for somebody to wait on me. There was about eight people there yet it actually didn't take a long time. I was waited on by a very pleasant lady named Sarah who helped me make hard decisions, lol, on picking my assortment of chocolates. I decided to go with 2 milk chocolate pretzel rods , a cube called Bolton Bear Traxx(fudge & peanut butter mixed with peanuts w/ carmel inside) , a macadamia milk chocolate and white chocolate bark, a cube of almond butter with pink Himalayan sea salt, to graham cracker minis with brittle toffee on top and too small chocolate fingers. (13.99 for all) each weighed individually due to weight variation prices. I should have ordered 50 of the Himalayan sea salt they are that good I want some more !!! Creamy in texture in a nice touch of the salt made the butter Pop!!!! They ended up all being delicious. I also had to get 1 red rock candy for my youngest he loves them, but you can't find them everywhere. I ate both pretzel rods while driving back the 50 minutes it took to get here.

I love Munsons. They are hands down the best chocolate maker that I have ever tried. Whenever I need a gift idea, Munsons is my go to. Theres nothing on this earth that compares to their chocolate covered smores or the chocolate covered pretzel sticks. My mouth is watering just talking about how delicately delicious their treats are. I just moved to Los Angeles, and one of the things I miss is Munsons. I went online to Munsons.com to look at some food porn, because why not? And I discovered that they mail their chocolate! To anywhere in the country! For my mom birthday I sent her some Munsons, and they arrived on her doorstep 2 days after I placed my order. There was an option to write a message and Munsons is so awesome, that they print their messages on a cute little card to accompany their chocolate. Elegant, mouthwatering and delectable. My mom was over the moon with happiness with her gift. And I am elated knowing that even in L.A, I can still have a little taste of what I grew up on. Munsons knows exactly how to make a celebration special.

Rob is a man of MANY skills and talents, he's also very personable and welcoming. His chocolates look like little art figurines, from the colors to the interesting designs. Since my dad loves any gift that comes in a form of chocolate, I thought it was a perfect reason to get him something from Tschudin. I told Rob to select me six of his best sellers of dark chocolate. He did, I can't say what I got, but the one I personally had was the peanut butter. The peanut butter was creamy, and whipped, the slight bitterness of the dark chocolate was the perfect pairing, so tasty! My dad loved his gift, I think if he knew these were a bit pricier he wouldn't have had them in one sitting. If you're looking to treat your self to some chocolate or give some as a gift, please stop by Tschudin.

We were greeted with a mostly empty display with lots of stuff everywhere. We did manage to get a small group of treats at a fairly high price point, but the attention to detail and quality of the chocolates produced were at levels typically not seen in Connecticut or even around the US. Ever since that first meeting, we try to make the trek here to get a few delectable treats to savor once in a while. The owner is very relaxed and uses his place as a ramshackle display of personality and skill. It's not prim and polished, but there's a few pieces usually on display, a subtle sweet smell in the air, and many interesting flavors and fillings of truffles dotting the display cases. Like a master tailor, this place is known by those who know. They look past the grit and enjoy the true gem. It's really good chocolate, pricy but worth it, and worth a trek.

The service is super friendly, and explained to us how their line worked for allergens. We tried the tiramisu, mint, dark chocolate, and caramel truffles, along the peanut butter cups. The peanut butter cup was delicious, and I love how the caramel truffle was mixed with ganache so it wasn't straight caramel in the middle. The boxing was a little weird, as they just stacked them on top of each other. A great place to pick up some chocolates!

I've also been to their store in Bolton, CT which is their headquarters where everything is made.

I can't say for certain whether race played a role, but the difference in how I was treated made me question it. I hope every customer, especially first-time visitors, is treated with the same kindness, respect, and willingness to help.

I got a scoop of Two Berry Pie ("Vanilla-flavored ice cream, strawberry, blueberry & sugared pie crust") in a cup and the little got Lemon Sorbetto! Both were rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Kilwin's offers a sample so you can actually taste before you decide, which is a major win. It was a tough decision, but I will be back for the Cake Batter. The cones are made fresh in-house and smell divine. Beyond ice cream, there's a whole lineup of treats dipped in chocolate: pretzels, Oreos, marshmallows, you name it. Sweet tooth? Handled. Diet? Not. Service: Everyone was super friendly and patient, even with a line. You can tell they actually enjoy working there, which makes the whole experience feel even sweeter. Atmosphere: It's more of a grab-and-go setup, like just a candy store that sells ice cream not an ice cream shop, so there's no indoor seating but right outside there are plenty of benches in downtown West Hartford. The area is busy, walkable, and perfect for a side of people-watching. The quality is top-tier, the flavors are spot-on, and everything feels like a treat because it is. Worth every penny. 10/10 recommend for locals and visitors too.

I liked Bridgewater Chocolate ("BC") before they were in West Hartford Center. I had heard about…read moreBC from a Best Chocolate list. The list suggested that BC had great traditional chocolates, while another CT chocolatier had a modern European style. Both great, but different. I remember going to a store in Bridgewater, CT many years ago, but I don't think it was actually a Bridgewater Chocolate store. That store sold BC's high end classic chocolates like turtles, toffees, patties and caramels though. I bought a bunch and thought they were outstanding. I already thought that West Hartford Center was kind of a cool place, but when the West Hartford Bridgewater Chocolate store first opened, I knew it for sure. With its beautiful chocolates displayed like expensive jewelry, the West Hartford store feels like a high end chocolate boutique that would be at home in Beverly Hills. Sometimes, I feel under-dressed when I go. I'm afraid they're going to kick me out Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman-style, but the BC staff never makes me feel that way. They welcome me and offer me a free taste of chocolate. It always works. I buy a few extra. If you like things done in a classic way, but at the highest possible level, BC is your place. The chocolates have perfect shapes and colors. If you don't like the look of a circle with uniform color, they've got stripes. Don't like long, flat and smooth pieces, they'll rough it up with some chopped nuts. You only want to buy chocolate in the shape of a top hat? That's kind of weird, but they've got you anyway. The toffee breaks in your teeth the exact way you had hoped it would. The nuts and caramel in the turtles crunch and stretch simultaneously. The caramels ooze when you bite into them. The milk chocolate tastes smooth and sweet, and the dark chocolate tastes deeply bittersweet and complex. You can buy curated boxes of chocolates in very cool boxes if you're buying gifts. You can also order by the piece and select the exact ones you want. BC has things like bars and containers of chocolate covered pretzels. Love the pretzels. Even BC's bags are classy. Food-wise, Bridgewater Chocolates is one of the most respected names outside of CT. It's 5 Stars for me every time.
