We stopped here at the end of a day of wine tasting on our way back to the hotel based on reviews here on Yelp. First things first, you really can't get fresher cheese as you park you are right next to the barn with the cows. When we stopped it was at the end of the day but the owner was happy to have us and welcomed us in. He describes the cheese business as a hobby that got away from him. We tasted all the cheese and bought some, we were limited based on not have a good way to refrigerate the cheese at the hotel, or we probably would have bought more. This would actually be a good stop in the middle of the day as a break from wine tasting. read more

We loved our time at Muranda Cheese. The location is beautiful and the cheese was fantastic. You can order wine or beer to enjoy with your tasting. The woman who did our tasting was great- friendly and informative and as passionate about cheese as my wife and I are. So, this review is from my visit September 30, 2017. Sorry for the delay. The company was easy to find and on a working dairy farm. We walked right into the huge barn that was beautiful. They rent it out for events and parties, and I could see why. You can walk outside the back of the barn onto a deck and look out at the pasture and beautiful scenery. Tom and the young lady (I apologize for not remembering her name) were very friendly and helpful. They offer both beer (draft and bottled) and wine to accompany the cheese tasting. The fee was very low for getting to taste 16 different styles and flavors of cheese. There were so many good ones, but I think my favorite was the scallion onion cheddar and dilly girl. They sell blocks of cheese, shirts and cheese related items, as well as local crafts. My girl loves cheese and when we were driving near Waterloo we saw the signs and online searches and just turned to head over. The visit was a highlight of our trip and gave us a wonderful memory. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here over Labor Day Weekend and really enjoyed it. We had 12 different cheeses included in our $5 tasting. The cheeses were all very good (except the blue cheese which we never like any where!) and the description by our tour guide for each cheese was informative. The barn is beautiful with tiny white lights throughout the rafters. A nice breeze blows through it too. Pretty scenery of the farm land off the back deck. We bought lots of cheese to bring home with us. Great place to stop while exploring the Finger Lakes! read more

My family loves Muranda and even as it has grown, it keeps its down to earth charm. The barn music days with truck food is fun and social. The owner Tom is very friendly and knowlegable about the cheese because he makes all.them himself! No brought in. Cheese here. For small fee you can try all his cheeses he has out for sampling. If you're in the area, visit this place! The owner and his daughter who was helping with the cheese tastings were so nice and knowledgeable. For $3 you get to try so many cheeses. After the awhile the cheese flavor can get too strong but they had water and small snacks to help cleanse your palate. This place was so cute and nice change after so many wine tastings. Love this place went on a Saturday owner was serving cheese. What a friendly guy, No skimping here very large portions he now has license to pair with wine if you choose. Must be a local favorite while visiting a few locals showed up to buy cheese this says a lot. If you want a generous tasting with very good cheeses this is a must. Pretty good drive from south but would be great for a pause while winery hopping. One last thing if you are looking for the granite cheese board this is the location to purchase 17 will get you your hunk of stone with a knife. I thought it was expensive until we saw price at all the wineries at minimum twice the price so purchase here. read more

Excellent stop during your time in the Finger Lakes. Cheese tasting comes with ~12 different cheeses which the knowledgeable staff take you through. You can also get a drink to have during your tasting which is also a nice addition. All the cheese can be purchased and although they had a bus load of people during the time we stopped - they put us at a table with a few other couples to accommodate us. This place is 100% worth the stop. After doing my fair share of wine tasting, I decided that I would give a cheese tasting a try. For only $3 I was able to sample 13 piece of cheese, and not one disappointed me. Not only was the cheese remarkable, but the atmosphere was great too. The newly renovated barn was beautiful, and the back porch with the rocking chairs was a plus as well. I am all ready planning another drip their to grab a glass of wine and sample some more cheese. Such a lovely place. We have never done a cheese tasting before and thought it would be a fun thing to do in between wine tastings. We encountered this small farm and was happily greeted by the kitty, Mookie, and the owner, Tom. When we moved inside we saw the cheese lined up for us- I think it was about 12 different cheeses, all for $2 for a tasting! Amazing! Tom was generous in cutting us slices of the yummy cheese and explained each one thoroughly. I didn't know much about cheese, so I was happy to learn. They were all so tasty, it was hard to not buy up the whole store. We ended up leaving with 4 different cheeses. Tom was also very helpful in recommending his favorite wineries, which we ended up going to a few of them and they were awesome. We appreciate that kind of friendly local insider information and plan to be back should we ever find ourselves back in the Finger Lakes. In the meantime, we will enjoy the cheese we brought home. This was such a great find while exploring the top of Seneca. We stopped with our children and they loved seeing the cows. For $3 a person you can taste something like 15 different cheeses. The owner is so friendly, knowledgable, and kind (he opened a half hour early to accommodate my early bird husband and myself;he also spent so much time with us, which made the experience). Moreover, the cheese is so fresh and delicious with a lot of variety; I particularly enjoyed the wine pairing suggestions. The cheese tasting and visit to the lovely farm was a great experience and among the highlights of our trip. This is a must for any foodie. The owner informed us of some exciting upcoming expansions to his farm/tasting experience! Sounds like a lot of neat things are happening to compliment a visit to his farm in the near future without changing the personal approach. A great stopover during your FLX wine tasting. This is one of the most highly regarded cheese makers in the finger lakes region. The owner is super friendly and has a great dry sense of humor. The barn is a great space that allows for throwing yourself into the cheese experience You get to try 15 cheeses so take good notes!! The aged cheddars smoked Gouda and dilly girl(dill and garlic) were our favorites. Be sure to take a few minutes to hang out on the Adirondack chairs and watch the cows that are making the next batch of cheese out in the field. Truly a local gem. read more

What a wonderful find along the Finger Lakes wine trails! We stopped at Muranda Cheese Co. for a cheese tasting on my recent stay in Geneva and I still can not get over how beautiful their farm is and how bold and delicious their cheeses are. For a small fee we were guided through a tasting of ALL of their cheeses! 17 CHEESES! Holy cow!! That's an insane amount of cheese to taste. The girl who did our tasting was very knowledgeable (she told us she's a dairy major in college... who knew?!) and was able to educate us on the different varieties of cheese throughout the tasting. Muranda supplies cheese to many of the local wineries so we stumbled upon their cheeses on most wine pairing menus throughout the rest of our trip. My only complaint is that the barn where they do the tastings was hot so the cheese was a little softer, which altered the taste a decent amount (which we especially realized after comparing it to the same Muranda cheeses served at wineries during pairings). The barn has ample seating and they offer several wines and ciders to sip during the tasting. They also have a beautiful deck which we enjoyed as well! read more

Wow oh wow !!!! So I signed up for Wine Wagon tour, which was fabulous. Myself and another person on the tour requested a cheese stop. This place is beyond 5 stars, it was the high light of my day . The cows are in the dairy barn , as you pull into driveway. Can you say fresh?? So the cheeses are all delicious and fresh , and made in NY state. Beautiful setting, the tasting barn was beautiful . Lovely variety of cheeses, oils, seeds ( yes seeds) pumpkin and butternut squash . Beautiful pottery made locally . So since we started with sampling all 15 cheeses , we were well fed for the rest of the wine part of the tour. This is a must do if you are in the Finger lakes!! read more
