I adore this little local cheese shop in Lowville, NY. Not to mention, it is both the highlight and midpoint of our annual trip to visit my Nana's resting place. This humble little shop offers a small merchandise section, a wide variety of fresh cheeses and other dairy products, some pantry goods and a divine section of handmade chocolates. Samples of various cheeses to include curd cheese is available for sampling. A bacon horseradish cheese was featured and WOW, delish! An apple pie sharp cheese was also available for tasting. It was unique in flavor, but not my cup of tea. Due to the fact we will be on the go for many hours today and without refrigeration, we purchased a variety of candies rather than cheeses. I purchased the chocolate covered kettle chips and shared with the family. A couple of these chips go a LONG way and the pairing of sweet and salty is always a winning combination. The chips are coated with a generous amount of chocolate. The cashier was very cheerful and pleasant. The checkout process was slightly longer due to the credit card machine being out of order. Finally, there is a really cute cow in a field next door that makes for a great photo opp! I highly recommend checking this place out if you find yourself in town and the cheese is reasonably priced. read more

Great little store with a big selection of cheese. We were surprised at the variety and creativity of some of the cheese. Bruschetta, apple pie and more! The prices seemed to be fair. Outside of cheese they had other products; candy, chips, jams, drinks, etc. If I am in the area, I'd definitely stop by again. read more

Stopping by for some souvenirs to bring back to Chicago intended for picnicking, I happened by this store was the words 'Fresh Curds' shot like a laser beam in to my consciousness. I have been to Wisconsin before and known the wonder of this delectable treat. Inside it was friendly and fun, trying garlic curds, habanero cheese, and 11 year old chedddar. I snagged a mild cheddar covered in wax Holstein cow shaped. I also scored some local maple syrup and a story about how people debate which side of the river is better for this purpose (sandy or muddy soil). I walked away with some Italian, & Garlic cheese curds as well. Update: Came back for more cheese (Green & Farmer's) for a sandwich as well as some expensive but good maple candy drops formed into cute shapes. Also, got a tip from a co-worker that the fresh crop of curds comes in on Thursday and be prepared to stand in line. read more

Here in area in July w/group of our friends(18) staying in Old Forge &- decided to take a car cruise for breakfast at Lloyds diner(great eats)we couldnt help but notice this store across the highway---omg omg this is a place not to be missed ,so many different selections of cheese,meats well worth to put on your must stop list. Right next door to my favorite restaurant, the Lighthouse. I stop here on my way home to bring back fresh Cheese Curd and a couple rings of Crogan Bologna. The people here are very, very helpful. This past visit I bought a couple pounds of cheese curd and a couple rings of Crogan bologna. The woman suggested I purchase a couple refrigerator bags and then she preceded to double wrap my purchases and packed them as if I was making a 12 hour flight across the USA. She was very nice to me and protected my purchase for my 6 hour ride home. It's a very nice business to visit. The people here are very nice. Stop in ... you won't be disappointed. read more

If you are going through Lowville, this place is a must! They have a large variety of aged and specialty cheeses as well as Croghan bologna, some souvenirs and candies. We bought an aged cheddar (excellent), provolone (with perfect flavor and bite), smoked swiss and smoked horseradish cheddar (also excellent), Killer Dill (great on rye!), a strawberry chardonnay cheese (sounds odd but yummy), and, of course, Cabot butter and Philly cream cheese. The prices are outstanding as well. If you get there at the right time, you can buy fresh cheese curd or homemade pies. An amazing range of cheeses ranging from exotic and very special gourmet to family friendly giant tubs from the very nearby Philadelphia (Kraft) cream cheese factory.
