I'm an avid consignment and thrift store shopper, and one of my favorite things to do when I travel…read morewith my family is carve out a little "me time" to hunt down the best local consignment shops. Being from the NYC area, I was blown away by what I found at Recouture Consignment in Bozeman, Montana. Their selection perfectly reflected the local vibe and season--think Pendleton sweaters, Woolrich jackets, high-end ski gear, and other amazing winter finds. On top of that, they had plenty of designer and brand-name pieces at incredible prices. I scored a Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, some great plaid button-downs, a beautiful collection of scarves and shawls, and even some super cool jewelry. We visit the YC and Big Sky every year, and I will absolutely be making Recouture a must-stop again next trip. I can't wait to see what treasures they have waiting next time. You won't be disappointed.

**November 2025: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more My mom and I were driving down Main Street and saw a big upscale resale sign. We thought it would be fun to check out so I made a quick turn to head to the parking lot. The store shares the building with a wine shop, but I was really surprised by the selection. Near the front entrance are an assortment of bags and when you walk a little further towards the windows they have a section of bargain pieces! There a $15, $20, and $25 short dress, jackets/outerwear section, and I believe a $10 tops section. The center section of the store had some really great designer pieces, but many were $100+, which is well above my price range for second hand. Nevertheless, if you go to the opposite side of the shop there's a whole section of items that are half off! There's a fun shoe section with some cowboy boots - though they just weren't my size *cries* They have a couple of mirrors around the shop as well as a dressing room, so it's a fun place to play dress up. I did find two jackets as well as a gold belt that I liked on this trip, so it was still a success! Hours Mon-Sat: 10am-6pm Sun: 12pm-5pm Parking: Plentiful Summary: This shop has an upscale boutique vibe to it. Items do tend to be on the pricier side, but I think if you really dig you can find some great gems!

Okay, this is a longer one but as an avid thrifter and experienced (and fair) reseller myself, I…read morethink that this place necessitates a particular conversation. My thoughts- I've stopped into Second Wind a few times over the years in search of gear/clothing for personal use, but have consistently walked away disappointed if not empty-handed because their pricing is exorbitant and stupidly inflated, and I have no shame in using that sort of verbiage. An example from today that caught me so off guard I did some research, subsequently leading me to writing this review- a heavily used & visibly stained/faded Patagonia vest listed at $115, which is $16 less than the retail price on Patagonia's own website ($131). In my opinion and personal experience, this is not an isolated case- a lot of their merchandise is significantly worn, sometimes even dirty, and still priced like it's barely been used. While I did find and purchase a cute pair of pants that were reasonably priced and in good shape today, it unfortunately doesn't negate the general pattern of overpricing. Selling gear in highly used and rough condition for near-retail prices undermines the whole point of secondhand shopping and if we're being honest, many locals have access to outdoor industry discounts that include the benefit of full warranties. Trying to resell deeply used gear at near-retail prices just feels exploitative in that context. Even online secondhand platforms like Depop tend to be far more equitably priced and transparent about quality. I'm all for supporting secondhand and local businesses, but not when it starts to feel greedy and borderline shady. Pricing like this erodes trust and defeats the purpose of resale. There are more transparent, affordable, and community-minded options out there-- please shop around.

This is my favorite place to hit up first anytime I come to Bozeman. I always find something amazing. Their boots & bottom layers selections are particularly good.

YESSSSSSSSSSS! I've…read morebeen visiting the big sky area for over 20 years with a family home there. I had never visited Alpacas of Montana before. I saw it and booked it last minute for my husband and 2 boys. This was a HUGE highlight and I could not recommend it more! It brought so much joy! When we checked in, I asked if there would be dogs bc my youngest is TERRIFIED of them and I was fully prepared to just sit in the car if he freaked out. They made a point to remove their friendlier dog who would approach people out of the pasture so he wouldn't freak out. How kind! My boys are both allergic to dogs and cats and came prepared with Benedryl. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they are hypoallergenic animals! My very nervous around animal 6 year old quickly jumped into being comfortable in a small area full of alpacas. I was SHOCKED. As we started to get one to walk, he ended up walking the biggest one around the pasture and was so happy! Once we took back the males, we went out into another pasture where the guide brought food for us to feed the females. All of the females came very excited to get snacks from us. This quickly freaked him out though. He said there were too many all trying to get the food from him. It was sooooo fun though! My 8 year old didn't feed them but wasn't scared of them. I really don't think this would be a concern for most kids at all. We moved on to the "baby" pen. They were toooo little at the time but they said if you're there when they're born in the summer, you can even wipe them down after being born which is pretty amazing how hands on they'd let you be! We learned a lot of interesting facts throughout this experience that I'll let you hear first hand. 1000000% recommend that you visit alpacas of Montana!

Danny was our guide - she was knowledgeable and super nice!…read more The alpacas were great. They each have their own personality, from friendly, to shy, to bossy, and a little obstinate. I loved the Federation too - your guide will explain what that means. We got to spend a lot of time with the alpacas and feed, walk, and cuddle them. The husband I had a great time and we will do it again the next time we visit!
