If you are an amateur doing woodworking projects, the person who manages (I think) the paint counter is the person to help you. He coached me through several projects this summer/fall. I came to ACE after I struck out at the big box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot) should've just come here first! They had exactly the item I needed even though it had odd dimensions (7/16" x 7" carriage bolt) and the staff was extremely helpful, going above and beyond to help research and make recommendations for the items that they didn't carry. 03/06/22 So, I normally like helping local business before I head to the new corporate businesses, since Bozeman has grown since I left and then moved back to MT. However, I thought it was comically, that it took walking the entire store before anyone asked if I needed help and then when I did find the item; I was informed by parts and repair "key cutting" as well, that they don't do special cuts for plexiglass.... But Dillon and Butte does? So it was a little frustrating that I had to travel else where to get the products I needed. Now I know it's local owned but its hard to know and keep up with all the Ace Hardware when all of them are on different pages, unlike Lowes, and Home Depot. It doesn't matter if I'm in state or out of state location. They are all the same. And the last thing I'll point out is unfortunately not the greatest customer services. I've shopped at Huffine Ace for 15 years. Always been super happy until recently. Two days in a row (yesterday and today) there were people in the Huffine store WITHOUT getting masks. No one stopped them. One of them wasn't looking as bumped into me at the checkout counter yesterday. What gives here?? I commented to the cashier. Next day another maskless super spreader. This isn't rocket science. Refuse to checkout anyone without a mask. Just ask them to go get a mask and get back in the end of the line for checkout. I'm a retired MD. This is crazy!! What in heavens name are you doing letting these people in your store. Would you like me to start sharing photos of these people? read more

I enjoy my experience here every time I go in. I'm always greeted and asked if they can help me locate what I need. Yes, they can be a bit expensive but we signed up for rewards and use coupons, and when we do need to buy something, we always know it's good quality stuff. read more

A great place for just about anything - with small town personal service from staff who really do want to help. Most of the store is a typical ace hardware store. I'm not a chef, but the housewares they carry is amazing. From replacement pot knobs to a lefsa griddle to a ton of kitchen gizmos - and if you want any kitchen aid mixer attachment, you need to stop in. A great place. read more

On Sept 1, we had a horrible experience in the paint section at this Ace Hardware. I like Ace Hardware and have never had such an experience, but thought I'd share. My girlfriend was looking for paint, around $200 worth. We had paint samples and had a few questions. We had seen a nice sales guy the day before who was very helpful. But, on this day, we ran into an 8-year experienced (as she informed us) saleswoman who was extremely unhelpful. From the very first question, she was negative and condescending. We were rather flabbergasted. Every question was a challenge. For example, I saw on the web the paint we were looking for had a lifetime warranty, so I asked her about it. She responded something like I don't know, you'd have to look at the can, "it's a can thing". It's a can thing!, WTH. We referenced a couple things that differed from the salesman the day before, and she told us that he was new and didn't know. He had mentioned a sample we could get for $5.00 and when we bought the paint, they'd apply that as a credit. Again, she informed us he was new and that was not correct. After another question or two my girlfriend just sat the paint samples we had down on a display and we turned and walked out. We begrudgingly took our paint business to Lowes. Customer Service...it makes a difference! read more

This place is a SCAM. My bike's brake was not working because trying to adjust it, I made a mess. A guy who looks like the store manager (~50 years old, grey hair) said, without looking at the bike, that I needed to change the pads. I explained him it was an adjustment problem and he asked one of his technicians to take a look at the bike. I noticed he wispered something to the tech and the guy told me the brakes were broken and I needed a new part. I took my bike to REI and guess what? It took them 30 seconds to adjust the brake, they even oiled the chained, and didn't charge me. GO REI! OWEN HOUSE, YOU SUCKS!!!! THE OLD FART IS A BASTARD!!!! read more
