I don't normally leave reviews but I felt I needed to with this service! I called yesterday for a sort of emergency appointment and they scheduled me in the same day. They were extremely nice and very transparent on the costs of exam and the vaccinations needed for my cat. They took my concerns seriously and with every medical recommendation they gave detailed explanations and cost break down. We ended up at Murieta one day in June because our usual vet (Broadway Veterinary Hospital, part of the same group) didn't have any availability and we needed our dog to be seen urgently. We made the 45 min drive from Sac, and were so glad we did. Our pup was seen by Dr. McFarlane and she was caring and thorough, and was well versed in our dog's rather extensive history in the last couple of years. We've had several follow up appointments and have received great care each time. So happy to have found another great care option. read more

My retired Police K-9 experienced a sudden health episode and my first call was to the Murieta Pet Hospital. I explained the symptoms I had observed in my K-9 and was able to see the Dr immediately. The Dr was very knowable in the working dog breed, and based of my description of his behavior, he gave me his initial suspected diagnoses within minutes of the emergency exam. After an Ultrasound and bloodwork, his initial diagnoses was correct. We discussed all the available options and unfortunately I had to decide to end my K-9's pain and suffering. The Dr and staff were extremely professional and respectful during the entire process. As horrible as the entire event was, their knowledge, experience and professionalism helped me and my family get through the event. I commend them on how everything was handled. read more

I took my two dogs in for exams and vaccines. Upon arrival, I was told to get their weights by myself. This was obviously impossible, but they didn't offer to help (I had to ask). So my first impression wasn't good. Once I was seen by the technician and the doctor, though, they seem thorough enough. However I won't be returning as everything was around $20 more than my previous vet. So I left paying around $200 more total, which is a lot. I also think they may have hurt one of my dogs when giving a vaccine because she yelled like I've never heard, and my other dog keeps liking the spot which has a little scab now. read more

High quality establishment with a friendly staff. Unfortunately, the quality of service is substandard. On a simple ear infection for my dog, they failed to prescribe the correct medicine twice and on the 3rd visit they finally decided to do a culture. Charging full price for every visit and failing to resolve a simple service shows that making repeat customers and maximizing their profit is their primary goal. Just back from my first experience with the new Veterinarian in Rancho Murieta. First of all, it is GREAT to have one in the neighborhood so thank you for investing in the community :) Making an appointment was easy and they had availability which was awesome. Clean, friendly, nice and efficient were my first impressions. LOVED the Doctor (Tyler I think and he is the or an owner as well) he was gentle, loving and knowledgeable with our sweet little Cooper. I am writing this review to give a heads up for potential clients. When I called for an appointment to have my dogs ears checked for foxtails, I was able to get in within a few hours. Once I got there, I discovered the reason for that and why the parking lot was empty and no one was there, on a Friday afternoon when local vets are scheduling weeks out. I called first and got a quote. Was told that there was an exam for $65 and foxtail removal and additional $65. Plus unknown costs if sedation was needed. Not too unusual. At first they were not sure that there was enough time to have me come in and dogs recover from sedation. I know that there is a sedation that can be given, and then reversed so that your animal does not have to be left, for these minor procedures, so I asked couldn't that be done. I was put on hold and then told to come in a few hours later, towards the end of the day. That should have been red flag #1, and red flag #2 when the parking lot was empty. Red flag #3 when I was put in a room and still had to wait 15 minutes after my appointment time for the vet to come in, when there were no other clients. The vet, Dr. P, was nice enough, but I think he was a used car salesman before or during his time in vet school. He examined the dogs, saw that my oldest dog was having stiffness and mobility problems (no big secret there) and said they don't use the standard Previcox on dogs anymore, they used a once a month injection, and he handed me the brochure. He did not point out, but I did state to him, that it is essentially just a painkiller, it would do nothing for the inflammation (which causes the stiffness) One shot was almost $100 and expected to be give once a month. He then explained the standard looking in the ears for foxtails, if they found one or inflammation they would do "cytology" to determine if there was an infection and provide treatment for that if needed. Only if needed. Sedation if needed. He or his assistant had been typing up an estimate for all of this, which they did quickly, and then asked me to sign -- on the computer, so I really did not have a chance to see, read, or make any decisions. So I asked if i could get a printed copy and was told sure, of course. They took the dogs and never gave me that. Another red flag. I was especially going to look at the "cytology" cost (later $65), the cost for ear treatment (later $92 cost from buying at Chewy $60). I had planned to tell them skip the cytology, and ask what were the other ear treatment meds, and take a good look at all the other proposed treatments. When I got the dogs back, they had done all of that, and on top of that, they charged not $65 for foxtail removal, but $65 PER FOXTAIL. So here I was glad they did not do sedation, as I know there is a huge mark up on that, thinking maybe only $300 at most per dog, and I end of being charged $600 per dog! When I told the person taking my money that I objected but I really had no choice since they had done everything already, she was not apologetic at all. I told her that I had called to get a quote and was only told $65, not $65 per foxtail. Her response "Oh well, she's new." And their "cytology" (which I think was just looking at the ear exudate under a microscope) only saw occassional bacteria in one ear, so no need to treat both ears, but they did, for and extra $45. Had they actually given me the estimate, I would have not approved the cytology, and opted for a cheaper ear medication, likely only in one ear, and saved almost $200. Upon later research, I discovered that there are side effects to the ear treatment, called "claro", that it is advised that the drs inform clients to watch for. That was not done. Lastly, for the once a month arthritis pain meds, I had read the insert while they were working on my dogs, and it said that out of a study of 135 dogs, about 10 - 13% of them had kidney issues or UTI. I was going to decline based on that, but the doctor said it was only that percentage from the ones that had side effects. But no, the insert said it was from the study, but he insisted, and said that there was follow up and monitoring from FDA so it was very safe. Since I wanted to provide relief for my older dog, I decided to try it. What he also did not tell me, which I found out later, is that there were significant side effects, and even death, which prompted FDA to require the manufacturer to reissue the medication information with more serious warnings. JUST THE MONTH BEFORE! So, go to this clinic with your eyes wide open and do not just blindly believe what you are told. read more
