New vet for our two babies.. Art and Oliver. I found Gold River Ver on line through a google search/Yelp reviews. We have great pet insurance, and recently upgraded our plan, which is what led us to an alternative vet. We were previously being seen at VCA La Riviera/ and were "satisfied" with the care we were receiving. Luckily, we found Dr B, and had our first visit today. Words cannot describe my immediate impression of this entire facility. The Drs demeanor, bedside manner, and well versed knowledge was epic! I rarely leave reviews, but would not have missed the opportunity to advertise what may be the absolute best veterinarian hospital in Sacramento.... And I have been to MANY! All I can say is WOW

The staff are so kind and friendly, our cat doesn't mind going to the vet whatsoever!

I am very upset about my most recent visit, my cat made it completely clear that he loves Dr. Bindra more than he loves us!!! He was purring so much it was difficult to even hear his heartbeat with the stethoscope! All jokes aside, I couldn't be happier with the care my pets get here. The purring story is 100% true, and that is the most rousing endorsement a cat could give! He was purring and headbutting and rubbing happily all over the doctor, there was no fear at all. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone here truly loves and cares about animals.

My puppy and I adore Dr. B. and his staff. We're new to the area and picked the "local" vet. We've not been disappointed.

Every step of the way from diagnosis, treatment, and even the euthanization itself was handled with the utmost care, respect, and compassion. Our animals are our extended children and it has shattered us each time, but every single employee and veterinarian at this VCA location was beyond incredible. They were supportive in helping us understand, attentive with our needs and desires to be present until the last moment, and they were extremely efficient in making sure the "background noise" of paperwork and payments and technical details didn't cloud our time to support our fur babies and be fully present where it mattered. I recommend this location specifically 100 times over & hope someday we will get to appreciate their services when it's not associated with the most tragic moment for our family. Thank you to every single employee and veterinarian that assisted us with our most precious non-human babies (Lilly, Darla, and Mama). Our family cannot express our appreciation for your genuine care every step of the way.

My grandfather is partially deaf and his cat needed to be seen, so I came with him as an advocate…read moresince he has a hard time with customer service sometimes. We brought the cat into the ER on Friday and then again on Saturday of last week. The ER vet sent us home both days with cans of cat food, but no prescription. I was told that if we needed more food to call back for a prescription but otherwise, they advised us to contact our primary vet for a prescription through them. We did as we were told and followed up with our primary vet for the prescription but while waiting, we ran out of food. I called this emergency vet back and spoke with Maddy and I explained our situation. She put us on hold and spoke with the vet, then later came back to tell us that they will email me a prescription within the next day but if we needed food before then, we could come in today without a prescription and that she'd leave a note on the account. I waited until about 7:30pm for the prescription to be emailed and when it didn't come, my grandfather and I decided to show up to just buy some like we were told we could do. We were helped by a woman named Sasha who was immediately suspicious and argumentative with me when I explained our situation. I told her I wasn't trying to argue with her and that I'm just relaying what we were told because we need the food and we wouldn't have driven down here for no reason. She spat back that Maddy was wrong and shouldn't have told us anything. I told her what the Vet also told us and she relentlessly argued with me about that too and she discredited him by saying he was new, he didn't know anything, and that wasn't a vet, he was just an intern. Her coworker overheard us and suggested that Sasha go speak with the vet in the back and see what they say. Sasha argued with her coworker but eventually went to the back and got approval. She then came back to tell us we got an exception but then also belittled us for not having a prescription and for taking from their minimal stock. She literally told us that they only carry enough product for patients and that we can't come back to buy food from them because they don't have enough stock for people off the street. I told her that we were a patient who was seen twice last week but she argued with me again about that. Sasha also tried to charge me over $1,000 for somebody else's services and then argued with me about it when I told her she was wrong. Her coworker finally pointed out that she never took my last name or contact information, and as it turns out, we were the wrong client. Sasha didn't apologize for her behavior or for the mistake and our total ended up only being $70 and this whole ordeal took an hour to do. I truly can't imagine my partially deaf grandfather navigating such horrible customer service alone and I'm glad I was there to advocate for him. I believe that Sasha would have argued and taken advantage of my grandfather by allowing him to pay $1,000 for the wrong service if he was alone. Despicable experience.

Within 20 minutes I was called back and scheduled for 9AM! Both times I have come in I am escorted to a room with my pet within 2-3 minutes of arrival. No waiting around in the lobby like my old vet. Within 2-3 minutes a vet tech was there to start the process, today Blake got all the info logged and moved the process along quickly. Quick, but still with genuine care. Just a few minutes after that Dr. Wichman came in for the exam. She was great with my dog. All vets are expensive - full stop. That said, on both occasions where I have had an unexpected need to come in, they have provided options. They explain priorities and work with me to give my pet the best care I can afford. I really dreaded going to my old vet...hint sounds like bilvan borners. CH Pet Hospital is a breath of fresh air! I highly recommend their services and know that we have found a great new partner in our pets' healthcare.

Shortley afterward, she developed an ear problem caused by a foxtail, and I paid an additional $160 to have it removed. Two weeks later, I was told to bring her back for a recheck. I expected this to be a follow-up related to the treatment, but I was charged another $134. I was then told she would need to return every two weeks for additional ear checks, with a charge for each visit. I understand that that veterinary care is expensive and that clinics need to charge for their services, but I felt like the focus was more on generating additional fees then on my dog's care. Based on my experience, I do not feel comfortable returning to this place, and I would not recommend it to others.

It really hasn't been a pleasant experience, until today! Right when we walked in the door they immediately brought me back to a room (they read the records :) and provided the best situation for my dogs temperament. This provides my dog less stress thus better behavior. Not only does this help my dog it helps them get through and exam that much easier and safe. Dr. Weaver and her amazing tech came in introduced themselves to me and my dog. The vet sat down got level with my dog and allowed her to get to know her. She met my dog where she was and provided her the opportunity for less stressful exam for everyone. I am just very thankful for Dr. Weaver and feel heard. I never felt the staff were "upselling" me. They provided a fair estimate for their specialty care. No hidden costs and no surprises. The front staff were incredibly professional and friendly. Not to mention they smiled genuinely! All today thank you for an amazing experience. You've taken so much stress off of my dog and myself! If you are still here.. yesterday I showed up for the appointment a day early (yep). Unfortunately yesterday everything was going fine until he had a bowel movement, shortly after he started to whine, cry and show signs of severe uncomfortableness, lethargy, it was gut wrenching to see this tiny helpless thing I already love so much be so uncomfortable. I called the vet we are meant to see and they could not fit us in but recommended veterinary urgent care and Surgery in Cameron Park. I immediately just started driving there scared for my puppies well-being. While driving I called and they were able to get me an appointment right away, basically the time it took for me to drive there. They tested us from the car for parvo (thank god is was negative) so we were brought into a room. The vet tech was extremely nice, thorough, endearing, empathetic (as I was a blubbering mess worried about my tiny 4lbs puppy) she got her report ready and brought the dr in. He was even kind and empathetic to my worry and concern. We went over everything. From the day I got him to what possibilities it could be. They gave me options, information and we picked a treatment plan after an exam of my puppy. I was sent home with medications, directions and feeling so much relief that they cared for my dogs wellbeing and how I felt as an owner. Upon leaving and check out and the girls at the front came together to chat with us, and say goodbye. We talked a little about how cute he is his breed type and then reassured us to call if we need anything or have any questions. I will absolutely be a returning customer should an emergency come up again. Completely unrelated but when I went to grab my dog from the techs arms after they took him in back to give him a couple shots I could smell her subtle perfume(it smelt amazing) as we had to be shoulder to shoulder. I politely asked her what it was and she told me. Not vet related but something small / important to me. This small kind interactions made me feel like a real person to them instead of a ticket number.

Unfortunately, the quality of care he provides is overshadowed by an extremely rude and unprofessional front office staff. For about a month we left messages roughly once a week regarding scheduling our Golden Retriever for a spay procedure and never received a call back. Eventually we were told Dr. Khurmi had been on vacation, and suddenly we were able to schedule the surgery. It would have been helpful if that had been communicated earlier, but at that point we were simply happy to finally get the appointment. We chose the laparoscopic option because we had read it could be less traumatic and allow for an easier recovery. We were given a price range, and when we dropped our dog off we paid $1,783.94, which was the lower end of the estimate. When we picked her up, we were told we owed an additional $116.06. The amount itself was no big deal to us. We had already agreed to a cost range and were fully prepared to pay within that range. Out of simple curiosity, we asked what caused the final cost to land at the higher end. The vet tech immediately became defensive and spoke to us in a condescending tone in front of other clients, repeatedly stating that we had agreed to a range rather than simply explaining the difference. We never received a clear answer. While waiting, there were also other clients ahead of us who appeared surprised by additional charges at checkout, so it did not seem like an isolated situation. The discharge process was also rushed. The vet tech briefly went over the medication but did not clearly review the rest of the post-operative instructions before sending us home with a printed sheet. Nearly two weeks later the stitches are still clearly visible, so we called the office today to confirm whether they were dissolvable or needed to be removed. I had made a mental note that the instructions mentioned something about sutures being removed around 14 days, as we are approaching that timeframe and I wanted to get them taken out. When I explained that this had not been discussed with us, the staff member responded in a very abrasive tone, repeatedly insisting that we had been sent home with an instruction sheet rather than simply addressing the question. After requesting the clinical summary earlier to understand the final invoice, I reviewed it again and it actually states "sutures out in 14 days," which contradicts what we were told on the phone today. As a client and not a veterinarian, I should not have to interpret clinical notes to understand basic post-operative instructions. Clear and consistent guidance is important when you are caring for a pet recovering from surgery. I have since emailed the clinic asking for clarification and am still waiting for confirmation on whether the sutures are dissolvable or need to be removed. Based on our experience, the front office staff and vet techs could benefit from additional training in client communication and customer service. Pet owners should feel comfortable asking questions without being spoken to in a defensive or dismissive tone. After reviewing other client feedback and the responses from this business, there appears to be a pattern of defensiveness rather than accountability. Hopefully this situation will be handled differently, but based on those responses I would not be surprised if the reply focuses on defending the clinic rather than addressing the concerns raised. When you trust someone with your pet's surgery, professionalism and clear communication should be the standard, not something clients have to fight for.
